"C'mon you can do it!" Alexander chanted. "Step by step babe" he continued. "You can..."
"Stop speaking to me like a child!" I protested.
Since I was in bed for a couple of weeks, my body had to get accustomed to walking again. Alexander was holding on to my hand helping me walk and he took it upon himself to act like I was a toddler learning how to walk again.
"Im just trying to help" he smirked at me."
"You can help by just holding my hand, you don't need to talk to me as if Im a child." I sat down on the chair placed on the other side of the room. "Im a feared assassin and that's just insulting."
He laughed "I thought I was being all motivational there"
"Its demeaning!"
"Alright I'll stop" he kneeled in front of me "But you need to keep going c'mon." Smiling he takes my hands in his and helps me up.
"Walk me to somewhere else in the house. Ive been staring at the same four walls for days."
"You sure you can make it to the living room?"
I glared at him "I am not useless, Alexander!"
He threw his hands up "I never said you were, Sky!"
"Then stop acting like I am and let's just walk somewhere else" I hated how he was acting. I knew he was just worried about me and was trying to help but I wasn't used to people helping me out like this and having him do that just made me feel useless and pathetic.
Throwing my arms around his neck, I stared up at him "Im sorry. Its just... I'm Skylar Diamond. Im supposed to be this badass chic and instead I'm here in Rudolf pajama pants and a white hoodie learning how to freaking walk again. You speaking to me like a child or like Im made of glass and about to break is not helping me feel better at all."
He placed a soft kiss on my lips and smiled "I understand but Im just worried about you. Im trying to be helpful"
I give him a look that makes him sigh and roll his eyes "Ill try to not speak to you like a child"
"Thank you! That's all Im asking" I placed a kiss on his lips "Now lets go to the living room or something."
Step by step we made our way to the living room. Every step felt like needles poking my feet all the way up to my legs. It was Christmas eve and although we hadn't had the best couple of days Lianna and my mother were insisting that we at least had dinner and exchanged gifts at midnight. Which was an inconvenience to me since I wasn't in any shape to go shopping. Everyone of course understood my situation but I couldn't help but feel guilty about being the only one in the group getting gifts but not giving them.
Chatter and bickering got louder the closer we go to the living room. It wasn't that far away from the room I was in but to me it felt like a freaking marathon.
"UNO!" Eric exclaimed as we reached the living room.
"No fucking way!" Cassian responded by throwing a draw four.
"Fucking dick!" Eric pouted. You just cant stand the fact that I'm beating your asses.
Eric, Cassian, Jeremy and Angelo were gathered in a circle on the floor. Uno cards stacked up in front of them. Eric had a sour expression on his face as the rest of the guys had smirks on their faces. My mom and the other girls were all sitting down around the room talking amongst themselves.
Everyone was wearing Christmas themed pajamas today. While Alexander and I both had matching pants and hoodies. Eric and Angelo rocked the Santa Claus pants and t-shirts. They had a cute looking Santa all around. Alexa and Jeremy had white sweaters and a pair of pajamas pants with the words 'ho ho ho' all over them. Lianna and my mom decided to match with Christmas trees all over their pajamas and finally Catalina and Cassian matched with cute little snow men in theirs.
"Skylar!" Eric exclaimed as he noticed us standing by the door. "Tell these pussies to stop being little bitches and accept that I am the supreme UNO player." he crossed his arms with a smug look on his face.
"I would but... I don't want to lie to them." I answered with a smile. Everyone laughed at Eric.
"Ey man pussies are strong as fuck" Cassian answered as Alexander and I sat down on the sofa, close to the others. "those shits go through periods and then fucking births. So in my book, that was a compliment and you're just a set of balls."
"A set of balls?" Angelo spoke up the question we were all asking.
"Yeah, those motherfuckers are weak. One small hit and we're fucking rolling on the floor."
"Preach!" Alexa spoke up now "I agree, women are the dominant sex."
"are they?" Eric spoke up "I mean you sound all high and mighty yet when it comes to opening up a pickle jar or killing a spider, you're all for men!"
"Well she never said men were useless" I spoke up now "She just said we're better."
"Yeah you guys have your perks. Like when I need to reach a high shelf." Alexa continued. "Other than that, I believe we can beat you in anything!"
"Is that a challenge, Collins?" Eric stood up and walked closer to Alexa.
She stood up and walked right at him. Her 5'1 frame just dwarfed under his 5'7. "Bring it on, Castillo. Whats your challenge?"
A silence enveloped the room before he spoke up "Mario Kart! Best two out of three"
"You're on!" she grinned, and they ran to set up the gaming system.
"Go Alexa!" Catalina cheered.
"Kick his ass babe!" Jeremy cheered on.
"Dude you're supposed to be on my side." Eric complained.
"No way dude, I'm all for her!"
"Fucking whipped" Eric mumbled back.
I couldn't help but smile as all of them gathered behind Alexa and Eric to cheer on their favorite. Everyone but Angelo was cheering for Alexa which had Eric butt hurt. Things lately had been so difficult for everyone. Misfortune after misfortune can break anyone's spirit and yet here we all were. Trying our best to have a good Christmas even though things weren't nearly over for us. Alexander grinned next to me as he watched the others as well, his arm wrapped around me making sure I was comfortable. It was undeniable the happiness that I had when I was with everyone. For once in a very long time I truly felt like part of a real family and that meant more than anything in the world right now.
"NO NO NOOOO!" Eric yelled as Alexa threw a red shell at him and beating him at the last second.
"Fuck yeah!" Alexa cheered. "Women are supreme."
"Please! That was just dumb luck and just a game. Id like to see one of you girls beat one of us in a fight."
Alexa smiled giving me a look. "I accept that challenge" I spoke up now.
"Babe, you cant fight right now." Alexander didn't waste time saying.
"I don't mean today. I accept I cant beat you today Castillo, but once I'm better I will accept that challenge and if I win you have to dress like a women and post it online saying women are the superior sex." I smirked.
"Oh it's a deal!" he walked over to me and we shook hands on it.
Everyone in the room gave Eric a solemn look. "What?" he asked.
"Dude.. you're going to get your ass handed to you on a silver platter" Jeremy said.
"She will beat you so hard you will be walking funny for a week." Angelo said now.
"Thanks for the vote of confidence honey" he pouted at Angelo.
"Im sorry babe, but Ive seen this woman in action and let me tell you it's a beautiful and gruesome sight." He winced. "Its badass"
"Thank you, Angelo." I smiled.
A while passed of us laughing and eventually, we ordered pizza and decided to watch movies while midnight rolled around to exchange presents. By the time the movie was over it was already five minutes to midnight, and we all decided to gather around in a circle.
"So, I know we have had a tough year." Lianna began "and its probably not the best time to celebrate the holidays but in a world like ours we need to enjoy and take advantage of every small moment of happiness we can get. So let's be grateful that even after everything we are all here together. Merry Christmas!" She smiled.
"Merry Christmas!" we all repeated and we began the gift exchange.
Everyone got small gifts like nice clothes and the guys gave guns to each other which was not surprising.
"Skylar honey" my mom smiled as she sat next to me where Alexander was. He was opening other gifts with his mother.
"Merry Christmas mom. Im so happy you are here" I gave her a hug.
"Me too, honey" She smiled as she pulled out a small box. "I got you something. I saw it in a store a long time ago and Ive been keeping it. Looking for the right moment to give it to you. With all that has happened I never got the chance to."
I opened up the box to find a beautiful heart shaped diamond necklace with a gold chain. It looked beautiful.
"Mom... its beautiful." I took it out of the box as my mom helped me put it on.
"I saw it and thought it was perfect for you. The Diamond name has been put through the mud thanks to your father." She grabbed my had in hers "I believe that you can change that. I believe that you can beat your father and live up to strength that the Diamond name is supposed to represent."
I smiled while giving her a big hug "Thank you mom, its beautiful!" with that we all continued to open up presents and chat and before we knew it 3am came by and we were all exhausted. Everyone said goodnight and left, leaving Alexander and I alone.
"Guess we should go back to the room" I stood up slowly.
"Yeah" Alexander smiled before he suddenly picked me up from the floor into his arms.
"Whoa! What are you doing?" I asked surprised.
"You'll see" he smirked as he carried me out of the living room and into the garden outside. He set me down on the garden swing and turned on some Christmas lights that were hanging around the chair and stood in front of me.
"What is all this?" I questioned.
"Well I still need to give you my Christmas present" he smiled and sat down next to me. "You came into my life and I never thought for one second that you would make me feel the way you do. You are the strongest, most badass, most beautiful woman I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. The day you arrived I knew I had to get to know you. That I had to get you to open up and most of all I had to protect you from those demons that tormented you. I made a lot of mistakes and because of them, you got hurt and I still don't forgive myself for it. But I promise that If you let me, I will spend my whole life making up for it." He suddenly got on his knees and took out a small box from his pocket. Inside was the most beautiful ring Ive seen. "Skylar Diamond... Would you make me the happiest and luckiest man alive and marry me?"
Tears were already running down my face as I realized what had just happened. He had actually asked me to marry him and I couldn't be happier. Part of me wanted to say yes but the other side of me thought we should heal first. I still felt betrayed as happy as I felt right now and as much as I wished I could say yes, I knew we needed more time. I never imagined I would ever be in this situation.
"Alexander" I smiled softly at him "You have no idea how much I want to say yes, how much I want to be your wife..." his smile faded a bit "but I think we should wait a bit. Its not a no... trust me when I say I love you Alexander Valentino and when I say yes to marrying you, I want to say yes knowing everything is behind us."
He smiled softly " I will wait until the end of time until you are ready to say yes" he kissed me deeply " I love you, Skylar Diamond and I only hope one day soon enough, ill be able to say "I love you, Skylar Valentino"
We kissed again and I couldn't help but think how lucky I was to have him in my life.
