your mind was going insane. you tried to analyse the situation you were currently faced with.
"wait so link wants me to swim?"
"with him?"
"almost naked?!"
your blush wasn't helping and you tried to stop thinking about him without any clothes on. you looked down at yourself and felt a little self-conscious. what if link didn't like your body? what if he found you gross? what if he didn't want to spend time with you anymore? what if he-
"y/n! are you done yet?"
you peaked at link from behind the trunk of the tree and shouted at him.
"hold on! just give me a minute!"
link rolled his eyes at you and swam around.
you were currently wearing your black bra and panties, and you weren't sure if you were comfortable swimming with your current attire. you tried to search for your f/c one-piece suit and you screamed internally for leaving it in one of epona's bags. you took a deep breath, and peaked once more at link. he was currently turned around, stretching in the water and fixing his ponytail.
this was your chance.
you steadied yourself, and ran across your campsite and went over to epona who was standing in front of the small lake. you were digging through every pouch, big and small, trying to find that one-piece and you cursed at yourself for not grabbing it before. you were still in your undergarments and you tried to hurriedly find your swimming suit.
link breathed in, taking in the fresh air around him and he turned around.
——(link's p.o.v)——
link couldn't believe what he was seeing.
he was looking at his female friend, searching through epona's pouches in her black undergarments. link's face flushed deep red and he tried to not make any noise. he noticed that y/n hadn't noticed him staring and he couldn't help but take in her figure. her h/l h/c hair flowing gently and the curves of her waist that connected to her mid-back was extremely attractive, and link couldn't help but stare at her-
"link?!"
link's thoughts were interrupted when he saw two big e/c eyes staring straight at him. link instantly apologised.
"sorry! i didn't mean to-"

"uhH-don't worry!"

"i really am- o-oh goddesses i a-am so s-sorry!"

"it's alright! j-just turn a-around will you?!"
link immediately turned around and dared not to look at y/n. he heard her slip something off and then replace it with something else and he slowly started to turn, hoping she was wearing something. she had her hands in front of her and she looked to the side, meekly.
link's jaw dropped slightly, and he swallowed. the front was as good as the back. her chest and stomach were wrapped in a nice f/c suit and he felt his eyes tracing her hips down to her thighs.
y/n looked back at him, and seeing his reaction made her shiver.
"i'm r-ready now."
those three words didn't even register in link's mind, for he was way too focused on the view in front of him. he saw y/n take a step forward, and another until she reached the edge of the lake. link moved back slightly and reached out for her hand. she blushed, but took it anyway and he guided her through the water.
link felt something in his fingertips when the two connected hands, and he looked into her beautiful e/c eyes.
"w-what are you staring at?"
link shook his head and mumbled a small 'nothing'.
——(your p.o.v)——
link's sky-like eyes would not tear away from yours, and you tried to break the gazing when you let go of his gentle hand. you swam away from him, and you combed your hair with your fingers. your back was facing him, hiding your beet-red face.
the water was just above your elbow and you sighed.
"i'm sorry."
you faced link, and gave him a genuine reassuring smile.
"it's alright, link. honestly."
link smiled and swam in front of you. you watched his every move and you let out a breathy and shaky sigh. link stood in the water, towering over you by a few centimetres. he stared into your eyes and smiled.
his blue eyes were putting you in a trance and you couldn't look away. those dashing eyes always managed to do that, no matter where you were or what time it was. it was mysterious and strange and you were one curious girl.
the blonde leaned in slightly, raising one hand just about the water. your eyelids fluttered a little and you, too, leaned in.
splash!
your eyes widened at what just happened.
link was currently laughing like a mad-man, and he held his sides trying to contain them. he covered his mouth with one hand and he tried to stifle it.
you were soaking wet!
your hair was drenched, clinging to your body and covering your eyes slightly. you moved your hair out of your face and wiped your eyes. link had splashed you with cold water! link immediately stopped laughing when he saw something flash in your e/c eyes. he started to back away when you took a step forward.
"u-uhh, y/n...?"
you smiled at the tone in his voice and moved your hands through the cold water, slapping it in link's direction.
link looked shocked when you had splashed him back, but replaced it with a smile at your happy figure. he started to chase you through the water and you tried running away.
— later —
you and link spent at least 3 hours in the lake, splashing, playing and relaxing in the cold water. you slowly felt yourself grow comfortable around him, even though you both were wearing almost nothing.
you were now currently sitting in front of the camp fire you set earlier, watching link cook. it was about 4:50 pm, and the sun had dried you and link. you were now currently wearing his white shirt he wore under his bright blue tunic with your pair of pants. the undershirt was a little big on you, but you nor link didn't mind. link wore his tunic, and had put on his brown trousers. the day was slowly disappearing and you shivered. you shuffled forward so that the fire was close enough to keep you warm.
link was humming a happy tune and you found it adorable. who knew that the once brave and stoic knight of hyrule had a playful and chatty side! link finished his cooking and he grabbed a bowl for you and himself. he poured the mushroom soup into your bowl first, and gently gave it to you while murmuring a 'careful, it's hot'. you gladly took it and blew the soup, making the steam cool down. link did the same and he sat opposite you, staring into the fire and looking at you every now and then.
"wow, link! this is really good!"
link didn't say anything, but he smiled at you a little. link would still show his stoic side but, around you, he was more chatty. so why was he being so quiet all of a sudden?
link cleared his throat and looked directly in your e/c eyes. he looked uneasy and nervous.
"hey...y/n?"

"yeah?"

"you know a lot about me and i hardly know anything about you. what was your life like before you met me? i mean you don't have to tell me, but i kinda think it's appropriate that you do. you know, since we're travelling together and such..."

"..."
the silence was killing link. he'd never seen you so worried and anxious before. you were a bright girl, and link really admired that in you. however, your past was a story you wished you were never part of. but link had a point, besides since you'd be travelling with him, you might as well tell him at least some parts from your life.
"well...like you, link, i also woke up with no memories. or anything."
link looked at you with wide eyes, interested in how uncanny it was that you both had the same fate. Link raised an eyebrow, he stood up and walked around the fire-pit and left his soup on the ground. he sat down next to you and placed his chin in one hand, his elbow propping him up on his knee. you blushed and thank the goddesses for the fire's reflection on your face or link would've noticed the pink hue covering your cheeks. you continued on your past.
"it was around three years ago, and i had woken up in rito village...according to the elder and teba. i had strange blue markings on my arm for the first few months, but eventually, they started to fade away. teba and the other ritos taught me the basics of surviving in the wild. i'm not sure what happened to me exactly, but i heard teba and the elder mentioning words like 'has woken' and 'still young'. i'm...not really sure what they mean, but, it doesn't matter."
link nodded, listening to your every word and you smiled. a sad one.
link spoke up quietly and asked a lot of questions.
"so you don't have family either?"

"no."

"...i can relate. the same thing happened to me, but i didn't have any blue markings on me. wait, so what were you doing on the day i saved you?"

"i was looking for kass. he said to meet up there, but he never arrived."
link suddenly got annoyed when you mentioned 'kass' again. he retracted his hand from his chin and sat up straight, looking into the fire.
"so you've been in the wild for a while, huh?"

"yeah, i guess. i mean i lived in rito village for a while, but gave up my hut for the rito children and their mother. i owe my life to them, they've taught me a lot..but..."

"but...what?"
you blushed in embarrassment, you still had a lot to learn in terms of survival and essential skills in the wild. for instance...
"i can't tame a horse."

link bit his lip, wanting to laugh. taming and having your own horse was probably one of the very basic and essential skill you need if you were to travel out and about in hyrule. you hit link on the shoulder when you saw his reaction and you chuckled.
"you know...i can teach you."
your face lit up, and you beamed at him showing your pearly whites. finally! you'll get your own horse and have your own adventures!
"really?! oh, link! thank you!"
you jumped into link, embracing him with a tight squeeze. he laughed and embraced you back, rubbing your back soothingly and securely, as if he didn't want to let you go.
"we'll go get you one tomorrow, if you want."
you nodded vigorously and grinned at him. you felt yourself slowly grow tired and you yawned. link smiled at you and gently pushed you off of him. you rubbed your eyes and stared at link as he stood up. you were dazed from the amount of energy you used today and link reached out a hand to you. you gladly took it and you stood up, walking over to your make-shift bed. it was right next to link's and he tucked you in. you smiled at him and mumbled a 'goodnight link' and he felt his heart grow soft when he saw your peaceful face. you fell asleep as soon as you relaxed into your pillow and you smiled slightly.
"goodnight, y/n. i'll make sure nothing will harm you."
