This is the real chapter I swear :)
-----------------------
I stood outside the dormitory building, glancing around the clearing. I took a few breaths, before running towards the gate.
I matched my steps with the sound of my heartbeat, letting the sound deafen everything around me.
I stepped out of the gate, glancing to my sides for any signs of him.
There was no one around.
Suddenly, a flicker of movement from across the street caught my attention. I focused my gaze on the figure, immediately preparing my mental state for what was about to come.
There, standing across the street, was none other than Levi.
He eyes bored into me, making me shiver slightly.
There were no cars on the road. I watched him take each step as he crossed the length that separated us.
My heart raced faster and faster as he got closer. I could feel so many emotions swirling in me. From anger to anxiety and fear.
A soft breeze picked up, making Levi's hair gently sway along as took the final step, stopping about two feet from me.
At first, we stood there in silence, no words shared between us. We stared at each other like it was the first time we have ever met.
Finally, Levi spoke in a quiet tone. "I know you wish to say many things, but not here (Y/N). Let's go to a more private place."
Despite me wanting so bad to say "NO LET'S DO THIS RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW", I could understand why he would want it that way.
I reluctantly nodded, and Levi slowly stepped beside me and started walking towards the direction of the old, abandoned park.
We slipped past the gates and Levi led me through the undergrowth, his steps quiet and confident.
Eventually, we reached the grassy clearing Levi had shown me years ago, but we didn't stop there. He kept on walking on a steady pace, crossing the area of soft grass.
At this point, there was only one place he was headed to.
A place I haven't been to since my first year ever being in this school.
Levi stopped quite a distance away from the small stream, and stood there silently with his back turned to me.
I caught up to him and stood behind him, and after a few seconds, he turned around and faced me.
I let my emotions speak for themselves.
The sound of my hand making contact with his face seemed to echo around us.
Levi had his head turned to the side from the force of the impact, his face expressionless.
I bit my lip, trying to hold back the tears that was threatening to fall from my eyes.
"I hate you."
Levi glanced back at me, his eyes filled with sorrow and immense guilt. "...I know."
"Why?" I choked out.
Levi slowly shook his head, avoiding eye contact. "I let it get the better of me."
I stayed silent, and Levi continued.
"I didn't know what to do," Levi said to me, his voice cracking. "So I blindly followed his words without thinking how it would make you feel."
The raven clenched his jaw, bringing a hand to cover his eyes. "I was so desperate for a solution that I just did what he said."
I could hear his voice cracking more and more. "It was such a stupid, selfish, ignorant and foolish thing for me to do! I-.. I have no hopes that you will forgive me but--"
He took his hand away from my face, and placed both his hands on my shoulders. I let out a silent gasp as I saw tears dripping from his usually cold steel blue eyes.
He bowed his head, shakily whispering to me, "I am so sorry..! I'm sorry, I'm so sorry! I'm sorry (Y/N)! I'm sorry for ignoring you! I'm sorry for blocking you! I'm so sorry for... unfairly pushing you out of my life! I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry!"
Tears slipped down my face without my consent, but I could no longer hold it back. Levi was a proud person; he wasn't the type to repeatedly say sorry to someone, or even cry in front of someone.
It breaks my heart to see him like this. Seeing him so broken and desperate. His voice carried nothing but regret and guilt and his hands felt weak on my shoulder.
"Levi..."
Levi took in a shaky breath, still keeping his head down. "I... understand if you could never forgive me. I only want you to know... that I am sorry, and I regret everything I've done."
I listened to him speak, his shaking and cracking voice barely audible.
I took a deep breath, forcing myself to not forgive him for everything and hug him like nothing ever happened.
"Levi..." I started slowly. "I heard the recording."
"I know," he whispered lowly.
"You said something that concerns me."
Levi stayed silent, and I continued a few moments after. "You said to Kenny, even after he stayed away from the person he loved, it still managed to get to him."
Levi's response came out late. "Yes, I did."
"What did you mean by.... 'it'?"
Levi's breath hitched, and he shook his head. "I can't tell you."
"Why?"
The raven slowly stood up, staring at me with his reddened eyes. "I can't, (Y/N). I can't."
"Levi please," I persisted. "I want to know why you were so desperate that you'd do this."
Levi stared at me with a distressed expression.
"Tell me Levi. Please, tell me. Tell me so I can forgive you!"
I felt my voice strain as I tried to convince Levi. "Please! Tell me!"
"NIGHTMARE!" Levi shouted abruptly, flinching harshly afterwards.
"Night.. mare?"
The raven looked back and forth, running a hand through his hair. "....Every night, I get... nightmares. I close my eyes and see the same thing, over and over again. Everyday, I see you by my side. Everyday, I see a new type of torture given to you."
My mouth was left agape in shock and disbelief.
"All I know is that, whenever you're close to me, something horrible always happens to you."
"Levi," I said softly, "It's just a dream--"
"No!" Levi cut me off. "It's not just a dream. Kenny had the same thing with his ex! At first, he ignored it. But then, something really did happen. She was attacked by i--, by thugs."
"Thugs?" I echoed in confusion.
"The main point is... I couldn't stand it. It was stupid and selfish to do, but... I felt like I needed to do it. So you wouldn't get hurt."
"....so what made you change your mind?"
Levi wiped his eyes from any remaining tears. "Me leaving you, me staying with you, it doesn't matter. Because in the end you still get hurt either way. And I'm sorry for that... I'm so sorry..."
After that, there was only silence. It was just me staring at Levi, while he stared at the ground. I used the silence given to think about everything.
I gave it some thought, and finally made up my mind.
"Levi."
He slowly glanced up. "...yes?"
"Are you truly sorry for what you've done? Do you really regret everything?" It was a stupid question seeing that I already know the answer, but I needed to make sure.
Levi nodded. "Everything."
I mentally sighed and prepared myself for the next words. "I'll give you one last chance. We'll start over, from the beginn--"
Levi rushed forward, wrapping his arms around my shoulders tightly. I could feel him burying his face in the crook of my neck, his grasp tightening.
A part of me wanted to push him away, but another part of me wanted to just close my eyes and enjoy being in his arms.
I let him stay in that position, until he suddenly pulled away with a guilty look on his face. "Ah, sorry, I shouldn't have done that..."
I shook my head. "It's.... fine."
I held out my hand, gazing at his blue eyes. "Let's start over. Friends?"
Levi stared at my hand, before softly grasping it and giving it a shake.
He broke his cold façade, a small smile forming on his face.
"Friends."
