Koi made breakfast early that morning and took it to Amani's room. She should be awake by now.
Amani was seated on the bed, her head buried between her legs. She was engulfed in thoughts and had not been able to sleep the entire night. Her world was crumbling. She thought she'd never have to face this. She thought Brian would never know the truth about her,let alone her real name.
Koi put the cup of coffee and the mandazis on the side table and looked at Amani.
"Taraji, you should have-" Koi was rudely cut off.
Amani glared at her. "Its Amani! Amani!"
Koi sighed. "Okay, Amani. You should have breakfast..."
Amani looked at Koi. She was sorry for how she'd reacted. Koi had helped her out when Brian kicked her out. She had accommodated her regardless of the fact that they were not in good terms.
"Thanks...," she mumbled. "But I'm really not in the mood to eat."
Koi was pissed when she said that. She was fed up. Amani was acting like a 16-year old who'd been dumped and heartbroken by a horny adolescent when it really wasn't the case.
"Stop acting like a baby! Its not like you loved Brian..."
Amani was silent for a while, just staring at Koi then she said, "that's the problem. All along I thought I was not in love with him but, now that we're apart, I realise just how much I love and need him. I got attached!"
"It's over Amani!" Koi said bluntly. "Its over!"
Amani stared at Koi and for a moment, she wondered if she hated the bullshit that came out of her bloody mouth or the bloody mouth itself. Koi was being harsh and inconsiderate. The only thing she wanted now is somebody who could tell her... you'll be okay darling... He'll take you back definitely... He can't live without you... Not its over! Argh!
"Aren't you going to work?," asked Koi.
Amani shook her head. Koi was really annoying her.
"Well, I have to go to work," Koi said and Amani's face lit up with a smile. "And since you're excited about me going to work, why don't you eat breakfast then I go?"
Amani mumbled something but Koi couldn't catch it.
"Its either you eat or I stay!"

"I'm a sex addict!" The patient said for the millionth time.
Lavin, sat on the seat across Brian and kept repeating the same thing. She knew she was pissing Brian off and she quite enjoyed it. Her best friend, Christine, had suggested she start therapy due to her addiction. At first, she thought it was stupid but then, Christine being Christine, lured her into it and here she was, regretting why she didn't trust her first instincts. This is lame... Though she quite enjoyed watching this hot psychiatrist shrug and get irked. She just enjoyed looking at him and think wild thoughts of him in her dirty mind.
Brian shrugged. "You've already said that Mrs-"
"Its Ms.Lavin," She corrected.
"So Ms.Lavin, I need to hear something new. Tell me more about your addiction, what you think causes it, why and how you can solve it, when and how it started,"Brian said politely.
Lavin burst into a laugh. "So is this what people pay therapy for? The questions you asked me are the questions you as the psychologist should tell me as the patient. Not the other way round..."
Brian looked at her. This young Lady was very beautiful. She had a very smooth complexion with starry black eyes popping out and her long black hair tumbling on her shoulders. She'd worn a silky skimpy dress which showed her well cut out body with long legs in black boots. Lavin looked lovely and Brian couldn't help but admire God's Art.
"No, I'm just trying to say we should talk... You know, talk like friends. Tell me how it started, how you feel about it... you know, just like friends,"Brian explained with a book on his lap, looking at Lavin.
Lavin licked her lower lip. "Well, sorry... I'm not into the friends thing... Why don't we just do the more than friends thang?" She was seated on top of the table now and had grabbed Brian's tie.
"Hey Lavin! Lavin!" Brian pulled back, barking at her.
Lavin coyly looked at him. "Say my name again baby!"
Brian scowled at her when she let go of her tie. "This is highly unprofessional!"
"Is this the part I'm supposed to say sorry Doc?"
Brian smirked. "This is the part you wave the doc goodbye!"
"What! Our session is done! How quick?"
"Lavin, please find another psychologist you can talk to..."Said Brian dryily. "Honestly,I can't stand being your therapist."
Lavin's eyes gleamed with tears. She was crying! Brian was caught off guard.
"What's wrong Ms.Lavin?"
Lavin brushed off her tears swiftly then burst into a laugh. "You bought that? I really should be an actress."
Brian huffed. "Okay, now could you please leave my office? I have other patients to attend to..."
Lavin stared at him. "Look, I'm a patient too..."
"But you don't want to talk! What I'm I supposed to do?"
Lavin grinned."Beg me to talk."
"I have a feeling that behind that grin, you're hiding something. Something dark. But you don't want to be seen as vulnerable or weak so you just blend all that into a fake smile..."Said Brian staring deep into those pretty eyes. "But soon, it will break you. It will take you to a dark place where no one can save you... So you better start talking now."
All this time she was silent. Trying her best not to make eye contact with Brian. Then she said softly, "I'm not weak!"
She took her bag and left quietly.

Amani was trying to reach Brian. Koi had told her not to call or text him but here she was, doing the exact opposite thing. Deep down, she knew he would not reply or pick the calls. But she desperately wanted to hear his voice. She was done with the games and the secrets. She was ready to tell him everything.
Then he picked this time.
Her heart stopped then started throbbing faster and louder. "H...h...hey."
"Hey," Brian mumbled.
She took in a deep breath. "How are you?"
He was silent and for a minute she thought he'd hung up then he said, "go straight to the point. Why the hell did you call!"
The bitterness in his tone pierced a stake through her heart and she mumbled, "never mind."
She hung up.

Brian sat in his office, toying with the pencil on his desk. He was immersed in thoughts. He hated it. It was Amani... Taraji... Whatever her damn name was. Why the hell would she lie all this time about her freaking name.
First, she'd lied about not having family, then her sister popped up in their house and the two had the guts to lie to him. Then she lied about being an orphan then he found out that she actually did have a mother, and the 'Tracee' girl was actually her sister. Then this... her real name? Taraji? Who the hell did he fall in love with? An impostor! He felt stupid again... But, he was already missing her. Her absence in the house was inevitable. He missed her laugh. Her smile. Her quirkiness. Her clumsiness. Her voice... He just missed her.
You shouldn't be missing her B, You shouldn't!!!
Brian really needed to talk to someone. He wanted to pour his heart out and to be adviced. As a psychologist, he knew this was good for his mental health. But Daniel was not around. Funny how these days he loved talking to his dad. Then he remembered someone...Karis...
He took his phone and dialled Karis...
"Yoooow! Bro!" Greeted Brian when Karis picked up.
"I'm in a meeting, Can I call you later?" He was panting.
Karis? In a meeting?
Brian heard a female voice cackle and he knew this was a sexual meeting.
"We'll talk later bro,I'm kind of held up right now!" Said Karis, then hung up.
Sure you're held up...
Then Brian tried to call his father,Daniel but he wasn't picking up.
Where the hell is this old man!

Brian drove to Daniel's house that evening after work. The house was not as it was years ago. The walls' paint had faded with time and the beautiful flowers that surrounded it and gave it life were no more. The well trimmed green grass that got a lot of workers fired by his mum had turned into pale green. This house was aging. Just like the owner.
He parked his car into the lot as the lazy gateman, who he'd found deep in sleep, walked him into the house asking him unnecessary questions.
"Thanks Wanjala, but I was taught how to knock,"He said politely, hoping the gateman would just leave him alone. But he didn't. He was staring at his pockets, simpering stupidly.
"Oh,you want money!" Brian dug in his pocket as Wanjala grinned, rubbing his hands in glee. "Chukua hii mia..."
"Boss mia! Hii ni Kenya na economy imepanda boss!" The gateman grumbled.
"Then give the money back to me!" Said Brian. But Wanjala turned to leave, still grumbling about Kenya's Economy.
Brian didn't knock. He just pushed his way into the house. He was flabbergasted by what he saw!
What the hell!
Lilly was on the couch, half naked with his dad on top of her. They were as shocked as he was.
"Lilly!"
