Landen had explained mostly everything to me. We were in fact, at-rather in Mount Weather. Some of their men, "Mountain Men" had seen the explosion from our drop ship and had come to see what it was. That's when they saw all of us.
I nodded along as I listened. What he was telling me made sense and it sounded perfect. We were safe here. There was food, running water, heat and most importantly, no Grounders.
But as he spoke, the feeling of unease tried to crawl its way to the surface. I didn't know if it was because of my missing friends and brother or because I didn't trust this place. Either way, I had learned not to rely too heavily on seemingly perfect things.
"You okay?" Landen asked when he noted the distant look on my face.
We came to a stop as he hit a button for what I assumed was an elevator. I took this chance to let out a sigh, "Yeah, I'm just worried."
The elevator doors opened and we stepped in, "Worried about what?"
I looked over at him. His eyes were a mixture of blue and green and they were currently boring into mine.
"I barely know you, and I don't fully trust you,-"
Landen cracked a smile, "I don't fully trust you either if that makes you feel any better."
"Great." I paused, deciding whether or not to open up to him. I decided I might as well. "I'm going to share with you what's worrying me, so please don't make me regret trusting you."
Landed nodded, "I won't, I promise."
I pushed my back against the wall of the elevator, "Some of my friends weren't with us when your men came. I-" I let out a quick breath, "I think they might be dead."
Landen was studying my expression as he spoke, "You care about these people a lot?"
I nodded, "More than anything."
The elevator came l a halt as he stepped out, waiting for me to follow after him. I did.
"What are their names?" He asked as we rounded another corner.
"There's Finn, he's my brother well my twin actually. And then there's Octavia, she's been my best friend since we were 16. And then, then there's Bellamy, he's..." I trailed off, who was Bellamy to me?
"He's what?"
"Bellamy is Octavia's brother."I finally answered.
Landen ran a hand through his dark brown hair, "Well I haven't seen their names around but I'll keep my eyes open. We're planning on bringing in any survivors so we'll find them, alright?"
I gave him a grateful smile, "Thank you, Landen."
After a few moments of us walking in silence we came to a stop. Landen pointed towards the door in front of us, "We're here."
I looked from the door and then back to him, "My friends are in there?"
He didn't answer put instead pushed the door open. Upon its opening I was able to see into the room. It was like the room I had gone into to dress, nice but still comfortable. There were dozens of bunk beds around the room, and sitting on them were my friends.
When the heard the creaking of the door opening, everyone looked over to where Landen and I were standing.
Jasper was the first one up, yelling my name as he rushed towards me. Monty followed close behind, as did some of the other kids.
I let out a laugh as Jasper came barrelling into me, almost knocking me over in the process, "Thank God you're okay." he breathed, hugging me tighter.
I smiled as I wrapped my arms around his torso, "Wow look at you all dressed up." I teased as I pulled back to examine his outfit. Jasper cracked a bashful smile as he took a step back, allowing Monty to pull me into a hug.
I hugged him back, even tighter than I had Jasper, "I thought we lost you." I mumbled into his shoulder.
Monty stepped back giving me a large smile, "I'm okay, I've been here."
Somewhere in between hugs Landen had snuck out. There was a small part of me that was hoping I would get to see him again.
Once I had greeted mostly everyone, my eyes began to search for Clarke and Raven, but I couldn't find them among the other. "Where's Clarke and Raven?" I asked Jasper, my eyes doing another scan of the room.
Jasper let out a sigh, "Clarke's still in quarantine-"
"-But she's okay?" I confirmed.
Jasper nodded, his face falling slightly, "Raven wasn't brought in."
I look of confusion covered my face, "What do you mean she wasn't brought in? She was-
"Everybody listen up!" A lady called as she entered the room, interrupting my conversation Jasper. I gave Jasper a look as to say "We'll talk later" as I turned back to the woman. She was around our age, dressed nicely and holding a clipboard in her hand. "I'm going to take you on a tour of Mount Weather. All I ask is that you stay together and raise your hand if you have any questions, got it?"
We all looked around at each other before slowly nodding. "All right then," she said, giving us an over exaggerated smile, "Let's get going."
---
"This here is the dining hall which is one of the largest rooms in Mount Weather, it can fit up to 500 people at a time." The lady, her name was apparently Keenan, said as she lead us through the large room. We all had booklets in our hands with maps of the bunker.
Someone in front of me put their hand into the air and Keenan smiled when she spotted it, "Yes," she called, pointing to the boy.
"What's the largest room?" He asked causing her to give him yet another large smile, it had to be fake, no one smiled that much.
"Well," she began as she lead us to another part of the dining hall, "Level 6 is our largest level. It is where you will find the common areas as well as the housing for most of the residents of Mount Weather. Level 6 along with Level 5, where we currently are, are the only two levels that are open. No entry is permitted in levels 1,2,3,4 or 7 unless specifically indicated" she cheerfully explained as we all crowded in around her.
"What's on those levels?" I asked from the back of the group.
Keenan was clearly unimpressed with the lack of hand raising from me, but nonetheless she answered my question, "Level 1 and 2 are mostly warehouses and science labs. Level 3 is medical labs as well as the quarantine ward which is where you were when you were brought in." She paused for a moment to allow us to absorb the information before she began again, "Our medical facilities-" she had barely begun when someone entering the room from behind us had caught the attention of me and a few others.
Jasper and I both spun around to see Clarke walking into the room sporting a light blue track suit, much more practical than my outfit.
"Clarke!" I breathed, rushing to pull her into a hug. She wrapped her arms tightly around me before pulling back and giving me a smile before moving to hug Monty and Jasper.
"Finn and Bellamy?" she asked once she stepped back from Jasper. Her eyes were searching the room.
I felt my heart clench at the mention of Finn and Bellamy. A look of uncomfort overcame Jasper's face, "Clarke, they uh-they didn't make it."
My head snapped over to Jasper, how was he so sure?
Clarke shook her head, "We don't know that."
"Clarke's right," I piped in, "Landen said they were looking for anymore survivors, they'll find them."
Clarke and Jasper both looked at me in confusion, "Who's Landen?"
I shrugged, "He's the guy who brought me out from quarantine."
They both gave me an unconvinced look before deciding to accept my answer. We weren't able to discuss anything further due to the fact that Keenan approached us.
"Welcome, Clarke" she said, handing her the same booklet the rest of us had, "If you have any questions, I'm Keenan." She gave Clarke one of those fake smiles before walking back to the front of the group.
Once she was out of earshot, I turned to Clarke, "She's annoying, right?"
