"Woah! What happened to you?"
Markus couldn't help but to stiffen up when he heard sarcasm in Josh's voice. He'd been caught. "Yea Markus, you should run a system diagnostic."
Simon said walking past the group

Markus wanted to self destruct

He wasn't stupid he knew Simon was being sarcastic...
Right?.. hopefully.

Markus couldn't tell anymore. Simon usually wasn't the joking type so Markus didn't know how to react.

"I'm fine!"
Markus finally blurted out. "You guys needed something?" He asked trying desperately to change the topic.

"Glad you asked, the humans think we're peaceful thanks to the demonstration we did, so the senate highly suggests that we conference with the-"

"What he means is that we need to go talk with the president to sort this shit out." North cut in. Josh gave her a dirty look, and North smirked and snickered toward him.

North was a very attractive android, and none would disagree. Not even Markus. He would be lying to himself if he said he didn't find North attractive. And North seemed to take interest in Markus. Any normal android would take the opportunity face forward but Markus never found himself attracted to North in that type of way. He felt that every android wanted them to be a couple, but he wasn't really into her. Of course he still thought of her as a friend, and a good friend for that matter.

While North and Josh continued exchanging insults and stares, Markus rolled his eyes and looked around scanning the church. He wasn't really looking for anything in particular.
He soon stopped on Simon only to find him in standby mode. He looked so peaceful and calm. Markus was happy that Simon wasn't paranoid anymore. Prior to the demonstration, Simon was hesitant of going anywhere outside of Jericho. He was so paranoid that he couldn't have a proper standby session in fear that police would find where they were, and kill them.

Markus noted the way his hair shimmered against the light streaks bleeding from the halfway boarded up windows of the church. Simon's eyes weren't open but Markus could imagine them. That was the very first thing he noticed about him. Yes, Markus had seen androids with blue eyes before, but the way his radiated with fear and uncertainty caught Markus's attention when they first met.
His baby blue eyes reminded him of Carl's painting. Maybe that's also why it stood out to him so much.

That was Carl's favorite color

Blue

He would use it in almost every painting, and if not blue then a color with blue mixed into it. Blue was a primary color and considering everything Carl had taught him, he wasn't surprised he used it on every painting.
He especially used it on the last painting he made before he-

"Markus!" North snapped a finger in front of his face and Markus was back in reality.

"Sorry- I uh~ dozed off there." He smiled awkwardly tying to lighten the mood as he always would. Markus made it sound like he wasn't doing anything but deep down he knew he was guilty of examining Simon's standby body.

"Are you comin' or are you just gonna keep looking in that direction?" She pointed to where Simon was sitting. She didn't say it, but made it very clear that she knew what Markus was looking at.

Once again, the warm blood the circulated his body arose and traveled in every crevice of his face. Not because North had caught him, but because of the way North's tone sounded, almost jealous...

...almost...

"I'm coming!" Markus barked.
The group soon walked out of the church and headed to their designated location.
-

There confrence was being held in a nearby yet far away undisclosed location. Because of this, they wanted to take the self driving car. They sat there awkwardly. As they passed the streets that were once a wreck from Capitol Park, Markus couldn't help but to realize that this street was invaded with androids a couple days ago. He couldn't even begin to think what he would've done if things didn't turn out the way they did.

"So, why didn't Simon come?" Markus asked. He looked at North and Josh expecting one of them to answer but none did.

"Because he's a caretaker android and would work best if he stayed at the church watching over the damaged androids." His eyebrows furrowed slightly. "I'm a caretaker android too, why shouldn't I stay?" North sighed and looked over to him. "Markus don't start. You know why, and besides Simon wanted to stay. You know him." Markus couldn't argue with that. Simon doesn't really like being social. He remembered once that Simon had told him that if it wasn't for his protocol telling him what to do, he would have never been able to take care of his past owners. He never really elaborated on that, but Markus figured if he wanted to, he would. Anyway, Simon would be social when he had to be, but if it's a choice then he'd take a rain check no questions asked.

And it wasn't a bad trait to have per se. Every android was different, in fact Markus thought it was cute how shy he was the first time they met. After they stole the entire truck form the Cyberlife warehouse, North set it up so they would be able to get to know Markus on a personal level after they rationalized the supplies. Based on how determined Simon was before they had left, Markus was expecting him to act a little bit like North and Josh combined. Strong-willed, yet tranquil. They were sitting on the floor together and Markus was surprised when he barely said a word while North and Josh flooded his software with questions.

-"So, where did you come from? What did you do before you found out about Jericho?" Markus looked around the room sheepishly. "I.. uh.." Josh gently grabbed North's shoulder and shook it to get her attention. "North, he doesn't want to talk about it." She looked toward him and gave him a death stare. "He didn't say that. Did he?" Josh rolled his eyes. "It's obvious!" He snapped. They began arguing back and forth. Markus felt a little out of place until he noticed Simon. He wasn't saying anything, just staring. "What about you?" Both North and Josh immediately stopped fighting to figure out who he was talking to.

Simon stared dumbfounded at Markus. "Me?" He asked perplexed. Markus smiled innocently. "Yea. You're really quiet." Simon stared off to the side at North. "Sorry, I just don't have much to say." Markus chuckled softly and replied. "Well, I'm sure you already know this but I'm Markus." He stretched his arm out in front of Simon. He knew this was a bit of a stretch, but he wanted to make him feel comfortable. "I'm Simon." He grabbed Markus's hand and shook it slowly. They stood like that for a longer amount of time that was comfortable, but luckily for them they had North and Josh to cut in.

"Yea, Simon isn't really the talking type." They let go of each other, but maintained eye contact. It was almost as if they were trying to read each other's minds.-

He never mentioned how weird he had felt in that moment to anyone. But his overall point was Simon would not know what to say and just sit there not adding anything special to the conversation that would already be boring to deal with, so Markus understood why they didn't bring him along.

-

Once they arrived to there location, they headed inside huddled together.
Markus spend the rest of the 5 hours in the conference room dozing off
He let North and Josh do the talking as he wasn't really paying attention.

Soon he found himself thinking about Stratford Tower again. He couldn't get it out of his head. He knew he would have to push it behind him at some point, and he tried but he couldn't. He remembered Simon clinging on to him for dear life. Markus would never have let him fall, but just the thought of losing a friend made Markus's systems malfunction.

"Right Markus?" Markus quickly snapped out of his daze as North brought him back, just like she had before. "Yea.. right, right."
He didn't know what he was agreeing with, but since North got angry when Markus dozed off he had to answer.

-

They had soon left the office and headed back toward the 'new' Jericho

"The humans said that they can only give us the right to own property at the moment."

It was silent

"We have to wait awhile before they can give us any more privileges and we have to go to the Detroit precinct for tomorrow's meeting."

Josh was usually very enthusiastic about anything 'nice' the humans would do for us, even the small things

But it looked as if he wasn't satisfied with owning property and wanted more
Then again we deserve more
Suffering in silence since the day of our creation and finally we tell humans who we really are

What we really are

And this is what they give us??

Markus understood it though
He knew it wasn't an easy task
Giving a new born intelligent life rights or freedom all in one go

He did lead the march after all so he understood what kind of pressure can be put on the president and the government

The only difference was that there were one of Markus and thousands and people working for the them

"Better than nothing."

Markus cut in

-

Once they got back to the church North and Josh scattered to tell other androids what's happening

Markus just stood there like he was waiting for orders

After awhile of standing and staring, he finally walked back to the top of the church
Where he was before Simon came to get him

Where is Simon?

Markus had a thought while walking up the stairs to the bell

He hadn't seen him since he came into the church

Markus finally reached the top of the stairs
He opened the door and-

Markus stopped in his tracks

He saw Simon

Simon was looking down at the civilians walking

Just like Markus had done

He didn't say anything though
He just stood there, staring at the back of Simon's head
