Alexa's PoV
The rest of the week had passed by quickly. School was boring. Luckily I didn't really run into the trio much after monday and we ignored each other at lunch.
However, my rest from all the drama that had happened was over as today was friday. The boys didn't really make a huge deal of Max's birthday at school, but that would probably be different at the party.
The party was at eight, Cathy had told me she would be over at six, basically not giving me a choice to disagree.
I heard the doorbell ring as I opened it to reveal a way too overexcited Cathy, grinning from ear to ear. Will was stood behind her, sighing as his sister pushed him inside.
"Hey, what's Will doing here? Shouldn't you be there already with your friends?" I questioned.
"Nope, I'm your ride." Will answered, scanning the inside of my house. "Not bad." He nodded in approvement.
"Come on, we don't have time for this, we have to get ready!" Cathy ushered me upstairs like she knew where she was going.
I brought her into my room as she dropped a bag filled with makeup on my desk. "Okay so, we start with your makeup and then your hair."
"But I don't even want to go, why bother doing my hair?"
"You wanted to go until my brother mentioned it was Max's birthday, plus you're going so you might as well look stunning and make an entrance."
Cathy ignored all my disapproving comments about how I didn't want to stand out and just wanted to hide in the shadows as parties weren't my thing.
She settled for some mascara, eyeliner and light, red lipgloss as she mentioned how it would suit my dress more. Then, to keep the natural look that I liked, she gently curled the ends of my hair so that they flowed beautifully down my shoulders in light curls.
I had to admit, I was impressed. This girl had skills.
"Wow thank you." I said after I was finished with my outfit. I really loved this dress too, it reminded me of the midnight blue sky at night. Something I liked to watch often to help me sleep.
"No problem, your blond hair really adds to the whole look though, it's such a nice shade as well."
"Um, thanks." I said dryly, not knowing how to respond to all the praise and compliments.
After getting a "Hurry up!" from Will downstairs, Cathy quickly put on her emerald dress that really complimented her green eyes and waved her shoulder length, blond hair (which was a much lighter shade than mine). She had already put on makeup before coming here, her red lipstick standing out. She paired her outfit with some heels whilst I opted for black flats.
We hurried downstairs and went straight to the car parked in front. Will glared at us for being fifteen minutes late as he drove us to the party. Surprisingly, he had only gone along the main road for like five minutes before turning left into the woods that were around my house. "Wait, where are we going?" I wondered.
"Did you not know he lived close by?" Will grinned.
"No.. But why in the middle of the woods?" We had driven quite far into the woods, it was almost starting to scare me a bit.
Finally we came across a huge house. That's when I realized that everyone that sat at the table we had lunch on with us had a huge house, mine being the smallest..
Just how rich was everyone here?
I watched the house that towered over me, it was made of a mix between the colour of the dark wood and grey walls, the fading blue door being the thing that stood out.
We walked up to the door as Will knocked on it. Isaac opened the door only seing Will at first as he hugged his friend, "Hey, glad you could make it man."
His eyes moved behind Will's figure and found me, standing awkwardly out of place.
He ignored me. "Come in, you two as well." He motioned to me and Cathy.
The inside stank of alcohol, couples were either grinding on the dance floor or making out everywhere and the music was blasting so loud out the speakers that I thought I was going to go deaf.
I really hate parties.
"Okay, attention everyone." Ace stood up next to the DJ on the stage as he tapped the mic to get people's attention. "As you know, today is Max's birthday, but he only turns seventeen at 10pm, so we can technically still bully him until then."
Ace, Isaac and Will all exchanged a look.
.....
"Anyways, Max-" he sighed. "Would you please at least stand up."
The figure that had been sat down in the dark stood up as light flooded onto him. I got a look at his outfit, it was just black, ripped jeans paired with a blue T-shirt that matched his sky blue eyes. Wait, I knew the colour of his eyes? This was such a casual look yet it somehow made him look really handsome, as the outfit fitted his personality. He looked troubled as though something was occupying him, but at the same time annoyed to be at his own party. However ironic that is.
"A few words? Please?" Ace pouted. Okay that looked too weird.
Max mumbled something before coming closer to the mic and politely (yep, that surprised me too) but he politely spoke into it "Thanks for coming, I hope you have a good night tonight." He left after those last words before he sat down at the couch that was in the opposite side of the room. These kind words earned him smiles and blushes from all the girls whilst all the guys cheered screaming "let's finally get this party started!"
Yep, this definitely wasn't my thing.
Will disappeared with Isaac and Ace as those three were actually having fun, whilst leaving me and Cathy behind.
"So, you glad you came?" She asked, hopeful.
"Not really." I told her honestly.
"Well, let's change that!" She grabbed my hand, a look of determination on her face, and dragged me to the middle of the dance floor.
"Cathy, I don't dance." I narrowed my eyes at her.
"Mhm, I don't care, we're just letting loose okay? Think of it as a break before a tough, boring, annoying-...The adjectives could keep coming, -dull school year."
"At least it would be normal. "
"That's not fun, come on!" She started swaying her hips to the music.
After some consideration, I followed her lead.
This actually wasn't that bad, we danced for a while before I felt a pair of eyes on me. My head turned instinctively towards the person with sky blue eyes.
Why did we keep making eye contact? But for some reason unknown to me, this time, he kept looking at me, I could feel his stare but I kept dancing too entranced in the song. Music did that to me, I forgot about everything around me and all the worries I had. Well, apart from today where I didn't forget about Max watching me, a slight grin on his face.
I spoke too soon. I don't know how long we had danced but an hour and a half had easily gone by. I did forget about him watching me as when I looked back to the couch, he was gone. Why did I feel so curious as though I wanted to know where he went?
Cathy and I sat down exhausted on some chairs at the side of the dance floor. "Ahh, I'm so exhausted, but that-" she said pointing at me "-was seriously awesome."
I laughed, actually agreeing with her.
"It's already half past nine!" She exclaimed. I looked at the time. Half an hour before Ace had asked us to be back here so we could all cheer for Max's birthday. Although Ace wouldn't admit it, it was mainly to embarrass and annoy Max.
I hadn't realised how tiring dancing was until we had stopped. When I was on the dance floor I was fine, but now I started to feel dizzy. "I think I need some fresh air."
Casey nodded before going over to Ryan, Will's ginger haired friend. When did those two become friends?
I went towards the kitchen to grab a glass of water, hoping the liquid would cool me down, I was seriously overheating. I must have danced too much, plus the loud music was starting to get to me. After having had a glass of water, I walked further down the hallways of the house to find that there was a back exit. Perfect! I need some air. I thought as I walked outside, a slight breeze blowing through the dark night air.
This was definitely refreshing.
There were a couple of lights in the ground that seemed to lead further in the same direction I was facing.
Curious, I followed the light lit path.
I arrived at a beautifully illuminated pool, surrounded by trees and bushes. It was a truly beautiful place.
My eyes scanned over the area before they landed on a familiar figure, sat on some rocks by the pool.
After contemplating what to do, I approached the figure that hadn't noticed me.

Max's PoV
I had walked out to get fresh air to clear my thoughts. What was wrong with me and why did I stare at her as she danced? To be honest, the way she moved had been entrancing.
I shook my head, trying to get those stupid thoughts out of my head.
Half an hour left. I was nervous, what if my mate was in our pack and I had known her all along? I thought about it. Rose was pretty, she was one of our fighters who stayed out front on the barrier of our territory to alert me if she saw any other werewolves. But I couldn't see myself liking her.
I hadn't noticed Alexa approaching me until I heard her footsteps. She was cautious, carefully approaching me as though I would hurt her. The thought stung, I would never hurt anyone.. Who wasn't attacking my pack.
I could see her clearer now, under the light of the moon, she was wearing a beautiful midnight blue dress.
The same colour as her eyes, I thought. Wait what?
The thought made me look into her eyes that gleamed magnificently in the moonlight.
She didn't break eye contact.
Why did this keep happening?
I watched her sit down next to me. "What are you doing here?" Her soft voice spoke, but she sounded nervous, as though she wasn't expecting an answer.
"I needed to get out of there, to breathe and think, you?" I didn't look at her, but kept staring at the sky.
"Same." She agreed, "Parties really aren't for me, I needed fresh air so I walked outside, then I followed the pretty lights here."
Pretty lights? Ah the garden lights. I smiled to myself, agreeing with her.
Her eyes widened.
"What?" I looked at her skeptically.
"You smiled! I don't think I've ever seen you smile before." She showed one herself.
Suddenly I realised something, what was I doing? Actually talking to a human, especially a girl? And I smiled? Did I enjoy talking to her? What the hell was wrong with me? I hated attention, conversations and girls that were clingy.
I stood up abruptly. Confusion flashed over her face. "Where are you-"
I walked away before she could finish.
I thought about the time, how long had I been talking to her?

Alexa's PoV
I watched him disappear.
Had I upset him?
I thought over our conversation, I don't remember saying anything that should have offended him..
I quickly ran after him, searching for an explanation.
I didn't understand why I kept thinking about him or looking at him or why I enjoyed talking to him, even though it was so short but that didn't matter right now. I just needed to catch up to him.
Happily he had only been walking along the path and hadn't reached the house yet. "Wait!" I called out.
He froze.
Its a though time stopped as I reached him. A weird breeze blew through the air sending a shiver down my spine as he was now facing me. I felt the air catch in my throat, suddenly, all I wanted to do was hug him.
I took a step closer. I wasn't in control of my own body right now as I simply looked into his eyes.
The moon was high in the sky and his eyes appeared to glow as I stared at him mesmerized.
He seemed to react in the same way, not moving away. His eyes searching mine.
Then his eyes widened as he stepped away. "Shit." He cursed, looking down. Before almost running away.
I couldn't move as I was left alone on the path.
What just happened?
