"how's mister mellow today"Klaus holds onto the pup taking him from vera's arms "he's good he didn't feel sick after yesterday, were just here to finish off all the vaccinations so we can be set to Cardiff" vera takes a seat next to the table where Klaus sets out mellow rubbing cloth on areas he did not put in the needles last
"alrighty lets start huh"he rubs mellows head . "did you wash him yesterday"he says to vera not looking up "shit, no i forgot i was erm... busy"she looks to the side 'ya i can tell, tommy branded you"he gives a short chuckle "tomorrow is his last day then all the boys are off"she looks down
"when're you going to Cardiff"she says "tonight" he Finishes the first needle "one more left buddy"Klaus says petting him but slips his thick german accent for the first time in England "so how long have you been in Birmingham"vera chooses to ignore it but keeps getting more curious "only the start of the year"he starts becoming uneasy "after that"she looks around the store "before that?"she glances a side eye at him "why are you so interested"he says with a hint of anger "alright sorry" Klaus knows that the hatred against german are getting worse ever since the war start, things just got better and calmer since the great war
"so will you be staying in central Cardiff or-"Klaus cuts her off "next to the sea"he says with a playful smile trying to seem less angry "oh then see you after tomorrow"she looks at him intently "alright done, and i sure hope so we don't have a proper address but our home is of course near the fire station"she nods to his answer "ok well thank you so much"she nods to him and takes out the cash and waits for Klaus to bring the tab "how are you going to empty all this out tonight?"she looks at him from her gaze around the room
"oh, tommy got some peaky blinders to do it for me i of course will be here though to make sure they don't break anything, it's a thank you for the mellow thing i guess"he smiles earning one to from vera, before she could turn around Klaus speaks"i know I'm in total debt to your husband and now to you but is it possible if you can take care of rosy and my other dog, can you bring them with you tomorrow to my home it's a blue house with a dark oak roof, i'd do it myself but i have to handle everything with the movers and all"he looks at vera with dilated pupils "sure, don't worry about it"she nods, Klaus goes into the back room and comes back with a little pup with butterfly wings for ears in a pink cage and another grey cage with a large satchel "i'll bring them over at 8 because it's too much to carry"he gives a warm smile, the sun shines in through the window making his golden hair glisten and his icy blue/ emerald green eyes turn ever paler, she's in awe...
"o-of course see you then Klaus" she smirks and walks off
7 pm, dinning room
everyone is drink, stuffing their mouths (mostly the boy) laughing and trying to show as much happiness as possible before the terror comes after tomorrow "but wait, if one of us comes back injured and isn't able to serve then where will he go"Finn looks up at everyone as they all go silent, thats they only thing they all forgot to discuss "they'll come to Scotland Finn, with me, you and Aida"polly smiles at the young boy, the laughing and drinking and eating continues, everyone then rolls over to the living room where all of the 10 people gather, they all talk about their day and they're plan during and after the war until interrupted by a knock, vera gets us and opens the door, Klaus opens the door with his breathtaking aryan yet scruffy look
the girl's eyes widen and whisper "i told you it was the neckless guy"they whisper amongst each other, he passes vera the cages and a satchel "let them run around for today it will be a long ride"he smiles and looks down at her as her cheeks go red, he waves at everyone inside and leaves
vera opens the cage and lets the pup out followed by a german Shepard making vera more curious "why did he leave his mutts here" tommy frowns his eyebrows "he's moving the whole store and his house together and he could't look after them while moving so he gave them to me to take him with us tomorrow and ill give them to him when we arrive"she sits down and they nod "he's kind of sketchy though"she crosses her legs, Aida looks up "how"
"he gets nervous when i ask him about his past, his accent slipped into like a proper german one when he was talking to mellow"vera sips her tea "maybe he's just a private person, don't judge him vera"polly gives her maternal scolding voice as vera giggles
in tommy's room
vera is sitting upward on the bed frame while tommy leans his back on her, shirtless. vera messages Tommy's upper back and neck "do you think about the boys, like will they come back alive"tommy says not looking up at vera but is stroking her thigh "yes but they're smart they will come back"she starts to play with his hair, a 10 minute silence falls on them all that can be heard is vera's humming a American love song "don't change tommy"she looks down at him only being able to his velvet black hair "don't let the war change your laughing, giggly self"she stands up on the bed only in her undergarments and he nods
