Chapter 17:
I lowered down my hoodie as I yawned; walking around the park while spinning my umbrella with my fingers.
I watched as kids run around and even some riding the swing. I yawned as my eyes start roaming around the park; hoping to find a nice place to stay.
My eyes landed on a small, wooden bench located beside a tree. I approached it and soon got a closer look at the bench. It was dusty and there were two candy wrappers scattered in the bench. It was a little bit hidden because of the large trees surrounding the bench. It looked like no one has sat here for a while.
Doing what I've always wished to do, I blew off the dirt and dusted it off. I sat down the half-broken bench, staring off into the nearby lake in front of the bench as another group of kids ran around, tagging each other.
I yawned and crossed my legs, leaning back into the bench as I sealed my eyes shut. I slowly inhaled and cleared out my thoughts. At this point, it feels like each problem I've ever encountered is being washed away in just a few seconds.
My heartbeat began pounding and soon, it started slowing down. I exhaled, still keeping my eyes shut.
Despite the amount of noise being caused by a bunch of people walking around the park, everything felt so silent even for just a few seconds.
I breathed in and out once more before slowly opening my eyes, revealing somewhat of a different park. When I entered this park today, it felt so.. normal. Kids playing around, couples having picnics together, some adults walking their dogs around.
It felt so normal that I failed to notice that maybe sitting down, inhaling to slow down my heartbeat can actually change my perspective of this world.
Every noise just felt like it was placed at the very back of my ear and the only thing I can hear are the wind blowing towards the park as it hit me, the birds chirping and maybe a few crickets here and there.
Maybe I could visit this park everyday. And maybe soon enough, my entire life will also change.
Ever since I came here, I knew all my problems would be washed away in just seconds.
