Vera's POV
a room filled with smoke and drunken men, soldiers to be specific.
a typical day i guess, after singing my round i head backstage and was greeted by the manager to entertain people in the tunnels where i worked, he was always an old skeez "next time drape that lovely chest of yours" his bush on his upper lip covered his disgusting smile, i'd rather quit, as my mother said "a women singing in dark alleys filled with morals men and living alone is a slow and sad death" such a cynical but god bless her soul.
i got dressed into my outwear and head down through the tunnels, someone calls out to me from behind "excuses me miss!" i get greeted by the most stunning man i've seen his face looked as if it was carved by god himself, his silk black hair combed to the back perfectly placed and the most breathtaking icy blue eyes i've ever seen with a cigar in his mouth, i've always see him in the crowd while sang leaning on the wall as he stares.
"you dropped your handkerchief" his deep voice made my lips curl for a smile "i don't have a handkerchief" i scoff playing hard to get.
"well do you want to go out and buy one and perhaps go for a dance" he smiles glaring into my eyes while his pupil dilate "wow, very smooth mister.." trying to catch his name
"Thomas, Thomas Shelby" he smirks "oh ok well mister Shelby i'm flattered but i'm not like other women that swoon at th-" he cuts me off and takes my hand
"you aren't like the other women because you didn't ask me first" he smiles making me wrap my arm in his walking together.
a few days late
we got to know each other, we walk and talk while he does his daily night search during the blitz. we walk down the cold streets "so are you going to be in war huh softy" i tease him, he takes out a cigar lighting it "well yes. i am a the captian after all" i grab onto his jacket
"don't die then." i hummed in a low voice, i could feel his heart beat to my hand through his thick clothing.
i quickly pull away and he mocks my comment being extra girl as if in love, i scoff and push him rolling my eyes.
we walks into a large club, people swinging and dancing to the rhythm, a old couple that are attach to each "hopefully that will be us if i live" he leans to the side and whispers it into my ear earning a weak smile, he drags me to the side of the dance floor
i rest my head on his shoulder and smil-
THRID PERSON POV
a bomb hits the centre of the dance floor the whole room is covered in blood while the lights flickered, the old couple latching onto each other, dead...
Vera is still in shook on the floor Thomas picks her up from the floor and drags her out to the street he tries to snap her out of it
she clearly realises that this is only the tip of the ice burg for what tom will go through in France.
she looks up at Tommy and says in a shaky voice "make love to me" he replies with a confused look but nods, she thinks if he does die than she would've lost her chance to be interment with him.
AT VERA'S HOME
they sit on her bed awkwardly until tom looks at her and slowly kisses her, their lips going in to cynic his hands slowly finds its way to he thighs to her underwear slowly sliding them down, he gets up taking his shirt off looking at her with loving eyes not with lust or hunger but with calm and gentle feelings
he stands there for a couple seconds "you're beautiful" he lowers down and strokes her cheek "as long as i live no harm will come to you"
vera blushes and looks to the side "well get on with it" embarrassed to look at him he smirks letting go of her hand and chuckles moving on top of her.
Tom's POV SUPER EXTREME SMUT SCROLL PAST IF YOU WANT TO
i slide her night top off exposing her to the cold air and frown "what is it" she looks up worried
"are you sure you want this..." i look up "yes.. what you think i cant take it" she chuckles giving a million dollar smile and goes on all fours and looks at me through the mirror thats facing the bed and i smile.

a few day back vera introduces tom to her friends, lilly and sam
they were all in sam's house singing and dancing, sam and Lilly are married although tom has his doubts, sam smiles and dances with vera ignoring Lilly but she's doesn't seem to mind.
sam looks over to tom starring at the two with a clenched jaw, sam smirks guiding her hand extremely low to vera's back stealing a kiss from her cheek, Lilly sees this and how tom was about to stand up but she holds his hand that was laying on the table "they've been friends since birth theres no going in between them" tom groans and lays back, Lilly lays her hand to the side with her cigarette with it raising and eyebrow at the both of them than looks over to tom. "you have nothing to worry about, if vera has any common sense she wont leave you for him for god's sakes he's not even going to the bloody war"
at the end flashes go into his head snips of sam holding vera flickering images popping into his mind
flashback/dream ends
a tear slides down tom's cheek, vera who was already starring at him while he slept became worried "tom what wrong why are you crying" he clears his throat"it was just a nightmare" he smiles and looks down at her, her holds her hand tightly "ow tom stop it,sto-p itt your hurting me" she frowns and he pulls her hand to him closer
hey guys so i was really inspired by the movies the edge of love and i thought well i want to put everything i want in a fanfic that basically have none of these things, its kinda weird how love triangles aren't a thing anymore so please comment and tell if you actually this lmao
