Petra's face was flushed. Her expression showed anger and disappointment.

Levi's jaw was clenched. His eyes was glistening in anger and uncertainty.

The mood around them was ugly.

Any idiot can tell they just had one hell of a wicked arguement.

I can confirm that as well. How can I not miss the yells of the two individuals while I was down at the lake.

I handed Petra the wet cloth, paying absolutely no attention to the fact that they just had a fight.

For all I know, it could be a relationship problem. I hear, but I don't eavesdrop into conversations I know I have nothing to do with.

The girl took it with a sigh, and began cleaning Levi's arm.

The mood was still as ugly.

Levi was staring daggers into the soul of Petra, and she didn't like that one bit.

"How's the wound?" I asked, trying to ease the tension with a neutral question.

Petra sighed again. "Just a cut, not too deep. Nothing serious."

"He fainted after the fall. Can you tell if there's any damaged to his head?"

Petra gazed at Levi's head, then at Levi himself, who finally spoke up.

"There's probably a bruise on top of my head," he said quietly, gently touching the position. "It's the only place where it hurts like hell."

I looked at Petra, who was nodding. "Worst case possible is a mild concussion. Nothing too life-endangering. If anything, the only thing it'll effect is his intellectual capacity."

Petra's words were filled with hidden venom. What?

Levi's jaw clenched again as he heard her words, and he looked away.

God, I've never seen Petra this savage.

Even so, the girl was still careful when tending to Levi's cut, gently dabbing the disinfectant, then wrapping his arm neatly with the bandage.

No matter what emotional crisis she was going through, she still remained strong, careful, and accurate in tending her patients.

That was one of the things I respected about Petra.

She's a natural healer.

"Don't go around falling anymore. Who knows you might come back without an eye next time," she warned, glaring at him as she stood up, slipping back inside the tent.

I winced at Petra's harsh words. Physically, she tended to them well. This time, for Levi, she was mentally stabbing him.

I crouched down beside the raven, who was examining his newly, bandaged arm.

"That was.... something."

Levi nodded, still not looking at me.

I was hesitant to ask him this question, but in the end I couldn't help it. "Is there..... anything I should know...?"

There was something going on between two people I know well, and care about.

My best friend and the bitch.

This time, Levi looked up, his eyes meeting mine. His steel blue eyes bore into mine, as if he was searching for something. Examining something.

He blinked his eyes, and tore his gaze away from me. "No, there's nothing of importance."

I narrowed my eyes.

He was searching me.

He hesitated to answer.

He looked away as he answered.

"You're a terrible liar," I muttered under my breath, but I was sure he heard me. "But I won't push it if you don't want to."

I stood up to leave, when a small tug from the edge of my jacket stopped me. I looked back to see Levi retracting his hand.

"I'll tell you. But not now."

"Not now," I echoed, giving him a nod before slipping in the tent.

Petra was sitting on top of her sleeping bag when I came in. She had turned herself into a ball.

"Hey, Petra?"

"Mm?"

The girl looked up, her expression all mixed and jumbled. I pointed to Levi out there. "You two... have been quite out of it, don't you think?"

She shurgged, not answering.

I debatef on asking her this question, but it seems there wasn't any other options left.

"Is it because of the rejection?" I asked at last, nervous to see her reaction.

Petra sighed and her hands through her hair. "Honestly, the rejection did break me a little bit, but that's not why."

I tilted my head, staring at Petra, who stared back.

Once again, just like Levi, she was searching my gaze. Just what is she trying to find?

After a few moments pass by, she shook her head. "It's not the time for you to know yet."

Wtf? Isn't that what Levi said as well??

I narrowed my eyes, making sure nothing can be read from my stare.

Clearly, secrets are everywhere around me. And it's starting to annoy me dearly.

I sat on my own sleeping bag, my head deep in thought.

First, it was Levi and Erwin being suspicious at the club booths during orientation.

Then, Mikasa and Hanji 'said' I dehydrated and started hallucinating whatever happened in Levi's room. Not to mention the weird conversation he and Erwin had.

Now, Levi and Petra are at each other's throats after the failed confession, which I had no idea on what they actually talked about.

Too many secrets give me a headache.

Not to mention my own shit as well. Who the hell keeps on talking to me?

And why the hell does that voice only come out on certain times?

Ilse Langnar's diary, I still have yet to investigate further about Dr. Jaeger, Eren's father.

My parents' murder. The longest ever case I have yet to solve.

Not to mention, the pressure of school overall.

How exactly am I supposed to cope with all of this things? I'm just one being, one human being, against the secrets of the world.

"Get out," Levi ordered from outside, making me look up. "We're packing up and leaving."

Petra reluctantly went out of the tent, followed by me.

Disassembling the tent didn't take that long, since Levi harshly kicked one of the poles and the whole thing just came crashing down.

We packed the remaining things, and headed out quietly.

***

The journey was quiet, and the sun was high in the sky by the time we reached basecamp.

As predicted, it was barren. Everyone was probably still camping out. Me and Petra went back to our room, and we just tossed our bag there.

Petra flopped down on her bed, and I sat down in mine, plugging in the charger for my phone.

Two weeks with minimal phone use is torture. My powerbank died as well, so I had one whole week with no phone.

How torturing is that?

When my phone turned on, I quickly went around and checked everything. Litteraly everyone was posting about the expedition, some weekly, some even daily.

I smiled when I saw a selfie of Eren.

I snorted when I saw his caption.

"This flower is my heart. Who should I give it to?" #RoseLakeExpedition

"Woah is that Eren?" Petra asked from behind, making me flinch in surprise.

"Dang he's hot in this pic," she commented with a giggle.

"Ew."

Petra raised a brow at me. "Don't you think so?"

"Okay, he's pretty dope. But I ain't going out with my brother. No way. I've known him since we were like, 6."

The strawberry-blonde shrugged. "He cute tho."

"Yeah he cute, but my bro."

I turned around, hiding my phone, then taking out my laptop. "We're supposed to be working on the report."

Petra shook her head. "Not before we're having lunch (Y/N), come on."

She dragged my hand and out of the room we went. We reached the kitchen, and that's when she finally let go.

I huffed in annoyance and opened the fridge, searching for something to eat.

"Dang, snacks are finished here. We gotta go get more in the storage room," Petra complained, opening and closing several cupboards.

I peeked into the fridge, sighing in relief as I saw some potential food. "There's enough stuff in here for a sandwich," I said.

"Thank god."

I took out the bread, some salami, tomatoes, lettuce and cheese. "You can cook the salami, half-raw," I told Petra, who took the salami and began cutting it.

*

"Mm, looks delish!" Petra exclaimed, clapping her hands as we sat together on the kitchen table. "You really know how to place your food (Y/N)."

I shrugged. "It's just a normal sandwich Petra."

I picked it up, taking a bite.

Never before has a simple sandwich tasted like heaven to me. The food was pouring with flavors, unlike the shitty military food I've been having for weeks.

Petra and I ate quietly, taking our time, when suddenly, the front door swung open.

I looked at the figure standing by the frame, my eyes widening in surprise as the figure approached us.

I swallowed my food. "Levi? You should learn to knock. What if there's was someone walking around half-naked?"

"Then I'd close my eyes. I came here so we can start writing the rep-- Are you two eating?"

Me and Petra nodded.

"There's still some ingredients at the back if you wanna make your own. I'm not making it for you." I pointed to the kitchen counter, where the bread and a plate of leftover salami Petra had cooked sat.

Levi mumbled on how there was no food at the boys' dorm as he walked past me, and I continued my meal with Petra.

He finished making his sandwich and took a seat next to me on the table. He started eating, his eyes wandering around the room with interest.

The sound of footsteps from the hall made me look up from my food, and before I can warn anyone, Krista walked into the kitchen with sleepy eyes, wearing only a tight tank top and shorts.

She let out a loud gasp as she saw Levi, who was staring wide-eyed in surprise, his mouth slightly opened.

Krista screamed, trying to cover herself while I covered Levi's eyes, accidentally pushing him back in his chair while doing so. "Close your eyes bitch!"

Levi fell back, dragging me along with him as another voice yelled from the back of the hall. "KRISTA! WHAT'S GOING ON THERE?!"
