Brief Recap:

"I was just...I was hoping that...that maybe I could take you out. On a...on a date." He rubbed has hand cross the back of his neck.

"Dean—"

"Don't feel like you have to say yes. I just thought that maybe..." he kept rambling on about reasons you didn't have to go with him. You tuned him out and walked toward him.

He was still rambling when you reached him and nervously splayed your hand across his chest. You prayed that he couldn't hear your shaky breaths. "Quit it," you said softly. "I would love to go on a date."

"Wait," he said abruptly. "Really?"

You shook your head with a smile. "Most definitely."

Your words hung in the air as the two of you focusedon one another. Everything seemed to move in a perfect slow motion as Dean'shead craned down. Both of your eyes closed in anticipation and your heartraced.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Before his full lips had the chance to meet yours, you had to jerk away as a coughing fit took over your body.

If you could talk through the coughing, you would've cursed. Dean left the room as you gripped the chair for support. Being sick already sucked, but it sucked even more at this very moment.

"You gonna make it?" Dean asked, resting his hand on your back and handing you a glass of water.

You nodded your head and gratefully gulped the water to ease the tickle that refused to leave. With a shaky voice you thanked him and continued to clear your throat to rid yourself of the itch.

"Leave it to me to ruin a good moment," you mumbled.

"What's that?"

"Nothing. So this date?" you asked awkwardly. It felt so weird to say. Even though the both of you almost kissed, you were afraid you misunderstood him when he mentioned a date. It seemed way too good to be accurate.

"Are you sure you're feeling up to it?"

Your heart dropped to your stomach. He was trying to get out of it. He must not have really wanted to go out with you. You fumbled over your words, not sure what to say. "I mean, yeah, but we don't—we don't have to, um—"

"Quit it," he smirked, repeating your words. "I still want to, but only if you're feeling good enough to go out." You exhaled all the breath you didn't realize you were holding. "So are you up to."

You smiled wider than you probably ever had before and nodded your head excitedly. "Where were you thinking?"

"Maybe lunch, a movie, and a drive?"

"Can I change?"

His eyes darkened as he looked you over. He seemed to think about his words before he spoke. "If you want to, but you already look perfect."

"I want to." You walked out of the library to your room, trying hard to make sure you walked at a normal pace rather than running. The way his eyes darkened when he looked at you...it filled your entire body with warmth and you wanted him. You were going to make yourself and be sure he wanted the same thing.

You walked into the living space wearing jeans that were much tighter than you were used to as a hunter, a baggy (f/c) shirt with a revealing neckline, and a leather jacket. Your hair was in (your favorite style) It was a simple ensemble, but somehow knew it would be enough to drive Dean crazy.

Dean had a bottle to his lips, ready to take a drink when he glanced at you. He stopped mid bottle tip and lowered it, standing to his feet. "And I thought you looked perfect before." His voice seemed to have dropped and you closed your eyes, trying to shed the thoughts flooding your mind. "Ready to go?"

You nodded, afraid that if you spoke your voice would crack and reveal your desires to Dean. The two of you walked in a nervous silence to the Impala. Conversation with Dean wasn't ever too difficult, but the objective of your conversations now was totally different. This was all supposed to be dating conversation. It felt completely different than before.

"Everything alright sweetheart?" Dean asked once you were on the road.

Your breath hitched in your throat at the name that he often called you. Why did it feel so strange and foreign? Why did you feel like a schoolgirl with a silly crush?

"Yeah." You turned and smiled at him, but he must have sensed your nerves. He reached over and hesitantly rested his hand on your knee.

"Just relax, okay?"

"I'm trying. I just...I don't know Dean. This feels weird."

He laughed a genuine laugh, and you smiled. "Believe me, Y/N...it feels weird for me to."

He pulled the Impala into a diner. It was daytime, so things looked different, but you immediately recognized it as the diner he took you to for late night pie. That seemed so long ago... "I never took you for the sentimental type," you said.

"Eh," he shrugged, unbuckling his seat belt as you followed suit. "I usually keep that side hidden."

You bit your bottom lip hard as you considered whether or not to say your thoughts.

"Y/N," he started. "Don't think I don't know what that face is. What are you thinking about not saying?"

You sighed, hating that he could read you so well. "You should show the sentimental side more often. It's a good look for you."

"For you, I just might."

Your breaths became shaky. "Dean..." You stopped and tried to catch your breath. You suddenly felt like you had been running for miles.

"What is it?" He reached out to you and tucked pieces of your hair behind your ear. It was insane how much the simple touch affected you.

"I—I'm falling for you, and I don't...I don't know if I'll ever be able to come back from this, and I'm scared."

"I'm going to be honest with you..." he paused. "I shouldn't be, but I'm going to. I fell for you a long time ago, and...I want you. I want to take you into the backseat and—"

"Do it." The words shocked you when they came out of your mouth. Since when were you so confident? How did this happen?

Dean's jaw clenched tight and he opened the car door and stepped out. You sat in your seat, wanting to cry at the immense feeling of rejection. You got out and looked across the Impala at the man who just confessed he wanted you, only to reject you seconds later.

"What the hell?" you asked in hurt anger.

He made a noise between a groan and a growl. "Trust me, Y/N, I want to. I want you, but you deserve so much more than a quickie in the backseat of my car. So whaddya say we get into that diner and have some lunch?"

"I'm sorry I got mad," you said feeling ashamed.

Dean walked around the front of the Impala and took your hand in his calloused one. You met his eyes and felt more passion from them than from anything you've ever experienced. "Don't apologize. I did kind of send you mixed signals."

"Well, how about we forget about that and see where this date takes us," you said, knowing full well that you hoped it took you to his room by the end of the night, and you almost hated yourself for being so willing to give yourself to him.

A/N: It took literally all day, stopping for some SPN episodes, but I FINALLY finished. I didn't quite reach my Wednesday goal, but I was close. I'll take it. Hope you guys enjoyed and are as excited as I am to have things getting a tad bit more steamy than they've been ;)
