The three of you sat on the beds, you in Dean's shirt once again because you forgot to buy sleep clothes. After the incident in the shop, Dean drove back to the motel to check you over and make sure nothing happened to you. The boys discussed their findings at the morgue. It all lined up with the research you had done through newspapers and even the old killings from when Eve created them years ago. It wasn't until all of the talk about the Starships was over that the boys picked up a pizza, leaving you to surf on Sam's laptop for entertainment.

You found yourself logging into your fake Facebook account and looking at Becket's page. He seemed to be happy and living a normal life. There were even several pictures of him with a pretty blond girl. Despite not having any real family with him, he seemed to be doing well. It took everything in you not message him, but you haven't talked to him in years... It was safer for him that way.

The thought of him caused you to wonder, Does he ever think of me? Was he ever curious about the only remaining family member that ditched him with someone he didn't know? The thought of Becket knowing you dumped his unconscious form with Fred and ran was enough to strangle you for a moment. He probably hated you, not that you would blame him. You hated yourself for leaving him like that, but explaining things to him without giving him the whole truth would have been too difficult.

When the boys arrived back to the motel, you promptly clicked off of Facebook and back over to a random Youtube video with dogs. After the pizza was gone, you sat silently on the bed next to Dean as Sam and he discussed the case further. Dean seemed to be getting frustrated at the dead ends and unanswered questions. The biggest unanswered thing was why Stephen didn't kill you. He had the opportunity since you were the only one in his shop. There was something the three of you were missing.

"We aren't getting anywhere, Dean," Sam said, standing from his bed. "I'm going to grab a shower and sleep on this."

"Grab me a beer while you're up," Dean replied gruffly.

Sam grabbed the neck of slightly chilled beer from the cooler and tossed it onto the bottom of our bed. Dean mumbled his thanks, opened the beer, and leaned his back against the headboard. His eyes were closed, but that didn't hide his frustration in any way whatsoever. Ways to cheer him up flooded your brain, but you were coming up dry for anything that seemed like it might possibly work, but then you remembered the necklace.

You stood carefully from the bed as to not disturb Dean and rummaged through your plastic bags beside the door. It wasn't long until your fingers grasped the rope and pulled it out.

"Dean," you said timidly. The hunter was a daunting man who highly intimidated you. So far, his opinion on you hasn't been clear. It's more muddled than a shallow creek after a hard rain.

"What's up?" he asked looking over to you.

"When I was out today I found this necklace thing. I-I don't know. It seems silly, but it's for you. You've done so much for me and it's the least I could do for borrowing your card."

"Stolen card," he added with a smirk.

Gaining confidence, you walked back to the bed and climbed beside him once again. The amulet dropped from your hand to his lap and he didn't say anything. Not a single word left his mouth.

"You hate it, don't you?" Your insecurities reminded you of being in high school again. You were filled with the annoying feeling of teenage angst.

"No, it's just...you got this from the Starship?"

"Yes," you mumbled quietly. Your eyes slowly averted to the stained carpet. Dean seemed too taken aback by the amulet. He must have been faking, because his reaction seemed too dramatic for a simple necklace.

"Y/N, I love it. I'll tell you about this amulet once Sam is done."

Dean watched some TV show called Dr. Sexy, M.D. on his laptop and you once again found yourself thinking about how quickly things had changed. It felt like a dream riddled with elements from a nightmare. You finally had the companionship you didn't even know you were missing, but in that companionship was a strained connection with Dean.

Conflicting feelings continued to plague you. Was this really the right choice? Living with these boys was going out on a very long, very flimsy limb. Without knowing much about them, it was hard to know whether or not the three of you would mesh in the long run. Sure, Dean seemed to dislike you now, but maybe that would change with time. Sam seemed pretty easy going. He wasn't the one you were worried about. Your thoughts always circled back to Dean and whether or not he would be willing to tolerate you.

"You seem to sit in your thoughts a lot," Dean noted without breaking his eyes from his show. "That can be a dangerous place to sit." He looked straight into your eyes. "Is everything okay, honestly?"

"Honestly," you reiterated, "I keep wondering if living in the bunker will end up being a mistake."

"Why?" Dean paused his show and gave you all of his attention.

"I don't know the first thing about you guys-"

"My name is Dean Winchester. The guy in the shower, that's my baby brother Sam. We would do anything for each other, even if sometimes we act like we hate each other. It's been my job to keep him safe since he was a baby and I would rather die before I fail that job."

"Why are telling me all of this?"

"Trying to let you know about us," Dean answered.

"But why? You don't strike me to be the open type."

"Eh, maybe it's the beer." He smirked and resumed Dr. Sexy.

Thankfully it wasn't long until Sam exited the bathroom and lounged on his bed.

"Sammy, look at what Y/N got me." Dean tossed the amulet to Sam without warning and, much to your surprise, Sam caught it like it was second nature.

"Is this-"

"The amulet, yeah."

Dean proceeded to tell you the importance of the amulet. He said that it was a Christmas gift from Sam years ago. Though he didn't say how much it meant to him, he didn't have to. His eyes said everything that his mouth never would.

After an argument, Dean was frustrated and tossed it into a waste bin in a motel, and that was the end of it. He also mentioned that it had some sort of power, but he didn't expound upon it. Dean said he'd tell you when it was important, and that was something you were more than okay with.

"Can I ask what happened to your family?" You asked, quickly covering your mouth as the question surprised you. Typically, hunters didn't talk about dead family because it was always too painful to relive the memories of the monsters that took the family out.

"Nope, no chick flick moments," Dean answered, taking a long swig from his beer.

"Dude, really?" Sam asked, with a small smirk on his face.
