Chapter 31
I actually couldn't believe he wants Death to take me, his mate, Just to come and take me. Must he really think that low of me tp just throw me away like trash?
The question though is why he wants him to take me
I gave him a cold, stern look and he seemed confident about what he said to me. Does he feel no sort of remorse for me?
"Hear me out" he stated waking me from the nightmare he now caused me
"What could you possibly say to keep me from believing the worst" I raised my voice
"You need to let me finish before jumping to conclusions" he rolled up his sleeves and motioned for me to come over
Getting up he patted his lap and I huffed and sat in front of him on the desk. Shuffling back I moved a few stacks of papers, probably pack business and looked at Jay
"I need him to get you at his most vulnerable so I can kill him"
"How does that even work, Death is already dead" I said unsuringly "Isn't he?"
He nodded once and reached out to be, I held a breath when he touched my thigh but he opened the draw beside me and pulled out a knife
"This should kill him" he grinned showing me the knife
"Is it some kind of special knife?" hesistantly asking, moving closer to Jay
"No, just an ordinary knife" he frowned sitting back in his chair
"What is that supposed to do?"
I stated at him disbelievingly, how is a normal knife suppose to kill someone already dead. Am I supposed to put the pieces together and know some sort of riddle, because if I am this is not really working to his advantage
"There's a catch" he looked afraid and sad
"Which is? I'd give anything to have him killed" and I would
I just want a life with Jay for once, no Ashley drama, Death, jealousy. Just love for him
"Do you remember how I said you need to reach your full potential?"
I nodded
"Once you have, Death will be able to find you easily and then he'd begin the process and taking the energy from you. Taking your powers and to put it bluntly your soul" he whispered softly at the end moving forward to comfort me
"My soul?" I croaked
"Yes but I'll be there to protect you trust me" he whispered cupping my face
"During that process, his body becomes weak and human. I'll be able to stab and kill him, finally ending his path of destruction"
I gasped, Death will be able to turn human when he's taking my life? I felt the blood drain from my face when I realized that I'd have to sacrifice my life to spare the lives of others. Even when it meant losing Jay
Looking at him, I couldn't think about not having a life with him. We've only found each other recently but we've known each other our whole lives, since we were little. I tried smiling at the memory but couldn't find myself to do it.
Maybe my happiness is embeded into Jay, he keeps me smiling most of the time but the times we're not he's protecting me for my own good. I really had no idea what my life would have been without Jay, without the concept of accepting I'm somewhat special. I've come a long way since I saw myself as a mistake, someone no one could ever love and Jay was the person to second guess me
This whole time I was searching for sanctuary, happiness and all I need to find that is within Jay, he's what makes me happy. If it means ending my life to the safety of Riley, Chase, my parents, Aiden, my pack and Jay especially Jay I'd die a happy person
"So all I need is to master all my abilities?" I asked with a new found confidence
"Yes, but I'll never let him take you, I promise nothing will ever harm you" he smiled cupping my face
My eyes fluttered close and I breathed out a cool breath, when our foreheads connected a rush of warmth spread through me and I relaxed at his touch
"Where do I learn to control and enhance my powers?"
"I can show you some things but alot of it will come naturally, hopefully and if not we have plenty of time to learn" he said inching away slowly
"Can I ask you one thing?"
He nodded
"Why are you killing him? Doesn't everyone want him dead?" I questioned
I never really clicked but there a only of handful of people who know about Death, and even then none of them had stepped forward to say they want him dead. If he was going to enslave the world's population shouldn't they want him dead
"It's complicated" he sighed sitting up from his chair
"How much more complicated are things get?" I said fustrated "Everytime I seem to get reassurance something else is involved"
"I really can't tell you baby, believe me I would but I can't" he said standing next to me, his chest brushing my right arm "I'd do anything to tell you but I can't" his voice broke at the end
I looked at him with a blurred vision, just barely seeing him through my eyelashes
"What happened to no more secrets" my voice broke off
He sighed and reached out to touch me but I flinched away, running a hand through his hair he let out a fustrated yell and stomped around the room
"Bloody hell Abby! Just trust me on this, I can't tell you because I'm bound into secrecy!" he yelled getting angry
Bound?
Like what he told me when I was chained like an animal, when I though he was leaving me. All I wanted was to comfort him but I can't handle the secrets, the lies. I've live my whole life with emotional and physical pain and I don't want that anymore. This one secret is what ties everything else together and he knows it
"Tell me" I pleaded walking over to him
"Tell me please, so I can understand" I begged
He stopped and looked at me doubtfully before a look of hope clouded those eyes, those dazzling eyes
"Not yet, when the time is right" he said softly
I nodded once knowing I wouldn't get anything else from him, I'd have to wait. I walked over to him and hugged him tightly, my arms wrapping around his broad figure from behind
My hands wandered over his chest and curled over his shoulders, letting my face bury itself on his back Jay let himself relax and let out a shaky breath
If I had to wait a bit longer so be it, if it means the end of my life to save Jay's, I'd do it in a heartbeat. I've known him long enough to see that he would do the same but this is no fairytale. It's not some prince charming coming to save me because I'm the only one who can save myself the the lives of others
Not so long ago I'd wished I'd never been born into this life, this world but everybody has their purpose, their reason for living and this is mine. I sad smile curved it's way to my lips and I detatched myself from Jay
"It's time you rest"
Jay took my hand in his and lead me to our room, sliding the lock he stepped in and pulled me with him. Hesitating he opened the bathroom door and turned the taps to the bath on. He came back out and walked with me to the bathroom
"Let's get you cleaned up" he smiled warmly
I nodded biting my lip, I thought he was going to leave or something but he held a soft, carefree look in his eyes
"I won't try anything, Promise"
He took his shirt off slowly, one button at a time and then stepped towards me, I held a breath when his chest brushed against mine and he lifted my shirt off, throwing it to the floor with his. I stepped back and then began to hook his fingers to the top of my pants, pulling them down
I had an intake of breath when he stood back up looking me over, his tall frame towering over mine. He hesitantly moved his hands behind my back and unclapsed my bra, the material falling to the floor. The steam that now settled itself in the room made me wary of the position we were in. He reached over and turned the taps off the water a bit warmer than intended and the bubbles setting just a few centimeters from the the top of the marble bathtub
Jay slowly grabbed my waist and latched onto the material at my hips, sliding them off the thin material landed at my feet and I stepped out of them hiding my now reddend face
"Nothing, I swear" Jay promised stepping away from me
He pulled his pants down and threw them away but my eyes never left his, he didn't look at my body just my eyes. I saw a promise in them that had my heart soaring. Slowly he pulled his underwear off and came to settle himself in front of me
He skillfully picked me up without touching anything and I looked up at him shyly, I felt his muscles flex when he stepped into the bathtub. Slowly bending down my body hit the water and I instantly let my mind drift away. The soothing temperature of the water and the heat radiating from Jay made my body heat up but this wasn't anything leading to sex, as sensual as it was
Jay sat back with his back against the edge of the bath while I sat between his legs, I lathered in the cool water and played with the bubbles, I heard the sound of a bottle but before I could ask anything Jay's fingers were massaging my scalp, letting the shampoo wander through my hair. His hands were skillful and I leaned back enjoying every moment of this
"Just relax" he said soothing me
He finished washing my hair and let the smell of vanilla linger in the steamy air, I heard another faint sound of a cap opening when his hands travelled down my chest, washing my body, every place he touched left a burning need on my skin but because he was so gentle, it felt nice
He brushed passed my neck and picked up the body wash squeezing it's comtents on my chest, Jay rubbed the cream colured liqiid all over me, lingering on my legs
"I think you're done" he whispered kissing my neck
"Hmmm" I nodded
I was about to sit up when Jay beat me to it, he scooped me up in hus arms carrying me bridal style, he put me down on the towel on the floor and got another one wrapping it around my body. He did the same and wrapped one around his waist. Standing behind me he got one last towel and began to dry my hair
"You really don't need to do this" I murmered
"Yes, I really do" he whispered letting my hair fall back and cascade down my back
He reached out and brushed my hair to one side of me and let his finger tips brush past his mark, a small smile made it's way to my face and I turned around to face him, wrapping my arms around his neck
"When did I get so lucky" I smiled
"As much as I'd like to say I know why I don't, It's more of how I got so lucky" he said craning his neck to see me
"One day you'll realize how much I love you more than you love me" I said kissing his cheek
He laughed and picked me up carrying me to the bed, still laughing he went over to the drawers and pulled out one of his shirts throwing it at me. I caught it swiftly and smiled at him, putting it on I let my towel drop and started to button up the shirt, inhaling his caramel scent I fell back to the bed to see Jay drop his towel. His little butt on display for me to gape at
He got out a pair of boxers and slid them on then proceeded to pull out some underwear of mine. Walking over to me, he grinned and pulled me down so I was lying on my back. He slid the material up my legs slowly pressing hard enough for me to squirm under him
"Perfect" he whispered kissing my legs
He pulled me next to him and I sat comfortably next to him, my hands resting on his chest. He wrapped his arm around my waist pulling me up flush against him.
I tangled my legs through his, he lay perfectly on his back while my chest sat against the side of him
"Thank you for just before" I yawned kissing his chest
"Anything for you"
Another strangled yawn escaped me and Jay chuckled, pulling the blankets over us
"We'll begin training tomorrow, no more school until I'm sure you're safe" Jay said kissing my head
"Hmmm, goodnight Jay" I smiled closing my eyes
"Sweetdreams Abby" he cooed

I woke feeling better than I have in months, I felt a new sort of energy pulse through me as if I could run for hours and not lose a bead of sweat. Feeling good I sprung out of bed and landed on my feet, stretching I heard a thump on the other side of the bed and when I turned around a groaning Jay was getting up
"What's up with you?" he said groaning
"I don't know I feel like I have all this energy in me" I said happily and dashed to the drawers
"Let's head straight to it then" Jay chorused
"Let me get dressed" I smiled back
I quickly changed into some workout gear which consisted of a sports bra and bike shorts. I headed downstairs when Jay pulled at my arm stopping me
"You are not going downstairs dressed like that" he said disapprovingly
"Well pass me a jersey so we can go" I rolled my eyes
He tossed me his sweater with all sort of designs on it, well just a variety of horizontal lines. It will have to do, I put it on and it passed just under my butt, comfy I should take his clothes more often
"Great, let's go!" I clapped running out the door
"Abby, Wait!" Jay called
I ignored him and ran downstairs into the kitchen where his secret training room was hidden. I stopped in my tracks when I smelled the air, hmmm bacon and eggs. I stalked over to the stove where Chase was cooking with a couple others from the pack
Wanting to be sneaky and because I feel like a little kid, I got down on my hands and knee's crouching to the end of the island bench
"Bro can you believe that chick last night?" a pack member wolf whistled
"She's way out of your league man" Chase's laughter and someone else's filled the air
"Shut up" the other pack member whined
Chase's feet scattered over to the cupboards where he started rummaging through them for something, I made my way to the side of the island bench tucking myself under the overhang of tge top of the bench, when a new set of footsteps approached the kitchen
Filled with laughter, my body began to buzz with a new high, and I closed my eyes imaginning to be invisible, cause I'm going to get caught
"Alpha" a pack member said
"No need to be formal, I'm just here to collect my mate" a teasing Jay said
I giggled when I felt everyone froze, I begged to be hidden, invisible even. I felt an all time high when I saw four sets of footsteps in front of me
"Are you sure she's here" Chase asked suspiciously
"I can smell her" Jay responded questionably
He sniffed the air as well as the rest of the boys, I'm standing right here? how can they not see me.
Oh god, they're trying to be funny
"Very funny I know you can see me" I stood up and put my hands up
They all screamed and jumped back in surprise, there faces were priceless. I laughed even when they all had murderous, scared faces plastered on them
"Where are you?" Chase said in mock fear
"Right in front of you" I said in between breaths
"No you're not-" he began
"Aaaah!" I screeched "You poked my eye!" I whined
"Holy hell" he gasped
He looked at Jay questionally when Jay smiled and stood back against the wall, his arm muscles flexing
"She's found a new ability, this is new" he laughed
"So you really can't see me?" doubtfully asking him
"No" he smiled
"Prove it?" it came out a question
"How can I, you're the invisible one"
Touche, how can I get him to prove he can't see me. I have one idea that will freak him out
"Ok I know how I can prove it" I grinned
"How?" he raised an eyebrow
"What piece of clothing did I take off?"
"What!" he growled "No one look anywhere, close your eyes!" he all but growled
I couldn't hold it in I started laughing and fell to the floor in a fit of laughter, Jay panicked and started looking for me. I felt my body come off from feeling like a cloud to the weight of gravity pulling me down. I looked uo and an angry Jay stood over me
"That's not funny" he growled
"It was hilarious" I laughed
He helped me up and let Chase and the two others open their eyes, he held me protectively by the waist
"Not cool Abby" Chase grinned shaking his head
"Good one Luna" one of the two with brown hair said
"Shut up idiot" the blonde said slapping his head
These must be the twins, they look nothing alike. While one had brown hair and eyes, the other had blonde hair and the same coloured eyes. Other than that their frame, facial structures and posture was almost picture perfect
"Where were you two off too?" Chase said smiling a genuine smile
"Training" I laughed when Jay pushed me out the door
"Well have fun" Chase yelled after us
"Will do" I called back
Jay was seemingly quiet after that little incident but my mood never fazed, somehow it grew. Following after Jay he was hard to keep up with but the spring in my steps had me chasing him like a dog chasing it's tail
What is wrong with me today? I just laughed it off when Jay stopped and took his shirt off, his muscles on full display
"Time to begin" he grinned
"Sure thing" I smiled back wickedly and threw his sweatshirt off
"We'll do attack, a bit of fitness then see what abilities you've gained" Jay's alpha voice was rarely used on me but when it did I gladly followed
We circled each other until he made the first move and jumped at me reaching for my neck. I barely missed him as I felt his fingers graze my skin and I turned sharply at my new hype and lunged at him, catching his arms and pinning them behind his back. I smiled but that soon faded when he purposely fell backwards and landed on me, I groaned and he pinned me to the forest floor
He grinned at his victory when I used that as an advantage, flipping us over I got up and paced back, ready for another attack when all I wanted was to show him how much damage I could do
His chest rose and fell with every step and I smirked realizing I hadn't even lost a breath. I ran to him full speed, quicker than I anticipated and we fell to the ground with a 'thud' he groaned and quickly pushed me off and I landed on my back a stone pressing into my back.
As least he's not taking it easy on me... I think. I sat up and Jay was already on his feet bouncing from side to side
"You're stronger, that's good" he smiled "Now we just need to increase that stamina, as much energy you have now you won't always get days like this"
He walked to the edge of the forest, where a clearing surrounded by lavish green bushes, flowers and pine trees enclosed the area. He walked to the centre and I followed in pursuit, he told me to run circles so I did. I started to get dizzy and slowed down when the real nightmare began
He told me to do fitness, precisely....
a hundred press ups, double that of star jumps, fifty squats, fifty burpees, then run for five minutes then finally climbing a tree. I gaped at him but he only looked at me seriously motioning me to hurry up
A good two hours passed until he finally let me stop, after the first round I started to run out of breath and by the second I was sweating like a pig, but by the third round I was ready to give up and die. My bones and muscles couldn't take anymore but Jay made me do a full five more round before he just made me run again
"Is this why you bathed me last night? so you could torture me today" I said breathless
"Of course not" he said in mock shock grinning
"You really suck" I panted falling onto the grass
The sky turned twilight, I hadn't realized how long we'd spent out in the woods, especially out here training. Jay sat next to me his head resting on my stomach, his hair fell on my naked skin and I shifted at the softness of it. Running my hands through his hair his breathing slowed and he moved so that he was staring at me
I just really want to know how he can handle me, it's like he possesses the same strength and he knows how to control it. Something about his physical wellbeing puts me on edge but I brush it off everytime
"Are you alright?" he asked kissing my exposed stomach
"Sure" I smiled
"You took hesitating breaths" he questioned
"So?" I said sitting up
"You think hard when you do that" he sighed getting up to sit next to me "Where you thinking about what I told you earlier?"
I nodded, he might as well know. No point keeping anything from him, I need him to trust me even though he already does
"You know in time" he got up and held a hand out for me. I took it gladly and he lifted me effortlessly
"I want to know now" I huffed
"You know I can't" he sighed running a hand through his hair
"Just tell me, If you want to help me tell me" I whispered looking at him pleadingly
I can't wait, I need to know. What if something happens involving it and I don't know what to do about it
"I am helping" he said fustrated
"Who, who are you helping because it's not helping me" my voice rose
"Me! it's helping me protect you!" he yelled storming off
I ran after him and grabbed his arm pulling him back
"How is this protecting me!" I yelled, angry at his stubborn attitude
"If Death finds out, he'll be harder to kill!" he fumed, his alpha voice coming to play
"How! how is that remotely possible" I screeched
"Because I'm the only one who can kill him!" He stood back and let out a breath "I'm the only one left, they all died" he said above a whisper
"Who's they" I asked softly
Jay must have realized his mistake and he stumbled back "Forget I said anything" he said saddened
"Wait! Jay tell me" I called running after him
He stopped once I reached him and he looked at me doubtfully, he grabbed my hand and led me through the forest, he walked hastily and we reached the back of the pack house
"This is the safest place to tell you" he said monotone
I sat on a swingset and Jay stood behind me, gripping the chains
"A long time ago, an organization you could call it built it's way up from werewolves like ours, but some wanted to protect our kind from any danger and they formed a small group" he began while I just sat and listened "Soon after it was created by two men, Stephen and Haven who recuited only the strongest from the whole population which was started here from our pack, soon learning of the powers our kind can possess, the elder of the two men grew power hungry and found a way to communicate with the moon goddess" he started to push me softly
"Anyway, he took her abilities and he carried them in himself. That's why you hold so much power he took it from the moon goddess and his heir carry the gene which only get stronger so the organization had no choice but to kick him out" he breathed out "You are the heir of him Abby and you hold so much power, he used it as a weapon which is where Death comes to place. He summoned him without realizing his mistake and soon realized that this was something he could not do himself"
He pushed a little harder but I made no comment
"He begged and pleaded for their help and forgiveness but no one felt any sympathy or remorse for him that is until Stephen the other man decided to intervine. He found a way to the moon goddess and asked for her help but the only option was his death and then would she help, but only death by his hands. Stephen had to kill Haven"
He stopped pushing and looked at me "Once Stephen killed Haven the moon goddess said she'd be reborn into her physical state in 200 years time, and her promise was that there would always be someone to take her power from Haven's heir so she would be strong enough to put Death back from the world he came from" Jay was almost silent as he spoke
"Abby its been 300 years since that deal was made and I'm the only person left from Stephen and Haven's organization, I was picked 70 years ago" he shut his eyes tightly "The moon goddess has been missing for 100 years and I don't know what to do, the only reason I have a clue now is because this was always plan B if the moon goddess never came to seal what she had said" his eyes opened revealing a angry, scared alpha
"I'm the only one left and you are the heir of the monster who brought darkness to this world but for the life of me I cannot seem to find an ounce of that in you, the moon goddess somewhere is helping but I don't know how. If I die there's no one else who can save this world but I need you to help me" he said pleading almost as if he was scared to leave me here alone
"I need you to trust my judgement, I've been alive for years and that's a blessing our organization possesses but your curse is that you die after your power is taken from you" he choked "You only live for one purpose and that is to carry her power, gifts but there is something different about you from the others"
I stood up and closed him in a hug, I really needed comfort after all this
"We'll figure out where the moon goddess is Abby and when we do this will all be over. Once and for all"

So here it is, the chapter that hopefully put all the pieces together :)
I just wanted to put in something about Jay's past but I'll get into the small details later, like tha name of the organization and things like that
