"No, she'll be fine-"

Fuzzy images and words filled my head as I tried focusing on the world around me.

"I need-" I began talking but could only let out a small groan.

I need to get up.

Suddenly, it all snapped. The floor came flying toward my face and in an instant, I felt everything.

A soft breeze on my body, the coldness of the ground beneath me and a weird presence in my right arm.

As I sat up, a sharp pain pumped in my head.

A window... A light...

I didn't know much what was going on, but I knew for certain I wasn't where I started my day.

I clumsily stumbled to my feet as soon as I heard rattling from behind me. Unfortunately, I lost my footing and fell onto a soft surface.

A bed?

"Are you alright?"

My vision fogged as soon as I fell, followed by a high pitched noise drowning out the sound of whoever was speaking.

"Y/n!"

I could finally feel it. I was slipping back into reality. I could feel the person's hands on my shoulders, supportively holding me, I could feel the cool air on my weirdly exposed skin. I could smell the soft scent of gunpowder from the distance and could see everything clearly.

Dull walls, a white bed, a doctor and an open window.

"Sir," I urged while trying to stand up again. "I need to be somewhere-"

"Please, y/n," he insisted while guiding me back into my bed. "You could've hurt yourself."

A gust of wind blew through the window beside us, causing the curtains next to it to flutter violently.

"Whatever I'm here for can't be too bad," I mumbled. "It's my last day, you have to understand, sir."

My doctor looked down at me with a concerned expression.

"You think I'm crazy," I muttered. "Look, I have an important date with-" I impatiently glanced down at the floor then back to the doctor in front of me "-my boyfriend."

"You don't remember what happened?" he asked while pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose.

I shook my head in response.

"Your boyfriend said you were 'roofied'," the doctor explained.

"Jimin's here?" I asked, shooting up in bed. Something in the corner of my eye was brought to my attention as soon as I sat up. I gasped with a mix of disgust and confusion at a small needle that had been placed in my arm. A tube which was attached to it ran over my head and connected to something behind me.

"I don't know if-"

"What's the time?" I rushed, cutting him off.

Maybe this can still work.

"It's somewhere near a quarter to 12," he guessed.

"Twelve?" I asked while searching around my room.

"You'll be able to see the fireworks from up here if that's what you're worried about," the doctor assured.

"It's okay," I muttered. "I don't care about the fireworks."

"Do whatever you please, y/n," the doctor sighed.

"Jimin's still here, right?" I asked while sliding my legs out of bed.

"I think so," the doctor stated reluctantly. "It'd be better if you stayed in bed, though."

"Sir," I began with a straight face. "I really, really need to see him."

"And you will," the doctor assured. "Tomorrow."

I stared up at him silently.

"Have a good night, y/n."

The man walked outside of my hospital room, making sure to turn the light off after him.

It's over. The deal will end in a few minutes.

I turned on my side to look out my window at the festival below. Lights danced around the small area, eventually fuzzing and irradiating up. Quickly, I wiped my eyes, clearing my vision.

I shouldn't be crying over a simple deal...

A loud rumble echoed throughout the valley below.

It's starting.

A gold firework exploded into a large willow shape, followed by multiple purple strobes illuminating its path.

After a couple of seconds, I'd need to wipe away my tears to stop fogging up my vision.

Why am I such a mess?

Suddenly, I jumped at a tapping sound on my door. As quickly as possible, I threw my body around to face it. Jimin's face was pressed up against the small glass window in my door.

I couldn't help but smile at the bright grin he was showing.

Quickly, I tiptoed out of my bed over to my door, only to be limited in the area I could walk in. I stared down at the tube in my arm, which was connected to a few medical things with a look of hatred. I gave Jimin a pained expression while lifting my foot up to the door.

Maybe I can just...

I fell to the door with a thud, but couldn't help but to laugh. I seemed to be successful in opening the door for Jimin as he swooped in soon after. Swiftly, he cradled my body and pulled me over to my bed.

"I thought I was going to miss it," Jimin whispered.

"Miss what?" I asked while looking up at him.

He gestured through the window at the fireworks with a small smile.

"I had to keep avoiding staff so I took a little while," Jimin explained as we watched fireworks explode into balls of colour.

"You had to sneak up here?" I asked.

"They wouldn't let me visit you so I had no choice," Jimin huffed.

Silver lights fizzled into bright sprinkles across the sky.

"I'm glad you came," I stated after a few seconds of silence. "But so far, you're still losing the bet."

Jimin glanced over at the fireworks then back at me.

"I still have a bit of time," he assured.

"For?"

"My winner's speech," Jimin announced proudly.

"Oh my god..." I chuckled with my head in my hands.

"Y/n!" Jimin began while taking my hands in his. "I know this all started with me being bad at commitment and such."

I glanced between him and the fireworks, insinuating he should hurry up.

"I know, I know," Jimin muttered. "I just want to say."

A red firework surrounded by purple sparklers exploded, fading to a light pink.

"I'm scared of a lot of things that I don't want to admit," Jimin spoke quickly as I nodded along. "But," he continued. "I'm not scared of admitting that I don't want to die without you by my side."

A purple star-shaped firework lit up the sky, brighter and bigger than the rest, fading to silver.

"In fact," Jimin rushed. "I'm scared of what my life would be without you."

Another exploded, amplifying in size, fading to a light green.

"Y/n," Jimin whispered as he leaned toward me.

Multiple smaller firecrackers exploded, fading into a bright purple.

"I love you."

This was it, the last firework. Brighter and larger than the rest, never seeming to fade.

Jimin's lips met mine as he held me tighter than ever. Everything I ever wanted. Everything I ever needed was all there, bundled up in a single beautiful moment. Our hearts synced with the last explosions of light and colour.

I love you too, Jimin.

Our final hour ended, not fading to black, but to gold.
