i lay on the bed next to david. i found out i was diagnosed with cancer 5 months ago. it was the worst thing i've ever heard.
i whimper quietly, almost starting to cry. david must have heard me because he pulled me closer and squeezed me tighter than ever before. it was my time to go. i could feel it. my body was getting weaker by the second.
i wrapped my arms around david's torso and pressing my face against his chest. i could smell his cologne. i was sad i had to let this go. i started to cry. "don't cry baby" david said quietly. "i just don't want to go. i won't get to be with you". i could hear david's heartbeat through his chest. i realized it would be the last time i heard it. the last time i got to lay with the man i love.
i looked up at david's handsome face. he looked down at me with a sad look on his face. "i love you" i said, still crying. "i love you too" david said. and that was the last time i heard him say i love you.
