*Zane's POV*
We finally make it to the park and we find a bench. "It's so nice out today." I say looking up at the clouds. "Yeah it is." Travis says.
I notice he is looking at me. I look at him, "What is it?" I ask. "Why do you wear your mask?" Tracks ask.
To hide all emotion from everyone
"Oh! Um..." I wasn't sure what to tell him I rather not tell him the real reason, that might lead to more questions and that'll lead to my past and-
"It's fine if you don't want to answer, I'm just wondering." Travis says interrupting my thoughts.
I look around, enjoying the view when I see him. I flash of fear flashes over me. I start panicking.
Did he see you? We need to get out of here! You can't deal with him after everything!
I stand up. "H-How about we g-go on a walk?" I ask Travis. He nods and we start to walk out of the park. I keep glancing over at him to make sure he doesn't see us. At the last moment he saw us and started to walk over. I felt now terrified.
"Hey Zane!" A voice says from behind us. I stop and turn around to see him standing in front of me. "H-Hey." I say.
I want to run but then I'll be leaving Travis with this jerk.
"It's been a long time. Hasn't it?" He says. "Y-Yeah. I-It has." I say.
Remember show no emotion to him.
"Who's your friend?" He asks. I look over at Travis, who can see right through my mask. "I'm Travis. And who are you?" Travis asks.
"Oh I'm Gene."
The name echo in my head. When I thought I was forgetting him, he comes back into my life in some way! I just want him gone!
"Well it's been nice meeting you Gene, but I think it's time for Zane and I to get going." Travis says. He turns and and walks away I follow him, leaving him all alone.
After we get a bit from the park, Travis asks "Was Gene your friend?"
He was worst than that
I stop in my tracks. Travis does the same, "N-No. He was my......boyfriend." I say after a second. I look over at Travis. He looks surprised. I can feel tears in my eye, remembering back on when we dated.
Dumb. Friendless. Alone. Ugly.
I started feel tears fall down my face. I start to run back home. I know Travis must be following me. When I reach my front steps I feel a pull. I look to see Travis grabbing me by the arm with a concerned face.
"Zane. What happen?" Travis asks. I feel more tears falling down my face. He sits on a step and I join him.
"W-When we were dating. G-Gene, he...." I put my hands in my face full out crying. I feel arms rap around me.
"Its alright, breath." Travis says in a calming voice. He let's go and I look up at him. I take a deep breath and say "Gene a-abuse me...."
Instantly Travis brought me into another hug. I could feel more tears in my eye but I pushed them back. I started to hug Travis back. We stayed that was for a while. Soon Travis let go and I did too.
"I get how that is, I've been abused before too... so I can get where your coming from." Travis says putting on a fake smile. "Have you told anyone about that?" Travis asks me.
I shake my head. I was to weak to tell anyone. "Gene would threatened me, that if I told anyone he would beat me." I say looking down.
"Well he can't hurt you any more!" Travis says "He doesn't know where you live and you also have friends who can stand up for you and help you if he tries anything." I look up to see him smiling.
His words as so touching. Ugh why does he have to be so nice?!
"Now how about we go get some cupcakes?" Travis ask. I nod and we start to head to the store.
