Elena's POV
Me and June stuck back into the school trying not to get caught.
Eric was nowhere in sight so we were safe for the time being anyways.
"So, what are you doing tonight?" June asked me as we walked past the auditorium
I shrugged "Nothing I don't think. Mom may have other plans for me though"
"Oh, well if you're stuck babysitting we could just do homework." She said
"Okay, what time do you wanna come over?" I asked looking at the clock having a mental countdown going. Five minutes to lunch.
"Err…"She thought about it before finishing "sixish?"
"Alright sounds good, I should be home by then. I'm taking Gabby to get her car."
She nodded and stopped in front of her locker I leaned against the one next to it
What was wrong with Gabby? She seemed sad when I picked her up.
Had something happened before I had picked her up? Or last night maybe? Crap. This is going to bug me all day.
The bell ringing pulled me back from my thoughts as the halls filled with students I watched as they walked and some ran by looking for Gabriella.
I looked at June who was fixing her eyeliner for the tenth time.
"You need to get a different brand, June." She closed her locker and looked at me
"No shit." She half laughed "let's go, I'm starving" she said grabbing my hand and pulling me into the mob of people.
As we walked in I saw Gabriella with Mary.
"I'm getting food, feel free to sit with Gabriella today." June said before heading off to the lunch line.
I sighed as Mary walked off leaving Gabriella by herself
I walked up behind her and slipped my arms around her waist hugging her from behind I kissed her cheek as she grabbed my hands "Hello there" she said sounding surprised
"Hey" I said turning her around so she was facing me and kissed her softly. She turned bright red.
"So where are we sitting?" she asked smiling. I love that smile.
I looked back at June who was getting tacos. "Where you sit" I smiled back and walked toward t he table where Mary and I'm guessing her boyfriend where sitting.
Mary smiled at Gabriella as we sat down.
"Elena, this is Alex, Mary's boyfriend. Alex this is Elena, my girlfriend" his eyes got wide for all of a second "You're a lesbian?" he asked eyeing her. I thought she was bisexual.
" Y-yeah." Mary gave him a 'really you had to say THAT' kind of look. Made me want to giggle reminded me of dad when I'd say something at a family get-together. I grabbed Gabriella's hand and squeezed it
"That's super cool" he said smiling. Mary slapped him not hard but hard enough he felt it
I couldn't help but laugh. Gabriella did too.
"Don't scare my best friend like that." she growled at him
He eyed her. "It's what I do best!" he looked over at Gabriella and she looked down
Marisa sat down at the opposite side o f the table from me & Gabriella
"What did you do now Alex? Can't you leave the poor girl alone? Especially today" She smiled at Gabriella
Alex smiled at Marisa "Nothing, just playing around. What's so special about today?"
He looked at Gabriella also. What was today?
"You're an ass sometimes." She said not looking at him
"Let's g o get some food" Gabriella got up and I followed her to the lunch line grabbing us a tray
"Does he do that a lot?" I asked her
"Sometimes" She said looking at me "Its fine, I'm fine." She said smiling halfhearted
She looked anything but fine. And that smile proves it.
"Are you sure your fine?" I asked her
"I'll be fine." She said
I didn't believe her. I wanted to ask but something told me it was better for her to tell me on her own.
We walked into biology together, the teacher still wasn't here. Surprised? No.
She kissed me and went to her seat; I sat on her desk waiting for the teacher to show up.
I looked out the window it had started raining, joy. The teacher walked in I frowned and kissed Gabriella and walked over to my normal seat in the back with June.
"You look dead tired June" I whispered to her
She shrugged "so do you" she said
"Little sleep and not enough coffee can do that to you" she nodded in agreement
Gabriella looked back at me and smiled, I smiled back at her.
Mrs. Benton wrote the assignment on the on the bored.
"Get to work. And no talking." She said with a hint of venom in her voice, she sat down at her desk
"What crawled up her ass and died." Whispered June not looking up from her biology book
"Very good question" I whispered starting to do the assignment for the day.
After Bio I ran up to Gabriella and slipped my hand into hers. She squeezed my hand and I squeezed hers back. "I'll walk you babe" I said
"As long as you want too" She smiled
"Of course I do. Why wouldn't I?" I looked ahead down the hall
"You'll be late" she looked at me
"So? I'd rather walk you to class."
"Eric might stop you" she said looking a little worried as we stopped outside of her class
"Trust me, he won't say a word to me" I smiled
"Okay"
"Wait here after class, I'll come get you." I kissed her hard which I hadn't expected to do and walked off meeting up with June and headed to gym.
"Do we really have to go to gym today?" she asked groaning
"Yes, if we skip anymore we'll end up getting caught." I sighed I hated gym as much as she did the coach was a perv and a compete jerk.
"Alright ladies, Hit the showers!" Coach Essex said blowing his whistle
"What I'd give to shove that whistle..."June cut herself off when she saw Coach Essex walking toward us. "You are so fucked" I whispered to her and quickly turned and headed to the locker room. I wasn't sticking around if he had heard her, she was like a sister to me but no bond would make me stick around for his wrath.
After I had showed and started to change June came in "I HATEEE you" she grumbled at me
"You love me" I said with a slight giggle. "What did he make you do?" I asked putting my makeup back on
"Made me run a few laps and help clean up, then he dragged me to his child size shoebox of an office for a talk about respecting your elders." She said rolling her eyes
"How many times has he given you this talk?" I asked looking at her as she opened her locker
"Five or more, I never listen." She laughed getting her shower stuff and walking towards the showers
"June, June, June. What am I going to do with you?" I said shaking my head at her
"Love me!" she yelled from the shower
"I already do, but I'll see you later I'm going to met up with Gabriella. Stay out of trouble!" I yelled walking out
The bell rang as Ms. Dawning's class came into view I saw Gabriella walk out followed by Marisa.
She said something to Gabriella and turned and went off on her way.
I walked up to her and hugged her tight and kissed her "Why do you look so sad?" I asked looking into her hazel eyes. What they said to me is "I want to be alone." Maybe it was a good idea that I made plans with June tonight.
"I never come to school today..." she trailed off as she linked her arm through mine
I thought about it for a second, now that I think about it. She never has for the past six or so years now. "I've noticed that." I kept a slow pace so I'd stay next to her she cheeks turned a light pink.
"My dad….he died today…he was shot…" she trailed off looking away from me
I stopped in front of the door to our last class and pulled her into a hug and held her.
I looked down and kissed her. As if to say 'I'm sorry'
I moved a piece of her hair from her eyes she blushed her whole face turning bright red
"Don't cry. You have me" I said she kissed me hard making me blush.
I smiled as I pulled away she looked down blushing more.
"You're too cute. Ya know that?" I said giggling and opening the door for her
"No I didn't" she giggled and walked into class taking her seat
I squeezed her hand as I walked by and took my seat behind her
Mr. Quidset wrote something on the board "Today we will be talking about American literature" he said. "Take notes, there will be a test on this later on." He added and went on with the lesson
After class I waited by Gabriella's locker.
She walked up with Mary
"Hi" Mary said
"Hey." I said taking Gabriella's hand and squeezing it "You ready to go?" I asked her
"Yeah" she said looking at Mary "I'll see you later bestie" Mary said kissing her cheek and disappearing into the mob of people.
I put my arm around Gabriella's shoulder and walked out to the parking lot.
I opened the car door for her and went around to my side getting in and starting it
"So, which shop is your car at?" I asked pulling out into the road
"Huh? Oh, it's at Jack's auto shop" she said looking out the window
"Okay" I nodded I knowing exactly where that was. I turned left on Lambton Dr and headed north.
I turned right into the small parking lot twenty-five minutes later and parked in front of the building.
Gabriella got out as I turned off the car and got out following her inside.
She rang the bell on the desk I shook my head "they're in the back, they most likely have music on. They won't hear it" I said walking around the desk
"What are you doing?" she asked looking confused at me
"Going into the back Jack won't mind." I said smiling "Come 'on" I opened the door leading into the back she appeared by my side quickly as we walked down the hall
"Jack?! Andie?! You guys here!" I yelled poking my head into one of the back rooms
"Elena!? Well aren't you a site for sore eyes!" Jack said walking around a corner I smiled and walked into the room with Gabriella next to me he hugged me "When ya coming back kid? And whose this pretty girl you have with you?" he asked smiling at me and Gabriella
"Soon most likely, and this is Gabriella my girlfriend, Gabby this is Jack an old friend of the family. I work here sometimes when I need the extra cash" I said looking at her
Jack held out his hand and Gabriella took his hand and shook it "Nice to meet you" she said shyly. "Likewise Gabriella, been awhile since…Ooof!" I elbowed Jack in the ribs before he could finish and glared at him he got the hint and changed the subject "So what can I help you girls with?" he said
"We're here to pick up my car" Gabriella said looking down
"Ahhh okay. Which one was yours?" He asked
"The 2005 silver mustang convertible" she smiled
"Alright, I'll have Andie pull it around for ya." He said walking to the door
"Feel free to help your selves to a pop or whatever" he added disappearing down the hall
"Want anything?" I asked squeezing her hand she shook her head "Okay, lets head back to the front then"
Andie was lending against the desk when we got there "Look what the cat dragged in" He said eyeing me "Nice to see they released you from the psych-ward" I smiled at him
He laughed and held out the keys to Gabriella's car "I take it these are yours?" she smiled taking them "Yes they are. Thank you"
"Don't you guys be strangers now, comeback anytime you want." Jack said
"We will Jack." I smiled waving as we walked out
"Jack seemed nice" she said
"He is, Andie is too, he just seems like a jerk but he's only that way with me" I half laughed
"Anyways.." I trailed off looking at her "I'm sorry about your dad and all..I didn't know it was today. If I had known I would have just left you alone.. Instead of dragging you too school" I frowned slightly she looked me dead in the eyes "You didn't drag me to school. I dragged myself to school. I needed the change. And besides, I'd miss that face of yours." She smiled
I smiled blushing she kissed me softly "I'll see you tomorrow baby" she said walked to her car
I watched as she pulled away once she was out of sight I got in my car and headed home.
Gabriella's POV
I missed her already. I sighed looking out my rear-view mirror.
I turned into the grave yard, parked and got out.
I sighed again walking up to my dad's grave.
I stopped and sat down. "Dad.." I sighed.
"Dad..I miss you. Please forgive me. I know I should've showed up earlier, been here all day. I went to school instead. I met this girl not too long ago." I looked down wiping my eyes. "Well I'm falling for her. Her name is Elena. She's sweet and totally amazing. If you were here I'd have you meet her. I miss you dad. I will always miss you..i love you." I got up and walked back to my car wiping my eyes again.
I jumped when my phone went off. "Hello." I said, starting my car.
"You okay?" I heard Mary's voice and smiled.
"I'm better." I turned out of the graveyard.
"You sure?"
"Mhm, I visited his grave. I'm better."
"Good, I need to talk to you." she said quickly.
"I'll be right over."
"hurry." she hung the phone up. I looked for a road to turn around on.
I pulled into her drive way and got out. She ran out and hugged me.
She was crying. She didn't let go.
"Who the fuck do I have to beat up?"
She let go of me and walked around my car and got in.
I started my car.
"Alex." she said looking at me.
"What happened?" I pulled out of the driveway and drove down her street.
"We broke up." I knew it!
"Why?" I turned on harvest ave.
"He was a total jerk. And today at lunch pissed me off."
"What? The 'you're a lesbian' thing?" I said in his kinda like voice. She laughed.
"That, yes He was always a jerk to you. I decided to end it. Well.." she trailed off sighing. I pulled into a small cafe shop.
"Well, what?" I turned off my car and got out.
"He said he never loved me.. After two years of dating me."
"That ass!" we walked into the cafe shop.
"Can you get me French vanilla?" she looked at me.
"Of course." I went to the counter.
"Hey, gabby."
"Hi, Marisa. Can I get two French vanilla coffees please and a Reese's?' I smiled.
"Sure thing. Anything else?" she smiled. I looked at Mary. She shook her head.
"Nope, that's all."
"That will be $7.80." I gave her the money and my card.
I grabbed our coffees and Reese and walked back to where Mary is sitting.
I sat down beside her.
"I just don't get it." she said before sipping her coffee.
"You might not get it, but you can always find someone else."
"I love Alex though." she looked down.
"I know you do." I looked over at the door.
"God fuck." she said. She looked at Alex walking in.
"Just ignore him." I said sipping my coffee.
She looked at me. "Let's go to your place so this bastard won't be here." she got up.
"Go to my car I'll be right out."
"okay." she walked off but Alex stopped her.
I walked to get to her. "What the hell?" I heard her say.
I stopped beside her. "oh look you brought your lesbian friend here."
"Fuck off asshole." I said punching him in the jaw hard.
She looked at me and smiled.
"Come on." I slid my arm through hers and walked off.
I got in my car and started it. She sat down closed the door and looked at me.
"What?" I looked at her.
"Why?"
"He deserved it maybe?" I said smiling.
"That he does."
"It hurts a little.."
She took my right hand and examined it. "Looks like it did for him too." she said letting go of my hand.
"Call your mom and ask her if you can sleep over." I pulled out as she called her mom.
I shut the door behind me. Mary went up to my room.
"Derrick?!?" I yelled through the hallway going to the kitchen
"What?!" yelled down the steps. I turned around and went upstairs."
"I'm home." I said.
He stopped me. "Your hand.." he took it.
I looked at it. I didn't feel a thing.
"What happened?"
"Mary's ex boyfriend. I hate people who call me out as a 'lesbian'. The whole world doesn't need to know."
He shook his head. "Go to your room, I'll come wrap it." he went in his room.
I walked to my room and sat down on my bed.
Mary looked at my hand.
"Holy shit."
My brother came in and sat in front of us.
"give me your hand." I stretched my hand out. He tried to wrap it up.
It stung. "owwwwwwwwww." I flinched back.
"Come on." he stood up. Me and Mary followed behind him.
We walked to the Car.
"No, I'm not going to the hospital." I backed up.
"Come on baby sister." he looked at me.
Mary came up beside me. "I'll have Elena come to see you, Gabby."
I looked at her. She took my phone.
"Fine." I got in the car.
She dialed Elena's number and handed me the phone.
"hello." she said through the phone.
"hey." my voice cracked.
"You alright?"
"I punched Alex and now I'm heading to the hospital. Derrick's making me go."
"St. Mary's?"
"Yeah."
"I'll meet you there." I heard her car door slam shut as she hung up.
We got to the hospital the same time she did. She got of her car and rushed over to me. I looked down. June came up behind her. Elena linked her arm through mine. Mary took my other arm.
We walked in the hospital. Derrick walked to the front desk.
"I don't wanna be here." I sat down.
"I know you don't." Elena kissed me. "You'll be out of here before you know it."
"Gabriella Bell?"
I stood up and followed her with Elena and Derrick. Mary and June stayed behind.
They took an X-Ray of my hand and came back in a few minutes later.
I leaned on Elena gently
The doctor lady took my hand lightly. "You sprained it is all. I'm going to wrap it but in about ten or so day's you should be able to take it off"
She wrapped my hand up. I tried not to flinch.
"Now, dear, don't go off punching people in the face again." she said eying me.
I stood up. "I'll try not to." I walked out with Elena beside me.
I stopped her and kissed her a little harder than usual. I looked down afterwards blushing badly. I looked at her blushing. Derrick walked up.
"Come on we gotta go before mom gets home."
"Okay okay." I said.
"I'll see you tomorrow." she looked at me. I waited until my brother left and kissed her again.
"Don't forget about our date." I smiled and walked us out.
Elena's POV
June was standing outside when I got home
"I was going to come pick you up you know." I said getting out of my car
She shrugged "It's not that long of a walk, and plus I needed out of the house. Dad was starting to drink when I got home. And you know how he gets when he's drunk…" she trailed off
I hugged her "You going to stay the night then I take it?" I asked walking back up to the house with her "Yeah, if it's cool with your mom"
"Mom loves you, so I'm sure she'll be fine with it" As we walked in Chase and Casey ran down the stairs
"Hey you two" I said "Where's mom?"
Chase thought about it "In the basement" he said after a second
Casey came up and hugged me I picked her up hugging her tightly
"Alright, I'll be right back then" I said setting her down and looking at June she smiled and looked at the twins "So, what have you two been up to today?" She asked walking into the living room with them
I walked down to the basement "Mommm? You down here?"
"Over here" she said I walked the rest of the way down the stairs and over to where she was
"How was school?" She asked folding clothes "Good, is it alright if June stays the night?"
"Sure, but isn't it a" I cut her off before she could finish "Yes it is, but her dad must have a had a bad day at work cause when she got home he was already drinking…"I frowned lending against the washer "Ahh, in that case she can stay the weekend if she wants" "Awesome" I kissed her cheek and went back up stairs
Chase had talked us into playing a game of go fish, course June was winning like always.
"You cheat!" I growled at her "Naw you just really suck at this game" she laughed
Chase and Casey giggled along I just glared at them
"Whatever, I still think you cheat somehow" I rolled my eyes
"Dinner!" Mom yelled from the kitchen
"Saved by the bell" I sighed getting up off the floor.
"I want a rematch later, June" I eyed her as we walked
"Okayyy, you're still going to lose" she said sitting at the table
"Who said it was going to be in go fish?" I grinned evilly at her grabbing a roll and putting it on my plate then handing the basket of rolls to mom
June glared at me "You wouldn't"
"Oh, I would, and I'm going to"
"Would do what?" Mom asked cutting up Chase's piece of chicken
"Challenge June to a game of DDR" I said taking a bite of my salad
Mom laughed remembering the last time me and June played DDR
June and I had played for almost four hours because we kept tying.
I finely won the last game, only because she fell making her miss a few steps.
After diner Me & June cleaned up the kitchen and broke out the PS2 and DDR
"I don't know HOW you talked me into playing this…" she grumbled
"Me either" I laughed as my phone rang
I growled and looked at the number it was Gabby
"hello" I said answering quickly
"Hey" Gabriella said her voice cracking
"You alright?" I asked
"I punched Alex and now I'm heading to the hospital. Derrick's making me go." She said
"St. Mary's?" I asked grabbing June's hand and my keys, as I nearly dragged her out the door
"Yeah." She said as I got into my car "Where are we going?" June asked
"I'll meet you there." I said slamming the door and hanging up
"Gabriella's going to the hospital" I said starting the car and pulling out into the road
"What? Why?" she said putting on her seat belt
"She punched Alex, and hurt her hand. Her brother is making her go"
"Oh, okay. Then why are we..never mind." she rolled her eyes slightly
"Why must you get so over protective of people when you date them?"
"I have no idea. I think it's in my DNA or something" I turned onto the highway
"I think so. Ya freak" she said looking at me "holy crap! Slow down! She's not dying!"
"Sorry.."I trailed off slowing down to the speed limit I couldn't help it, I have a lead foot
"Wait a second! This is coming from someone who does 110 on the highway!" I growled at her she just laughed "Yeah so? I don't drive a death trap"
"Mines safer than yours" I said shaking my head
"Sure, sure" she looked out the window
I turned into the hospital parking lot just as Gabriella and everyone was getting out of whoever's car. I found a parking spot quickly and got out walking up to the Emergency room doors meeting Gabriella, Mary, & Derrick in front of them. June came up behind me as I linked my arm through hers and Mary did the same on the other side and we walked into the waiting room as Derrick signed Gabriella in.
"I don't wanna be here" Gabriella complained sitting down.
"I know you don't." I kissed her lightly "You'll be out of here before you know it."
"Gabriella Bell?" the nurse called
Gabriella stood up and pulled me with her Derrick followed us and the nurse.
Mary & June stayed behind talking about something. I didn't care I wasn't paying much attention to what people wear saying, I had other things on my mind.
They took Gabriella back for X-rays; they wouldn't let me go back with her so I sat with Derrick back in the room.
"So..You like my sister huh?" He asked messing with his phone
I nodded "Yeah, I do."
"Don't break her heart." He said looking at me
"I'm going to try not to..." I said looking down at my hands.
Did he know about my track record or something?
"Good" he said and went back to playing with his phone.
Gabriella came back out a few minutes later and sat on the bed I sat with her.
She leaned on me I wrapped my arm around her waist
The Doctor 'Alice Grey' is what her name tag said. She took Gabriella's hand lightly moving it slightly.
"You sprained it is all. I'm going to wrap it. But in about ten or so days you should be able to take it off" she said starting to wrap her hand.
"Now dear. Don't go off punching people in the face again." Alice said
Gabriella stood up "I'll try not to"
Me and her walked out into the hall Derrick stopped talking to the doctor for a moment.
She stopped me and kissed me hard then looked down, her face turning bright red.
She looked up at me. I smiled at her as Derrick walked up
"Come on we gotta go before mom gets home."
"Okay okay." She said
"I'll see you tomorrow." I said looking at her, after her brother left she kissed me again.
"Don't forget about our date." She smiled and caught u p with her brother.
"Oh, I won't" I said to myself.
I met back up with June at my car she was sipping what looked like coffee
"Ready to go?" I asked she nodded swallowing her last drink of whatever and threw it in the trash. "Hospital cafeteria coffee is HORRIABLE. </b>" she said getting in
"Oh is it now?" I laughed getting in and starting it "I had noo idea" I giggled more
She rolled her eyes and watched out the window as I drove home
I had a feeling it was going to be a long night.
After five rounds of DDR me and June took a break letting Chase & Casey take a whack at it.
We sat on the couch and talked some.
"So what did you and Mary talk about while we were in back?" I asked looking at the twins
"Talked about you guys mostly. And some other stuff" she said getting comfy.
"Ah, all good things I hope" I said looking at her out of the corner of my eye at her.
"Yes, I left out anything bad" she rolled her eyes "Don't want her repeating it to Gabby and having it mess up the relationship. You'll tell her everything when you want too" she added
"Thank you" I said as mom walked in
"Alright you two, time for bed" She said looking at the twins
"Awwwwww. One more round! Pleaseeee?" they pouted
"No, you can play more tomorrow" she said "now head up and get ready I'll be up to tuck you in, in a few" they frowned "okay…"
"Night you two" June said smiling at them. They hugged her then me
"Love you guys, night" I said
"Night June, Night Elena" they said and ran upstairs
I looked at June "One more round?" I asked with a grin
"Ugh No" she groaned
"pleaseeeeeeeeeeee? I'll love you forever!" I said pouting
She glared at me "Fine. But knock off the pouting. oh and loser buys breakfast tomorrow"
I looked at her "Deal" I held my hand out and we shook on it.
"Pick a song" I said
"hmm…" she flipped through the songs and stopped on 'neutron'
I groaned "why do I let you pick the songs."
She laughed as the song started.
