"So you did miss me?" I ask and he rolls his eyes and grab my hand.
"Let's head in" he says pulling me up the stairs and I smile. When we get inside everyone was focused to the front as the trial had already started. "Cole and everyone are upstairs" I said and he just stares at me. I let go of his hand and look down.
"Good luck Jo" he said and I smile then turn around and hurry up the aisle. I feel my mother and father's eyes on me as I walk pass them and went to go sit down next to Nick. Vivian was up talking to the witness on the stand. Throughout the trial, my heart starts to pump faster. I was getting nervous. The other team was doing much better and I could see the jury siding with them. I turn around when I see Naomi and Sawyer. Naomi waves at me and I smile. I look to see Cole and he smiles at me and I smile back. I didn't see Dylan and I hope he didn't leave.
I look further down in the audience to see Dylan. His black leather jacket and his hair made him stand out. You could tell he didn't belong which made it even better. I stare at Dylan and his eyes walk over to mine.
"Alright, we will take a ten minute recess" the judge says and everyone in the audience start talking and my team got up and we start to head to the back room. I stop when I reach Dylan and sat down next to him.
"This is going horrible" I say shaking my head.
"Josephina... come on. You serious?" Dylan said and I look at him. "Think about that night with Naomi" he adds and I stare at him. Not only is he actually paying attention but he's making me think!
"Oh wow! You are a genius!" I said bending over to kiss him. I hurry to get up and ran back to meet my team.
"Jo, they are going to win. I'm so sorry. I really tried" she shakes her head.
"Vivian, no you're doing a great job. Everyone just think about it. This guy is a freshmen and he wears a pin stating he's in a frat. How does one get a frat pin so fast?"
"He earned it..." Nick said.
"By?"
"Sleeping with the hottest girl in school who was drugged up on ecstasy. Damn Jo, you're genius" Vivian said. We hurry to gather our papers up again and went back out to the court.
By the time the trial ended, we truly try to flip the story and go with raping our client to be in a frat house but the jury wasn't buying it and we lost our case. Although we lost. I wasn't mad. My team and I worked real hard on this case and we did a damn good job.
"Sorry Jo" someone says and Sawyer and everyone follow behind her and I shrug my shoulders.
"It was a good fight" I said.
"Miss. Boyce" someone said and I look over to Mr. Barkley and Eric behind him.
"Hi Mr. Barkley" I said.
"You know... my son had to truly convince me to come see you today. After the little lie you both were holding I didn't want you a part of my team at all" he says and I shake my head. "But seeing what you did today... Josephina, I would be honor to have you be an intern this summer at my law firm" he said and my heart stops.
"Are you serious?" I smile.
"Yes. You did an amazing job and you should have won this case, but a little more yelling and guidance that I can teach you will get you there" he said handing me his card.
"Thank you so much Mr. Barkley" I say and he smiles and turns to walk away. Eric smiles and I mouthed 'thank you' and he follows behind his father. I turn back to my friends and we start to freak out.
"Almost had them" someone said and I look over to see Dylan and a bigger smile came across my face. Everything about this moment is amazing. I lean in to kiss him which turns to a smile.
"I have something for you" I said turning around pulling out the envelope. "These are for you" I say.
"What is it?" he ask taking the envelopes.
"I sent in your portfolios to different schools and exhibits and you got a lot of responses" I smile and he stares at me.
"You did this... for me?" he ask.
"Yes" I said and he shakes his head.
"Why do you guys do that? Why do you guys assume I want to go to school?" he ask.
"You guys?"
"Cole applied to colleges for me too and now you're doing this? Why?"
"You're a smart and talented guy Dylan. We just want to see you do big things" I say and he stare at me. "Dylan... it won't hurt to look and read about these places" I said.
"Josephina" I hear my mom's voice. I turn around and my parents were walking up to me.
"I know, I know... I didn't win. I'll work harder next time" I said.
"But you did win..." my mom says and I look at her confused.
"Josephina, four different law firms just came up to us and want you to intern with them this summer" my dad said showing me their business cards and my mouth falls open.
"Really?" I said and they smile at me. "That's great!"
"I'm going to go home and make a list with full details over each firm and we will talk about them later" she says and I laugh.
"Okay" I said and they smile and turn around and walk away from me.
"I think it's a night of celebration!" Naomi said kissing my cheek.
"She's right Jo, we have to celebrate!" Sawyer says and I smile at them then look over at Dylan. He was looking down at the envelope.
"I could eat..." Cole says.
"Me too" Viola says.
"Let's go to Munchies" Cole said walking away and everyone follows.
"What's Munchies?" I hear Sawyer whisper to Cody. I stare at Dylan and his eyes look up at mine.
"Are we going? If not... I'm up to whatever" I said and he smiles. He grabs my hand and we follow everyone outside. I hand Dylan his keys and turn around to see Naomi hugging on Viola. "Hey Naomi"
"Yo!" Naomi smiles at me.
"Could you drive my car?"
"Uhh... yea" she says and I throw her my keys. I get in on the passenger side of Dylan's car and shut the door.
"I guess everything worked out for you, huh?" Dylan says and I look over at him.
"Strange how that works, right?" I said and he laughs and rest his hand on my thigh. Ugh! How missed Dylan touching me. When we pull in to Munchies, everyone stood outside waiting for us. I get out the car and Dylan locks his door and we all walk inside.
"Yea could we get a booth please" Cole said.
"Of course" the hostess said and we were escorted to the biggest booth in the back. Sawyer sat to my right and Dylan sat to my left and everyone fills in on the side.
"You know Cole, it's a celebration and I was thinking more of a fancier restaurant" Sawyer said and we laugh. Everyone was looking through the menus and I look over at Dylan. He was looking down at his phone and I smile at him. I missed how perfect he was. I think he realize I was staring at him because his mouth goes into a smirk and his eyes shoot over at me. I smile and look back over at my menu.
"What can I get you guys to drink?" the waitress ask.
"Yea could I get a mountain dew and a fruit punch" Dylan says.
"Yea me too" I said and smile at him.
"Could I get a tea and a mountain dew" Cole said and I look at him. What is with these guys in mixing their drinks? We all order and wait to be served.
"Thank you guys for all coming today, it meant a lot" I said.
"But you lost?" Cody said and I roll my eyes.
"I know, shut up Cody" I said and everyone starts laughing. I look over and Dylan was looking back at his phone again. "You okay?"
"Yea" he says smiling at me.
"So what Dylan... did you choke today or what?" someone says and we look over to see three guys standing in front of our table.
"Chill..." Dylan said and the guys laugh.
"No man. You cost us a lot of money" the guy that was talking wore a black sweat shirt and had a mark on his face.
"Never told you guys to put money on me" Dylan said.
"Yea you kind of did. But we get it, good pussy gets you whipped" the guy laughs and I drop my mouth open.
"What the fuck you just say?" Dylan said and I grab his arm.
"Dylan calm down" Cole says standing up and looks at the guys. "Vince... now is not the time. You see we're about to eat, okay?"
"No Cole, now is the time" Vince says.
"Can't you guys just leave us alone?" I said and Vince looks at me and laughs.
"Dylan... let's talk outside" Vince said.
"No, he's not going" I said holding onto his arm.
"Don't do that" Dylan said looking at me and the guys laugh. "Vince, I have nothing to talk to you about"
"Yes... you did" Vince said lifting his jacket showcasing a gun in his pants. We all gasp and I look over at Dylan. He was staring at Vince and shakes his head.
"Move"Dylan said and Naomi and Viola get up from their seats. I stare at Dylan and helooks at me. "Jo... move" he said and I shake my head and move and slidesout. Vince, Dylan and the guys leave the booth. I stare at Dylan leave thediner and shake my head.
