Subject: Are you ignoring us?

Charles? The guys and I are worried about you. We've tried emailing, texting, and calling you and you haven't answered. What the hell is going on? You keep dodging us-what happened at the bonfire with you and Chase? We are going to storm into one of your classes if you don't reach out to us by noon. We have given you two weeks of space.

****

A pack of girls in cheerleading uniforms are on the library steps as I wait inside my car. It was four days after the bonfire and I somehow managed to become the talk on campus from my swimsuit and I'm the reason for Chase moving out of the frat house-not for the real reason, but because I'm sleeping with Miguel. I cried about the rumors the first three days and skipped school the next three after that. Now this entire week I've been sneaking around campus like a criminal to go to my classes without seeing any of the guys. This email proves just how incognito I have to be going forward.

Dove and her evil tribe of minions have me off their radar after she got what she wanted. I had to worry about one thing at a time. When the time comes for the whole picture incident that's when I will deal with it. Until now, keeping a low profile on campus is my main concern.

A tap on my window startles me. I lean towards the glass seeing Everett looking down at me. He is in workout out clothes and is drenched in sweat. I thought the guys went jogging in the early morning. It's almost ten, which means they have their business class. I synced my schedules with all of theirs so I wouldn't run into any of them and here we are.

"Are you going to roll down the window?" he taps the glass again. I slowly roll down the window-and I mean slowly. It was like watching Flash talk on Zootopia-yes that slow.

"Hey, Everett, surprised to see you here" I fake shock and he knows it. He shakes his head slightly at me and smirks. Everett wasn't one of my favorites back at the house, but he makes for great conversation at times. I don't want to have one now-by the look on his face, we are about to have one.

"Are you really?" he tilts his head to the side. "The guys and I have been trying to call you for the last two weeks. Is your phone dead? Did you lose it?"

"Nope, I have it right here." I pick up the phone waving it in the air before placing it back on the passenger seat.

"So you've just been flat out ignoring us?"

"No—I just been very busy that's all. Living back with my parents can distract me."

"You're lying, Charles, why are you lying to me?" he shakes his head.

"I'm not lying to you."

"You lied again and you know how I know you are lying you do this weird thing with your eyes. It's pretty fucking creepy. Like one of those baby dolls—fucking creepy. So, tell me the truth."

"My eyes?"

"Don't try to change the subject, why are you dodging us? And before you think about lying remember that not only do I know when you are lying, I also have connections with some cheerleaders who may or may not have told me already what happened two weeks ago."

I froze in my seat.

He knows.

Does that mean all the guys know too?

"First of all, you're lying. I don't run in the same circle as the cheerleaders."

He leans towards the car window, "Second of all you are lying," he chuckles. "You are doing that creepy eye shit again. I'm not going to keep you because I have to run but stop by the frat house sometime. We even let Chase back in last week."

"Really?" My eyes nearly popped out of my head.

"Yeah, he and Natalia got into a huge argument and she kicked him out. We couldn't just leave him and since you aren't in the house we figured we could let him back in. However, he is on chore duty for the next month."

So they let him back in only because I wasn't there? I'm not buying this story he is selling. I wonder if the "he had to leave for two months" was even true. Maybe this was Chase's plan all along to get me out of the house. But it doesn't make sense really, he did tell me to stay. I just wasn't going to because of course, we shared equal blame.

"Oh."

"Stop by the house this weekend." He is already sticking his earbuds in.

"If I have the time." I give him a tight smile rolling up my window as he waves bye, jogging down the street. I grab my laptop and message the only person I know that wouldn't lie to me.

Charlotte.Withers: When were you going to tell me Chase moved back in??

Vincent.Beckett: Hello to you too. You would've known if you picked up the damn phone.

Charlotte.Withers: How about sending a text that said hey Chase is moving back in the house you can come back to. Or was this some kind of plan you guys came up with to get me to leave?

Vincent.Beckett: Charlotte, what are you talking about? We wanted you to stay but you insisted on leaving. If you would have picked up your phone then you would have known. Simple as that. You let because you wanted to, so dont come at me guns blazing when it was all you.

Vincent.Beckett added Darren.Reed

Darren.Reed: Charles, where have you been?

Vincent.Beckett: Please tell Charlotte we didn't plan on Chase coming back before the two months were over.

Darren.Reed: That's correct. You are always welcomed back too... Do you wanna come back now that Chase is in the house? We told you to stay in the first place. I dont think we owe you an explanation because you did take it upon yourself to leave. However, you can come back.

Vincent.Beckett: You can always come back you know.

The nerve of those two, I didn't want to move back in because Chase was back. Or did I? Not wasting any more time, I slip my laptop into my bag and get out of the car. The cheerleaders on the steps are gone and I can finally go to the library. I step out of the car and take in a breath of crisp fall air. I walk quickly to the library, the fallen leaves crackle underneath my booties. I love the fall-perfect sweater weather.

Entering the library was what I expected. A few students sitting around, none of who participate in the gossip or parties here on campus. I find a seat at the back and settle in. Powering back up my laptop I see three emails from some of the guys. I exit and pull up Microsoft Word. I am behind on two papers and a quiz.

"Charlotte?" I look up to see Wolf.

I don't have time for this.

"Oh yeah, you were Lion or Owl? Sorry..." Hopefully, that will give him a hint that I don't want to talk to him.

"Wolf, but my real name is Nate. Mind if I sit down?" I figured he would just take the seat, but he is waiting for my response. Hmm...

"I would love for conversation, but I have a lot of papers I need to do that are past due and I don't have time to chit-chat. Sorry." I pull out my Chemistry textbook, just so he can see that I am not lying.

"I'm excellent at Chemistry-I can help you." He moves to the opposite side of the table and seats down right next to me.

"I don't have time to play games Nate-Wolf whichever one you prefer. I have to get to work." I turn slightly and look at him.

He smiles at me.

"No, I really am great a Chemistry. I major in Biochemistry." He takes the Chemistry book opens it up to a random page and then looks at me.

"Oh," I look back at him. "You don't have to help me, Wolf. I can manage."

"Please call me Nate. I like the way you say my name," he winks at me. "I don't mind helping you. So what papers are you working on? We can start with the harder one first if you want?"

"Are you sure? You probably came in here to do some work of your own." Red flag Charlotte. Pump the brakes. The last thing you want is to be friends with him. I can always ask a less perverted friend to help me. Hell, I can probably get one of the guys to help me. But, like always my mind and mouth dont always agree on the same thing.

"Yeah, I just finished some research. I was about to leave when I saw you."

"Oh," I dig into my bag, to get my notebook out with the info for my paper. "So here is the paper and I think this one is going to be the harder topic out of the two." I just want to see if he is good at Chemistry like he said he is. God if anyone finds out Wolf—Nate is my study buddy—rumors will run ramped and the guys aren't going to be too thrilled with me.

"Did you pick these questions yourself?" he sighs.

"Maybe."

"How about we tried to come up with some different ones?"

"Why?"

He mindlessly flips through the pages and stops to look at me again. A smile spreads across his face. This wasn't an "I'm going to charm your pants off", but a genuine one that turns into him full-blown laughing at me? A few students nearby look at us, I mouth sorry and tell Wolf to hush.

"These are high school thesis paper questions. If you want to pass with a decent grade—wait, how late are these papers?"

"A week late." I bite down on my bottom lip.

He raises his eyebrows. "Ok, so you are looking at, at least fifteen percent off your paper, and if you turn it in with these topics you are looking at least C-. I know the Professor of this class and she would probably give you a D, honestly."

"Oh no," I bury my face in my hands. "My science grades are the only ones I have a problem maintaining a good grade in. I always pass--barely and I need to pass this class. They're going to be looking at this semester's grades too." I groan.

I feel his hands on me and he slowly removes my hands from my face.

"Remember me? I'm great at this stuff. How about we research some things online and then go looking around the library for others. I'm sure we're going to find something to at least get you a B-."

"Really?" I look at him. He is my knight in shining armor—sort of.

"Yeah," he lets go of my wrist and taps my laptop. "Shall we?"

I lunge at him giving him a big hug. "You're a lifesaver, Wolf."

"Please call me Nate and don't praise me just yet. We don't know what grade you are going to receive."

"Right," I let him go, turning my attention to my laptop. "Alright let's do it, Nate."
