Lucky's POV

"Alright everyone put your pens down."

In the classroom, you could hear everyone setting their pens on the table. Everyone except for me at least. I was rushing to write down these last few words on my paper.

"Hey, dumbass." Ivy, who was sitting next to me, poked me. "He said stop writing."

"Ivy," Riley, who sat on my other side, whispered back at her, "leave her alone, or else you'll get punched in the face."

Ivy lowered her head, and left me alone. Calvin skipped class today, so that's why Ivy and her sister were sitting so close to me.

I was able to finish the sentence I was writing by the time the professor came to our row to collect our papers. After which, he handed back our previous test that we took during the first week of classes.

When he came back to our row again, I noticed how I was the only one who passed the quiz. I got an A plus. Ivy and Chrissy failed, and were bummed out about it. Riley got her test back, but didn't look phased by the D minus that she received.

I looked at my mate with confused eyes. "How did you fail that?"

Riley shrugged. "I always fail tests and stuff."

"But, how!? Just yesterday you were helping me study for today's test. You obviously know the information and what not."

"Yeah, I know most of the material." Riley crumpled up her test, and threw it behind her, into a garbage can. "That doesn't mean I feel like proving my knowledge on a piece of paper."

The professor dismissed the class as soon as he was done passing back all the tests. Riley and I left, and Ivy and Chrissy followed right behind us.

As we were walking, I began to notice... Riley really doesn't do all that well in the classroom. Her notebook has a few pages of notes, but most of the pages are filled with doodles. She falls asleep halfway through class, and she doesn't even hand in essays on time.

A normal student like that would be kicked out of the class from their professor, but Riley is getting cut some slack. I wasn't sure why, and I don't think I wanted to know.

"So, Riley." Chrissy called out from the side. "there's a pack meeting later on today, and some of us are gonna hang out at the club tonight. You in?"

"Eh, not really." Riley sighed. "I think I'm going to stay in tonight."

The two sisters froze in their tracks and let out a gasp. Ivy was the one capable of speaking. "But, it's a pack meeting."

"And the club." Chrissy repeated. "Since when do you stay in?"

Riley got defensive. "Why does it matter?"

The sisters looked at each other, the back at us.

"Well, you've been acting a little different lately."

"Yeah, and you're always with her." Chrissy pointed at me. "Not to mention that you're always defending her whenever we get within 20 feet of her."

"Lucky and I hang out, so what?"

"So what?" Ivy shrieked. "During the beginning of the semester you were plotting to kill her."

"You two are so annoying." Riley groaned.

I looked up at her. She was running her temples with her thumb and index finger.

"We just want to know what's going on." Chrissy stomped her foot in frustration.

"Lucky and I are mates." Riley finally said. "We're dating, okay? Happy now?" She grabbed my hand."Come on, Lucky." She started pulling me away from the girls.

I didn't get a chance to look behind me to see their reaction. Based on the pace we were going at, they were probably too far away for me to see their faces.

When we were a good distance away, Riley finally let go of me. "Damn, they get on my nerves." She breathed.

"I can't imagine why." I said sarcastically. "So, what exactly do you plan on doing for the rest of the day?"

Riley shrugged. "You wanna hang out?"

"Actually, there's a game later on tonight. Do you want to go?"

"What kind of game?"

"Lacrosse."

Riley grimaced. "Uh, no. I'd rather stay in and claw my own eyes out."

"That's... Graphic. Look, my brother is on the team, and I want to support him, but I also want you to be there with me."

Riley's expression changed once I mentioned Tyler. "Okay, yeah, I'll go. But only because you asked."

I found it strange how she changed her mind so quickly, but I decided not to press on the situation, not while I was ahead.

When the time came, we headed off to the lacrosse field. There were numerous seats surrounding the turf. I was surprised that we found a spot to sit in. It must've been a big game, because there were a lot of fans crowding around already. The boy's lacrosse team is number one in the state, so I guess that's partly the reason.

The game hasn't started yet. We had a few minutes to spare. Looking around, I spotted Crystal walking to a few seats close by with her roommates. She waved and I waved back.

Riley must've saw her too, because she growled, but only loud enough that I could hear it. I grabbed her hand to calm her down. She changed her view over towards me, and fully kissed me. It was her way of showing that I belonged to her.

I opened my eyes quickly and noticed how Crystal's face hardened. She let out a huff, then stormed off to some seats behind us.

Riley finally pulled away, leaving my lips a bit swollen. Her gold eyes were bright as hell. She had a proud smirk on her face, knowing she had made my ex jealous.

A few moments later, a middle aged couple sat directly in front of us. They were married, you could tell by the rings on their left hands. Their fingers were interlocked with one another, and the husband pulled his wife close to him.

The wind blew, and I managed to catch a whiff of their scent. Not only did they look familiar, but they smelled familiar as well.

I took a closer look at them. I only saw the back of their heads. The husband had pitch black hair. He was also starting to bald. The wife had light brown hair, pulled back into a bun.

They were both in formal attire, which was odd, because this was only a game. They reminded me of my parents... They dressed nicely everywhere they went.

"Mom? Dad?" I blurted out.

The two of them turned around at the sound of my voice. Both their golden eyes sparkled once they saw me.

"Lucky!" My mom shrieked. She stood up and have me a hug. "I'm sorry, I didn't realize you were behind us."

"It's okay, Mom, but please let go before you choke me to death." I joked a bit, but my mom really was holding me tightly.

She released me from her grip. My dad hugged me next. Only he actually picked me up and swung me around in a circle. My dad was strong, and had a lot of muscle for his age. He is an alpha after all.

"It's been so long, Lucky." He said and put me back down on the ground. "How is college life treating you?"

"It's pretty great, Dad." I answered, sitting back down next to Riley. "How is everything back home?"

"Kind of dull without both of my kids around, but everything else is fine. Oh, but, the pack had doubled in size since you left for school."

"How so?"

My dad cleared his throat before speaking. "Alpha Kikki has agreed to merge her pack with ours." He stated proudly. "She's been having similar troubles with Alpha Vince. Not only has he been targeting our pack, but hers too."

Riley fidgeted once my father mentioned Vince. She looked uncomfortable.

My mother spoke this time. "Joining forces not only gave us numbers, but now our territory has doubled in size. Plus, that will increase safety for you and your brother."

"Kikki has pack members that attend this college. If Vince ever tries anything sneaky in order to hurt you or Tyler, they'll have your back."

I thought for a moment. I've heard about this Alpha before. When I was a little younger, he came up with numerous tactics in order to get to my brother and I. Similar to how Riley's dad has been doing.

"That is my dad." Riley sighed.

I looked over at her, not surprised at what I just heard. I almost forgot that my parents were still here.

"And, who is this young lady?" My dad asked. "Is she your mate?"

My mom almost jumped up and down. "Oh, is this the infamous Crystal that Tyler has told us about?"

I groaned. Tyler would call up my parents and tell them that my mate was Crystal. "No Mom, this is Riley."

Riley looked up at them. My parents were in shock once they locked eyes with her.

"You," my father pointed at her, "you're Vince's daughter! The one that's gone rogue."

"Guilty." Riley confirmed his assumption. "And being his daughter, I know him better than you guys do. You've seem to have forgotten that he's a power hungry freak. Now that your pack territory has increased, my Dad's gonna want to take over your pack even more now."

"Lucky, why are you with this girl?" My mom asked. Both of them completely ignored what Riley had just told them.

"Because she's my mate." I mumbled.

My dad laughed, even though I could tell he was some sort of upset. "This isn't happening." He started breathing heavy.

I grabbed Riley's hand, knowing things were probably going to get ugly.

"You do realize what she is capable of, what she's done!?" My father sneered. "She's a rogue, you're an alpha! Those two don't mix!"

"Damn, wanna calm down there?" Riley grinned. She was making a game out of this.

"You shut up." My dad commanded. He didn't yell, but he had a stern tone. He knew it wasn't proper of him to make a scene.

Turning his attention back to me, he said, "How can you bring yourself to trust her?"

I shrugged, not knowing what to say.

Thankfully, the lights on the field went on. The game was about to start.

"Can we talk about this later?" I asked.

With a heavy huff, my dad turned his back towards me. My mom looked between Riley and I. She sighed, then comforted my dad.

I threw my head back, relieved that the conversation was on hiatus. I rested my head on Riley's shoulder. She kissed the top of my head.

"I think that went well." She said, loud enough only for me to hear.

I smiled, but it quickly turned into a frown. How was I gonna get my parents to approve of her?
