Stumbling down the empty hallway in pain, I finally reached in front my class. I reached for the handle and turned it only to receive a bunch of stares and some gasp. I looked at Ms. Smithy who looked at me but then turned away, continuing to write something on the board. Ms. Smithy was like the rest of them. They didn't care and I gave no craps even if she did. This was basically how the whole town was and I've learned to just defend myself and Ethan.

I held my side as I walked to the back of the classroom. I sucked in a sharp breath as I sat down since the pain flowed through my body. I laid back in my chair and pulled out my phone before texting Ethan.

Me: If you feel uncomfortable or feel like something might happen, text or call me

A few seconds later, he replied.

Ethan: Will do. You okay?

Me: Yes. See you at lunch

Ethan: See you

I locked my phone and placed it on my desk. I looked over to see Kaiden was full on staring at me. I couldn't quite read his face since he was wearing those dark shades.

"What happened?" he asked in a worried tone.

"Nothing but I suggest you stop talking to me unless you want to end up like this," I stated as I turned my attention back to the board.

He didn't say anything after that. The rest of the period went by slow and painful, literally with me in pain. The bell soon enough rang and I reached down to grab my bag only to clutch my side in pain. A hand soon reach down and picked up my bag before passing it to me.

I looked up to see it was Kaiden again. I let out a sigh and took my bag from his hand. I heard some whispering and I turned to see some students looking at us. "Mind your business," I growled causing them to turn around and pack up their stuff.

I turned back to Kaiden, "Look, I appreciate your concern but this whole school let alone this whole town has something against me. So unless you want to be labelled "freak" I suggest you stay away," I briefly stated. Before he could process what I was saying, I turned on my heels and walked out the door.

I made my way to my next class which was Economics. Whispers spread through the hall and I knew it was about what went on in the bathroom since Ashley loves to spread her drama everywhere. She even told everyone she single handedly took me down by herself which is obviously bullshit. I looked at the end of the hallway to see Ashley and he asswipes next too Cain. Cain wrapped his arms around her and she sent a smirk my way. I let out a growl and turned the corner making my way to my next class.

I walked in my Economic class and made my way to the back. This class was a breeze. Since we took our finals early, we would just do whatever we want or just watch movies which I was okay with. I settled in the back as always and laid my head on the desk. Closing my eyes, I let out a sigh. Part of me was in anger and pain. The other part of me just wanted to cry out of frustration.

The seat next to me made a sound and I looked up to see it was Kaiden.

"Looks like we got the same classes," he smiled showing me his schedule. I looked at him to see we had every class together excepting the one before lunch which was history.

"You shouldn't be next to me," I huffed as I placed my head back down on the desk.

"I don't care what this school or town has against you. I'm just hoping to make a friend today," he chirped causing me to look back up at him.

Is he really serious?

I looked at him to see he looked serious. I shook my head, "Well, just remember I warned you," I stated. He nodded his head and gave a smile before sticking out his hand towards me.

"Name's Kaiden but some call me Kai for short," he greeted.

I shook his hand, "Name's Freya, also known to be the school's freak," I informed him.

"Nice to meet you Freya."

"Likewise Kai," I replied as we pulled our hands away. "So what brings you to this shit of a town?" I asked.

He shrugged, "Nothing really. I just moved here so I'm just getting settled."

"FREYA!" a familiar voice shouted causing me to quickly turn my attention to the doorway. I was it was Ethan with his backpack. I looked around the room to see people were looking at him. My teacher didn't even care to say anything. Ethan made his way to me and pulled up a chair to my desk.

"What are you doing here?" I asked in concerned since he was suppose to be in class.

He dropped his bag to the floor and looked at me before looking at Kai. "Ethan," I called causing him to look back at me.

"Right. My math teacher isn't here so I decided to come here. Who's shady?" he asked nodding towards Kai with the dark shades.

Kai let out a chuckle and shook his head. "Name's Kaiden. Kai for short," he stuck out his hand. Ethan shook it, "Ethan. You friend's or enemy with my sister?" Ethan bluntly asked causing me to roll my eyes. He's only 12 yet he would challenge those he doesn't approve off.

"Friends. I just moved here," Kai informed him.

Ethan's eyebrow rose, "Well, I suggest that you don't hang around my sister and I unless -"

"She already told me and I don't care," he spoke in a firm voice. Ethan shook his head then turned back to me with a serious look on his face. "You want to tell me what happened?" he asked examining my face as he leaned towards me.

I shook my head, "I tripped and fell on my face," I lied. He rolled his eyes, "Your lies can't get pass me so what happened? Everyone keeps whispering around and it's starting to annoy me more than usual." The look of annoyance took over his face.

Letting out a sigh I couldn't dare tell him what really happened. "It's nothing. Don't worry about it," I gave him a small smile. He glared at me one last time before pulling out his phone and typing something in. After a few seconds, his eyes widened and he looked back up to me.

"Are you serious?" he shouted in rage which was kind of scary since I've never seen my 12 year old brother that angry before. I'm guessing he found out what happened. "What?" I tried to play it off. He slide the phone across the desk and I saw it was a video. He tapped the play button and I looked to see it was a video of what happened in the bathroom. One of Ashley's hoes had recorded me.

How could I have not noticed?

I watched as I launched on to Ashley and started to punch her but then I was dragged off and a few seconds later, they were all jumping me. I wanted to just stop the video but I couldn't. The video finally ended and I looked at Ethan who was staring at me in sympathy.

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have pissed Cain off yesterday. If I hadn't, you wouldn't be in this mess and wouldn't be so hurt," he spoke in a low tone as if he was about to break down.

I grabbed his hand and held it, "Ethan, there's nothing on this Earth that could stop me from protecting you and you didn't piss Cain off. He's just stupid and deserved it," I gave him a small smile.

He shook his head, "But look at your face. You're badly hurt," he whined. "Nothing that can't be fixed," I reassured him.

"Why don't you tell the teachers or the principal?" Kai's voice came next to me. I turned and almost face palmed myself forgetting he was here. "This is Stone Brook high school. The teachers don't care nor the principal," I stated.

A look of shock took over him, "Seriously?"

Ethan and I both nodded. Kai then turned to Ethan, "You look a bit young to be in high school. How old are you?" he asked.

"12 and yes, I'm in the 9th grade. Skipped a few cause I'm smart as fu-" he stopped once he saw me glaring at him. "Fudge. I was going to say fudge," he defended.

I hummed in response, "Sure you were," I sarcastically replied.

"Wow, looks like I know who has the most brains between you too," Kai teased causing me to elbow him. He burst out laughing and so did Ethan. I couldn't help but smile at seeing Ethan laugh. It's been awhile since he laughed which was what he needed.

The bell soon rang and I decided to walk Ethan to his next class since Cain is in that class. Kai followed behind since he had class with Ethan. We stopped in front his class and I looked down at him with a smile. "Remember, if you feel uncomfortable or feel like something bad is about to happen, text or call me," I stated.

He tackled me with a hug and I almost screamed but his warmth somehow cloaked my body which made me feel a bit less in pain. I wrapped him in a hug and sigh. We then pulled away and I saw a huge smile on his face. "I'll be fine. Just take care of yourself until lunch," he stated. I ruffled his hair and he swatted my hand away before entering the class.

"What about me?" Kai asked next to me causing me to turn and look at him. I reached over and ruffled his hair causing him to roll his eyes. "I meant a hug," he huffed. I shook my head and shoved him towards the classroom, "You gotta earn it," I laughed as I turned on my heels and headed to my math class.

Although Ethan's teacher wasn't here, mine was sadly. Walking around the corner and down the hall, to my class. Walking in, I ignored everyone and made my way to the back as usual. Settling down, I couldn't help but wish this day was quickly over like every other day. I looked to the window to see it was still rain and the clouds were grey across the sky. Lightning flashed and thunder rolled. My teacher soon walked in and we started the lesson.

~~~~~~~~
Lunch time was soon to roll around and I quickly packed up my stuff getting ready to go for Ethan. The bell rang and I got up and ran for the door and ignored the pain that was in my ribs. I pushed my way through the crowded hallway only to pushed up against the locker.
I let out a painful groan as I hit the locker. Someone pinned me against the locker and I couldn't see who it was but could only hear some snickering. I turned my face to see people were now clearing the hallway. I was then turned around and my eyes landed on a evil smirk. It was Lenin. One of Cain's friend.
"Surprise," he chuckled. I rolled my eyes, "Look, I'm going to give you one chance to let me go," I hissed.
"Or what?" he challenged with a smirk.
Within a second, my knee lifted up to his family jewels and he released me along with releasing a painful groan. "Told you," I hissed before running towards Ethan's classroom. I turned the corner and I saw Kevin was holding Ethan but what shocked me a little was Kai head on with Cain.
"Don't get involve," Cain spat as he shoved Kai back a little. Kai's fist tightened in anger, "You're 18 years old picking on a 12 year old. How stupid are you?" Kai shouted back at him. I ran up to them and stood between them.
"Look, leave him out of this and released my brother," I demanded to Cain. He let out a sarcastic laugh, "No. You jumped Ashley and you two are freaks and for the new kid, he shouldn't stick his nose where it doesn't belong," Cain hissed through his teeth.
"They're not freaks!  What do you and this whole town have against them?" Kai shouted behind me in an angry voice causing me to jump a little. I was also shock he was defending Ethan and I.
I turned to look at Kevin with a glare. "Let him go," I demanded only causing him to have a wicked smile on his face. He shoved Ethan towards the lockers and I ran over to him. I ripped Kevin off Ethan and punched him in the face before kneeing him causing him to drop to the floor in pain.
I was soon turned around and slammed to the floor. I looked to see Cain had me pinned down. Within a second, he was soon ripped off me and tackled to the floor. Kai had tackled him and was currently on top him landing punches in his left rib and face. A hand held mine and helped me up. I looked to see it was Ethan.
"Are you okay?" he asked in a worried tone. I nodded my head, "Stay here," I spoke in a anger tone. I turned around and marched towards Cain ignoring the pain that was flowing through my body.
I grabbed Kai's shoulder, "Stop," I spoke in a low tone. He kept punching Cain in the face and Cain's defenses started to go down and his face was becoming bloody.
"Kai!" I shouted causing him to stop.
He looked at Cain with anger then stood up before walking over to Ethan. I looked at Cain who was on the floor looking at me. "I don't know whether to take this advantage to just break your bones or walk away," I stated. His eyes widened, "I'm sorry," he muffled out through the pain that was probably going through him.
I shook my head, "They're always sorry when they're at their weakest points. When they're the most vulnerable...Come near me or my brother again, I will make sure to break your fingers so you can't touch anyone else again," I hissed. He let out a sigh of relief that I didn't do anything.
Turning on my heels, I marched towards Ethan and Kai. Kai was certainly pissed off and Ethan just and a angry yet worried look. "Let's get lunch," I mumbled.
A hand grabbed me and I turned to see it was Kevin with a smirk. With anger, I grabbed him and slammed him across the locker. "When are you going to learn when you are defeated?" I hissed before landing a punch into his face. I let go of him causing him to slide to the floor.
I turned to see Kai staring at me in shock and Ethan with a sad look. We headed to the lunchroom in silence and I got a turkey sandwich and a water. Ethan and Kai decided to go with the hamburgers and water. We paid for our food and I headed out the cafeteria.
Walking through a pair of double doors, I held it open for Ethan and Kai. It was still rain outside but we sat in the stand where it was dry and shelter. Kai and Ethan sat at the top in the back and I decided to sit in the middle by myself and started to eat my food.
Cain should have suffer much more worst. I can't even protect Ethan in school. I am a horrible sister.
~~~~~~~~

Kai's POV

I sat down next to Ethan and saw Freya was taking a seat in the middle of the stand by herself. I stood up getting ready to sit next to her but a hand stopped me. I turned to see Ethan was shaking his head. "She needs some time," he stated. I nodded my head and sat back down. Freya unwrapped her sandwich and slowly ate it.

"Does this normally happen?" I asked Ethan not taking my eyes of Freya. "More than you'd know," he spoke with a bit sadness in his voice.

"How come you guys don't transfer then?" I asked.

"It's the same thing everywhere we go so we just gave up," I saw Ethan shrugged from the corner of my eyes.

"Where did she learn to fight like that?" I asked. Silence took its place between us and I turned to see Ethan narrowing his eyes towards me. "What?" I asked a bit taken back by his look.

He turned away and looked back at Freya. "You just ask a lot of question," he sound a bit annoyed now. I found it quite funny how he was only 12 yet act so mature. More mature than people I've met who are my own age.

"Well, I've never seen a girl fight like that before," I admitted. "Well," Ethan started off, "Ever since we moved into this town and people started to treat us bad, she learned how to fight especially since our parents don't even both to do anything," he mumbled the last part as if he was ashamed of his own parents. I couldn't help but feel sympathy for him because I was too once in his place.

Ethan let out a sigh next to me, "She thinks I'm endangered the longer we stay here," he spoke in a low tone. "And what do you think?" I asked turning to look at him.

He then slowly turned to look at me, "We're all in danger the longer we stay here. You shouldn't have gotten involved with my sister or I. I know Cain was going to punch me but you shouldn't intrude. You should of let it happen. Now that you have side yourself with us, you will be treated the same way we are," he stated.

I shook my head, "I told you I don't care and I would stand up for you and Freya. No one deserves to be treated like that and I'm pretty sure that Cain guy wouldn't bother you guys again."

He let out a sigh before looking back at Freya who was now just walking around the field with her hoodie on her head. I could sense she was a bit angry considering the pace she was walking and she had her hands shoved in her hoodie pocket.

"You don't get it. Cain is not the only one we have to worry about," his words came out as if he knew danger was coming.

What can honestly be worst than Cain?
