Sam POV
"Mom! I'm gonna go now!" I called out to Mom as I ran to the door.
"Okay, honey. We'll be there. Tell Chase to be careful while driving!" she shouted back.
"Got it! Bye!"
I walked out the door and saw Dad.
"Hey there kiddo."
"I'm going now, Dad. Hurry up, okay?" I told him and kissed his cheek.
"Okay. Take care!"
I hopped in Chase's car and he kissed me. He pulled away after a moment.
"You ready?" he asked me.
I nodded.
Chase started the engine as we drove off to school for graduation. Chase and I decided to go there first because our Moms take too much time preparing themselves and we didn't want to be late. I was slightly nervous because I was the valedictorian and I had to give my graduation speech.
When we got to school, Chase and I separated to go to our friends. He went to talk to his friends from the team while I searched the crowd for Amber and Rose.
Finally, I found them. Who wouldn't find Rose? Everyone was staring at her because she and Alex were dry humping in the middle. Her arms were wrapped around Alex's neck while her legs were locked around his waist. Alex's hands were cupping her butt as they grinded on each other.
I walked to Amber.
"Isn't this awkward and embarrassing?" I asked her.
"Yes but tthey just made up. So as much as I hate their PDA, I don't have the heart to stop them. Leet them have their moment. You know how broken Rose was when she and Alex fought."
I thought about it. She's right. Rose was really broken even though she tried not to show it. So I just ignored them.
"You ready, babe?" Amber asked me.
"Yup but nervous." I told her as I took a deep breath.
"Don't worry, I'm sure you'll nail your speech."
"Thanks." I hugged her, realizing we're going to separate ways for College.
"Where are your parents?" I asked her.
"They have to pick up my sister but they said they'll follow."
I nodded.
After a while, we were told to take our seats. I received my diploma along with the other seniors. I was called to give my speech. I walked to the stage. I searched the crowd and saw my parents. I gave them a smile then stared at Chase. He gave me a smile and a thumbs up.
"I was supposed to read this long speech of mine that I wrote for weeks." I started and showed them the paper which contained my speech. "But right now, I'm thinking, 'what the hell?'" I paused and tear off the paper. The audience chuckled. "I spent my high school life planning everything. So at least, this speech I'm giving isn't planned."
I gave my speech, just saying what's on my mind. I thanked my family, friends and Chase. The whole point of my speech was, we only had a few months before going to college. We should make the most of it because I knew that college is totally different from high school. We're only young once so we should live our lives before we go off to college.
That day, I came home and Chase was in my room and then he gave me a promise ring.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
8 years later (Sam-24 years old, Chase-26 years old)
"Baby, have you called your parents yet?" I asked Chase.
"Yes princess. They'll be here any minute now." he answered me.
"Mommy! Daddy!" a little voice shrieked.
I looked at my twins running to Chase and me. I opened my arms and my little girl, Candice Nathalie, ran to my arms while my son, Seth Nicholas, ran to his father's arms.
"What's up, kiddo?" I asked her.
"Seth pulled my hair!" Candice tattled.
Seth just laughed in response.
"Just apologize to your sister, Seth." Chase told him while rubbing his back.
"Fine. Sorry Candice." Seth smiled. He looked a lot like his father. They were really close too. Every Sunday, he and Chase would watch football. Chase was playing in the country's most popular football team as his profession and I became known as an author of best-selling novels. We got married after college and after a year, I gave birth to my twins. Candice looked like me. But she got Chase's eye color. She was very girly but quite shy. Chase was just like his father, loud and happy-go-lucky.
I love them so much. We were preparing that day for our twins' 3rd birthday. We invited all our friends and family. We were having a party in our house.
After half an hour, the guests were arriving. My family was there. Chase's parents were also there with Eleanor and his Mom's new husband. Jake and his girlfriend were there. Amber and her husband, Matt brought their son, Nathan, who was Seth's best friend. Alex, Rose and their daughter, Jamie, who was Candice's playmate, were also there.
Soon, Seth and Candice blew their candles and everyone was having fun. There was music and every couple was dancing.
Our song came up and Chase asked me to dance.
I put my hands on his shoulder and Chase put his hands on my waist.
"This moment reminds me of our prom." I told him.
"Yeah, only now, we're older and wiser."
"And much happier."
He smiled in agreement. He wrapped his arms around me. I wrapeed my arms around his neck.
"I love you, Chase." I told him.
"I love you more, Sam."
With those words, we kissed.
Funny how things changed in our last year. We went from being best friends to being a couple. I even had an accident and forgot who Chase was. But in the end, fate still led us together. I would never regret what happened in the past. Some of our actions had been pretty stupid but it only made our bond stronger.
Falling for Chase wasn't the easiest thing I've done. Loving him caused so much pain. But what can I say? I couldn't choose who I'd fall in love with.
And maybe, just maybe, falling for my best friend, the player, was the best thing I've done.
