(Third Person POV)
"Aw~! Do you really have to go?" yet again Luffy had his arms wrapped around Shaw's torso & wasn't planning on letting go & everyone, besides Robin, Volpina & Chopper were trying to get him off
"Luffy, can you not repeat what you did 7 years ago? Its kinda old right now."
"I don't want you to go though!" he whined
"Luffy let him go for gods sake!"
"Let him go you idiot!" he ruffles his head & he looked up at Shaw with a pout, he sighed this time & easily unwrapped Luffy's arms from him & let go, resulting in him slamming into the others
"Ow! That hurt!"
"Shaw!" he shrugged, Luffy sat on the ground with his arms & legs crossed & glared at Shaw, he rolled his eyes & crouched down
"Oh stop acting like your 7 again."
"But I want you to join my crew Shaw!" he sighed again & placed his hand on Luffy's head "I don't want you to go…"
"Luffy, don't be sad! We'll see each other again, you just gotta wait! Besides, someone even better than me might join your crew."
"Someone better than you?! Who?!" he shrugged
"You never know until the future kiddo!" he pouted but smiled & hugged Shaw
"See you later?" he nodded
"Of course."
(Time Skip)
Its been awhile since Shaw left the straw hat pirates, but before he did they all took a group photo! Shaw was on a winter island & was staring at that fight, he then compared it to the one he took with the Whitebeard pirates & smiled
"I already miss him."
"Boss-sama, its only been a few hours." he shrugs
"Feels like days…" she sighed
"Well, the only person I'm gonna miss is Chopper-sama, he's so adorable for a reindeer!" he chuckled, he was sitting under a tree & once he stood up, all the snow that was coated on, him fell off. He brushed the rest of it off & out of his hair before walking off
He always loved snow, it was beautiful & peaceful, that's why winter was his favorite season. He smiled under the snow until he heard footsteps running towards him, he turns around only to be tackled down
"What the?!"
"Shawn-kun!"
"Koala?!" Volpina jumped off his neck & watched as Shaw's face grew a light red, she had her arms wrapped around his neck as his were placed on her hips
"I thought it was you & I knew it was too!" she got off him & helped him up
"A hello would have been easier." she giggled
"Sorry!"
"No your not." she laughed this time, Volpina jumped back onto his shoulder again & fell asleep as the duo walked around, it had gotten colder suddenly so out of instinct Shaw got closer & wrapped an arm around her
"So why are you here, Shawn-kun?"
"Well, I recently just left my brothers crew."
"Oh? Which one?"
"Luffy, the youngest."
"You mean Straw Hat Luffy?" he nodded "I heard he shot through the roof after going against the World Government!"
"Mm-hmm, he's my little brother!" the two had accidentally walked into the forest & found themselves at a frozen lake, it seemed to have shimmered in the light
"Do you know how to shake?"
"Huh?"
"Skate! Ice skate!"
"Oh I'm not sure, maybe?" Koala had practically begged him to ice skate with her so he reluctantly changed their shoes into ice skates & they went onto the ice "What if the ice breaks & I fall in?"
"Then I'll jump in & save you!"
"But the water is freezing!"
"So?" he sighed, there was no use in arguing with her, she was to determined right now. As the two skated around for awhile, they linked hands, they were resistant but eventually their hands were locked together
"I always liked snow."
"Really?" he nodded
"When I was growing up, I had very strict parents. I wasn't allowed outside until my homework was finished, that kind of stuff. So when I was 8 & when I ran away, I admired the littlest things. The sun, the snow, hell even rain. I finally had the taste of freedom, but what made it better was being with my brothers." she smiled
"That sounds so nice Shawn-kun. The one true friend I had was a fishman, his name was Fisher Tiger (is that it?). He helped me get home when I was… when I was…"
"… you don't have to tell me, if you don't want to." she shook her head
"No no, I was taken from my home & he brought me back, he was a wanted criminal as well so in the end… he was killed." she soon started started tearing up
"Oh Koala, I–I'm sorry, I didn't mean…"
"Its alright!" she wiped her tears away & grinned at Shaw "I got over it 10 years ago!"
"How old were you?"
"Hmm… I think 11! Hey now let's forget about it & enjoy this!" she cheered as she grabbed both his hands & the two spun in circles. Volpina watched from where she was how happy Koala looked being around him, he looked just as happy as she was & that was a true smile
He only ever smiles like that is when jes with the Whitebeard Pirates, the Straw Hat Pirates or with Ace & Luffy. Sure he gets giddy when he's around women but… this is different. It seemed like hours when the skates turned back into their shoes so the two fell over
They laughed as they looked at each other, Shaw had safely gotten up without falling over, he helped her up but she accidentally stumbled forward but he caught her. The two look at each & they both blushed, she pushed herself up with one hand on her hip & the other on his chest
"U–Uh… thank you, Shawn-kun! Thank you for, c–catching me…"
"No p–problem at all, my little angel~" she sighed with a laugh as the two got off the ice, unfortunately the ice broke underneath Shaw & he fell in
"I really hoped you forgot that… nickname? Shawn-kun? Shawn?! Where did you go?!" she finally noticed the broken ice & looked to only see Shaw sinking "Shawn!" without thinking she threw her jacket off & jumped in after him
He was sinking fast as he tried to swim up, but no avail. He was slowly running out of breath when Koala grabbed onto him & started swimming up, man was he heavy cause she had a pretty hard time swimming back up. She finally made it up when she threw him up & climbed out after
"Shawn! Are you okay?!" he was shuddering & breathing heavily, he hugged himself as he tried to keep himself warm so Koala came over & out her dry coat around him, Volpina turned into her fox/eagle form & wrapped around them
"T–T–Told you i–it'd bre-e-eak!"
"Shut up!!" Shaw had grown into his normal height & Koala marvelled at how tall he was, & figured out that that was the reason why he was so heavy
"I–I–I–I als–so told you i–it was freezin–ng!" she rolled her eyes & held onto him, he weakly wrapped his arms around her as he felt the warmth around him "S–So… warm, K–K–Koala."
"I know, now we gotta go somewhere warmer!" she holed him onto Volpina's back before jumping on herself, she flew back into the town & they ran into lodge & right up to the fireplace
"M–Much better! But I'd still p–prefer you."
"Whatever!" she growled but couldn't force the smile away that creeped into her face
(yah know what? I was reading a few one piece x reader stories when I noticed that they said Edward was the last name. So now I'm confused, is Whitebeard's last name Edward or Newgate?)
