Chapter 53: Reunion
DESIREE'S POV
“DESIREE!” Ash yelled from downstairs. I came downstairs with Jackson in my arms.
“Mhmm?”
“Phone” Ash said, handing the phone to me.
“Who is it?” He just shrugged and I rolled my eyes, taking the phone. “Hello?”
“DESIIIII” Someone squealed.
“Ummmm… who is this?”
“ITS JADE! FROM HIGH SCHOOL?”
JADE!” I yelled. “How you been! And… how did you get my number?”
“I called your mom” She said sounding proud.
“Oh”
“Yea! You coming to the 5 year reunion for our high school?”
“Oh shit umm… I don’t know if I can make it.”
“Whyyyy?” She whined.
“I have a family now Jade”
“OMFG YOU DO?!?!”
“Yea, a husband and 4 kids”
“OH MY GOD! AWESOME!”
“Sometimes” I said with a smirk. “Anyway, I’ll talk to my husband about it and I’ll call you back… Okay?”
“Alright, bye”
“Bye” I said hanging up.
“What can’t you go to?”
“Oh… high school reunion”
“And why exactly can’t you go?”
“Well, whos gonna watch the kids?”
“Hmmm Jake, parents, Jinxx and Sammi, Andy, CC, must I go on?”
“Ok I get that but, I’m sure you don’t wanna go”
“I’d love to, it doesn’t matter to me”
“Really?”
“Yea, whatever you want babe” He said hugging me and kissing the top of my head.
“Alright, I guess I’ll go”
“There we go” He said with a smile and kissed me. He let me go and I called Jade back.
“Hey Jade, I’ll go”
“AWESOME! Its at the school”
“Alright, when?”
“2 weeks!”
“Alright, you’ll be there?”
“Hell yea! I’m bringing my boyfriend”
“Cool, I’m bringing my husband.”
“YAY! CAN’T WAIT TO MEET HIM!”
“You to” I then heard one of the babies start crying. “Shit, one of the babies are crying, Jade I-”
“I got it” Ashley said running past me, up the stairs.
“Alright, hes got it” I said walking to the living room. Jade and I talked for a while until she had to go. I dialed Jake’s number and called him.
“Hey Des, whats up?”
“Wanna go to my high school reunion with me?”
“Des I-I don’t kn-”
“Cmon please!”
“Fine”
“THANK YOU!!!!!”
“Shit, babies crying, Ella’s asleep, gotta go”
“K bro, love you”
“Luv ya” He said as he hung up.

“What are you gonna do with Desiree?” I asked Jake when I called him the day before the reunion.
“Ella doesn’t wanna go, shes staying with Des”
“Do you think she could watch Maria?”
“Um hold on” I heard him ask Ella then he went back to me.
“Sure”
“Thanks, I’ll see if mom and dad can take care of the triplets”
“Yea”
“ok, well, I’ma ask them now, bye!”
“Bye!” He said and I called my parents.
“Hi Desiree”
“Hi mom, look, my old high school friend invited me to the reunion so… could you watch the triplets?”
“Sure”
“Thanks, love you”
“Love you, bye”

The next day I was doing my hair after I got dressed. I was wearing black skinny jeans a Black Veil Brides shirt. I had on black boots and my hair was flat. I put on black eyeliner and black eyeshadow and a nude lipstick. I added a black bow to my hair and I looked perfect. Ashley had on a gray Motley Crue shirt and his hair was flat ironed. He had on a thin line of eyeliner, lining his eyes and black skinny jeans. He had on black cowboy boots as well. I took Maria over to Jake’s and Jake climbed in the car. I drove to our parents and dropped off the triplets then I drove the little way to the school. I slowly got out and Ash put his arm around me.
“You ok?” I nodded. Jake went to my other side and they both walked me in. I walked over and got a name tag.
“Has Jade Evans checked in yet?” I asked the person at the table. They just nodded towards a girl with turquoise hair. I walked over, gripping Ash’s hand. “Jade?” I tapped her shoulder. She turned around and her jaw dropped.
“DESIREE!” She yelled, hugging me as I let go of Ashley’s hand.
“JADE!” I yelled back and hugged her.
“You look great!” She exclaimed.
“Thanks! You remember Jake right?”
“Of course! Hi Jake!”
“Hey Jade” He said with a small smile and a wave.
“WHERES YOUR HUSBAND?!” She yelled and I pointed to Ash.
“HIM?!” I just nodded. “Hes cute” She whispered with a giggle.
“Hey hey hey girly, paws off. Hes mine” I said with a smile.
“I know girl, I’m just kidding, whats your name?”
“Ashley”
“Ooh I love it, love your shirt, both of you. Des, you’re a Black Veil Brides fan?”
“Huge” I said with a smile.
“Oooh I love that band”
“Whos your favorite?” Ashley asked.
“Ummm hmm that’s hard…. Definatley Mista Purdyyyy” I looked at Ash and he had a smug smile. “Jakes pretty damn awesome to” I saw the same smug smile on Jake’s face. “Andys fucking hot…. CC’s just… crazy awesome umm and Jinxx seems like a real sweetie pie!”
“Oh he is!”
“You met them?!”
“Mhmm”
“Oh my God! Lucky!” She then caught sight of my name tag and her jaw dropped. “Wait… Desiree Purdy… Desiree Pitts… Jake Pitts… Ashley Purdy…BITCH!” She yelled, slapping my arm. “HOW COME YOU NEVER TOLD ME YOUR BROTHER WAS JAKE FUCKING PITTS!”
“He wasn’t in the band when I was in high school.” I said with a shrug.
“You could’ve at least told me Ashley fucking Purdy was your husband. I mean I knew he was married and had kids just… you look different from the last time I saw you… that must be why I didn’t recognize you.”
“I guess”
“So Jake, I heard you have a wife and daughter?”
“Mhmm” He said, swallowing some punch.
“Dawwwwwwwwwwwww BVB Boys are growing uppp”
“Shuddup” Ashley said with a smile, handing me some punch.
“Oh shit, is Ryan here?”
“I think…”
“FUCKKKK!”
“What?”
“He gave me problems like… the day after my wedding”
“That asshole”
“Yea, just hoping he doesn’t-”
“HEY DES!”
“Shit” I cursed under my breath.
“What you doing here? Emo.”
“Hanging out with my friend, what are you doing here, lay a hand on me and you can say goodbye to your ‘manhood’ ”
“Maybe you should just leave Emo”
“Maybe you should leave jerk!” I yelled and splashed punch on him.
“That was a bad choice… fag” He said and punched me in the face. Since he caught me off guard, I was sent flying to the ground and blacked out. When I came to, Ash and Jake were on top of Ryan, trying their best to beat him up and not get killed. Ryan pushed the 2 off and came over to me. He sent a few more punches to my face and I blacked out again.
ASHLEY’S POV
When Ryan attacked Desi a 2nd time I ran over to help her and he got taken out and Desi got taken on an ambulance. I rode in it with her and silent tears were rolling down my cheeks the whole time. We got to the hospital and they rushed Desiree back. I waited in the waiting room and just cried into my hands. Jake rushed in shortly after and sat next to me.
“Ashley, it’ll be ok”
“I-I know” I cried and he rubbed my back “I-I just love her so much”
“I know, me to.”
“Mr. Purdy” I shot up and walked over to him. “Your wife took some hard hits but odds are she’ll survive. At the moment shes in a coma.”
“A C-Coma?”
“Yes sir”
“Oh my God, can I see her?”
“Sure heres her room number”
“Can I see her?” Jake asked.
“Are you family?”
“I’m her brother.”
“Alright” He said and we sprinted down the hall.
“Wanna go in alone?” He asked me and I just nodded, staring at the name plate.

Fight
I wiped a few tears away and turned the handle on the door. I slowly opened it and stepped inside. I closed the door and slowly turned around to see Desiree laying on the bed. She was so pale, hair so limp, blood caked scabs, bandages and a broken nose. Even with all this, she looked absolutely beautiful. I sat next to her bed and let a few tears drop. I grabbed her hand which had a needle in it. I squeezed her hand and brought it close to my face. I kissed it and let a few more tears fall.
“I love you Desiree, I know you’ll be alright. You have to be, your wonderful, beautiful, awesome, amazing-” I said but got cut off by tears. “I love you so fucking much Desiree fucking Purdy” I cried. I let go of her hand and just sat there and cried. I went over to the door when I calmed down a little and went outside while Jake went in. I just slid down the wall and sobbed. 5 minutes later, Jake came out, sniffling, eyes red. He put an arm around me and I just cried into his shoulder.
“I love her so fucking much Jake” I sobbed.
“I know Ash, so do I.” I got up about 5 minutes later and walked back in. I sat in a chair in the room that was also a recliner and kept crying. “Ash, I’m gonna go home” Jake said a little later.
“Alright, don’t release everything yet, just… if you can continue taking care of Maria that’d be great and if your parents can keep taking care of the triplets that’ll be great. If not, try to find someone else that can.”
“Will do Ash, call if you need something”
“Alright” I said as he walked out. I cried some more and talked to Desiree some more until I fell asleep. The next day I called Jake.
“Jake”
“Whats up?”
“Can you tell my parents and your parents to come?”
“Sure thing” He said and hung up. Within 10 minutes my parents were here and my mom rushed over to me.
“Ashley, you ok?” She asked, out of breath.
“I’m fine” I said, forcing a smile.
“Ashley…” I just shook my head. “What happend”
“Its D-Desiree” I stuttered, trying to hold back my tears.
“What happened?” My dad asked.
“She got beat up by her ex and put into a coma”
“Oh my God” My mom said covering her mouth. I just nodded and led them through to her room. They walked in and walked over to her. I sat on the chair, head in hands. I just started sobbing uncontrollably. I felt a hand rub my back and then someone hugged me. I looked over and it was my mom who had hug me, my dad who had rubbed my back. “Ashley, it’ll be ok” My mom assured me.
“I know” I said, trying my best to stop crying. Then I heard a knock on the door. I opened it to find Desiree’s parents. I let them in and they rushed over to her. I just stood there, leaning against the wall, trying to hold my tears bacl.
“What happened?” Her mom asked.
“Jake, her and I went to her high school reunion and her ex, Ryan, beat her up because she spilled punch on him cause he was a jerk. We stepped in but she got the worst of it. Mostly because we avoided his punches, she was caught off guard.”
“Oh my god” Her mom whispered. I just nodded and then ran out of the room. I slid against the wall and just cried.
“Ashley?” I looked up and it was Desiree’s dad. “Ashley, I just wanna say thank you for everything, thank you for always protecting her and thank you for loving her Ashley, you’re a good man.”
“Thank you sir” I said, trying to stop crying. “Sorry about this, I can’t seem to stop.”
“It’s fine, it shows that you care and that means a lot to me”
“Thank you”
“No thank you, I’m proud to call you my son-in-law.”
“I’m honored to call you dad” I said with a smile and he just smiled back.
“Thanks Ashley”
“No problem” I said.
“Gimmie a hug” He said, opening his arms and I hugged him. We released and walked back in which caused me to break down into tears again. Would this ever stop!?!
DESIREE’S POV
I woke up and saw Ashley, asleep on a chair. He was wearing the same clothes from the night of the reunion. I looked around and saw nothing but white. I had all these wires attached to me and I had on a hospital gown. I sat up and my face hurt like hell. My hands went to my nose which was bandaged. I heard Ashley groan and he streatched. He sat up and blinked a few times. He looked at me and his eyes got wide. He rubbed his eyes, blinked some more and realized this was for real. He ran over to me and hugged me real tight.
“OH MY GOD DESIREE YOUR ALIVE!” He screamed and kissed me, being careful of my nose.
“Of course I am, why am I here?”
“You were in a coma.”
“F-For how long?”
“A week”
“A-A week?” He just nodded. “Why are you still wearing the same clothes?”
“I haven’t left the hospital since you entered. I didn’t even leave to get food.”
“Did you eat at all?”
“No! I was to damn worried! I didn’t want my favorite girl to die” He said and kissed me again. “I love you Desiree, I really do, I couldn’t stop crying, this whole week” He said as a tear rolled down his cheek.
“I love you to Ash” I said, wiping the tear away. “Does anyone else know?”
“Your parents, my parents, Jake of course and BVB.”
“Oh”
“Yea, I love you so fucking much!”
“I know! I love you to! You can stop saying that now” I said with a chuckle.
“No I can’t. I am so glad your in my life” He said kissing me again and I just stifled a laugh. He’s being so sweet! The doctor came in and released me.
“What’d you do with the kids?” I asked as we entered the house.
“Marias with Jake and the triplets are with your parents.”
ASHLEY'S POV
“Oh ok, Ash, the hospital gave me some medicine that made me really really realllyyyy sl-sle-sle” She tried to say but fell over. The doctor gave her some pain medicine and that put her to sleep. I caught her before she fell and picked her up bridal style. “I’m really sleepy” She mumbled.
“I’ma put you in bed right now” I said, walking up the stairs. I layed her in bed and slowly backed out of the room.
“Ash, s-sleep wi-with m-me” She mumbled and I closed the door, walking over to her. I climbed in next to her and wrapped my arms around her.
“Love you Desiree” I said as she drifted off to sleep and so did I shortly after. I love her with all my heart.
