Harmony's POV
I stood in front of the warehouse housing Helms and god knows what creations he held inside and took a deep breath.
This is it. This is where I plan to end it.
I gripped the knob and pushed the door open.
The creak of the old hinges echoed throughout the quiet warehouse.
I hesitated before gripping my gun in both hands and walked into the quiet room cautiously.
Large dusty old boxes piled high to the ceiling creating a kind of maze.
Again I hesitated before making my way through the boxes keeping a cautious finger on the trigger of my gun and keeping my sense heightened for any sound or change in the room.
The room was eerily quiet and the anxiety of my expectations for the undead to be waiting around every corner only worsened that feeling.
I have no idea how I’m going to kill Helms and make sure he’s dead, I just have to end it.
I turned around a corner and nearly walked into a closed door.
I hesitated before opening it slowly and peaking in.
The door led into a large empty room.
When nothing came jumping out, I pushed open the door and stepped.
"It’s about the time you got here."
I jumped at the voice and looked around then stopped when I saw movement in the far corner of the room.
The shadows laced the figure as they stepped out of the darkened corner and as the shadows slipped away I came face to face with Dr. Robert Helms' smug face.
"You’ve kept me waiting Harmony. I would’ve thought someone like you could have found me much faster." he said.
I glared at him then raised my gun. "Dr. Robert Helms, for your crimes against humanity and supernatural beings you have been condemned to death by my hand. Prepare to pay the ultimate price for your crimes."
He chuckled. "So formal, have we not gotten passed that? I’m more than a target your little organization assigned for you to kill. Aren’t I?" he asked smugly.
I glared. "As if it matters." I said then pulled the trigger of my gun and sent a bullet at his head.
He moved to the side and the bullet landed into the concrete wall behind him.
"Well that was rude."
"Enough of your games! I’m here to kill you and you act like were old friends playing around. Why don’t you fight back?"
He smirked. "Why would I kill my servant?"
I grinded my teeth and began firing but he managed to avoid every shot.
"Now now, don’t want to attract my children do you?" he mocked standing back up straight.
"Is that what you call them? You’re sick." I said disgusted.
"Perhaps in your eyes. What do you call them?"
"I call them the poor unfortunate souls that I will avenge." I said then raised my gun again.
"Haven’t you figured out human technology won’t work on a centuries old vampire?"
I glared at him. "Fine." I put my gun back into its case on my belt.
Let’s hope I remember something useful.
Stop! If you use anymore magic you’ll be driving yourself farther from your wolf self and fall to your witch and become easy prey to the curses insanity! My inner wolf cried.
I realize this but if I don’t do something then Helms will kill me. I can’t even shift.
If you’d only accepted my ma--
Not a good time.
"Are you having an inner conflict with yourself? I always found that to be a werewolf’s most idiotic trait. What’s the point of that stupid inner wolf if all you do is bicker?" Helms asked.
I growled lowly at him.
I’m sorry.
"Ignis!"
A small flame began at Helms' feet and he looked at it curiously as it began to slowly grow then exploded into a fire that engulfed him.
Good you killed him now please stop! My wolf cried in anguish.
I can’t.
I know this hurts my inner wolf. Using witch magic is like evicting my wolf spirit from my body if it refuses to go dormant.
Helms stepped out of the flames with only his lab coat scorched which he didn’t seem to notice.
"A witch flame? Honestly? And one that they train young witches with too. Is that the best you can do?" he asked, in an unamused tone.
With fire, probably. God how I wished I could shift. Vampires and werewolves are inevitable enemies. Some people believe the werewolf was even created to bring about the end of the vampire species and other believe vampires were created to end the werewolf species.
"Come now Harmony I’ve seen you use stronger magic then that." a familiar voice said almost sternly.
I felt my eyes widen and I looked around. "What the hell are you doing here?!"
Movement in the shadows behind Helms caught my eye and I faced it.
She came walking out of the darkness slowly with a wide, smug grin on her face.
A growl rumbled from my chest and I narrowed my eyes.
She just grinned. "Oh someone seems angry."
"Yes they do." Helms mocked.
"What they hell are you doing with him Marissa?!" I snapped angrily.
She just smirked her smug lips and shook her head. "Oh naive little Harmony, you don’t seem to understand what rejection and heartbreak can do to a sensitive girl like me." she put her hand over her heart and gave a look of innocence.
I growled. "You never loved Archer, you gullible psychopath! You teamed up with a mass murderer and psychotic scientist to get revenge on me when I had nothing to do with Archer leaving you?"
She growled. "You had everything to do with him leaving me! Everything was perfect until you came back and stole him from me! But the truth is what you think is his love is only his guilt! We would’ve been happy together but you ruined everything!" she was balling her fists angrily now.
"There is nothing romantic going on between me and Archer--" I began to defend.
"Please none of this girly drama." Helms sighed.
I growled again. "Then tell me what you want from me! You knew I was coming here to hunt you down and did nothing to prevent it."
He smirked again. "Because you’re my bitch."
I sped in front of him and swung my fist at his head. He moved his head to dodge but I slammed my other fist into his chin. "I’m no one’s bitch!"
He gripped my wrist and yanked. I felt a rush of cool air and then pain as my back slammed into the cold, concrete ground. I heard a frightened squeal from Marissa as I hit the ground so hard my vision flashed white.
Hot anger coursed through me and I jumped back up to my feet with a growl then lunged at Helms again. He raised his arm to block my punch and whacked my fist away. As my body continued forward, I spun around raised my leg to kick him but he again deflected my attack. I went in for another strike but before I could, a brown mass of growling fur slammed into me, tackling me to the ground.
I tumbled with the growling wolf I could only assume to be Marissa.
We tumbled along the floor as she snapped her jaw at me and I kept her fangs at bay by pushing on her throat but my claws dug into my arms.
Damn it I need my wolf! How do I turn again? You just turn right? Wait no it’s not that easy. Then what do I do? I’ve always just turned with little to no thought but it’s been so long. Damn it!
Keeping my focus on the wolf attacking me, I began searching within myself for the answer to transforming into a wolf but Marissa's vicious growls and biting attempts seemed more important to my frazzled mind and I couldn’t focus fully.
Panic flashed through me. I’m a werewolf without the ability to transform and I’m being attacked by a werewolf and a vampire with a gun that is useless against supernaturals.
Oh god I’m screwed!
