Oak got to our house first. He thundered towards me. "Hey squirt!" My original fear of him was lost long ago. He scooped me up in a huge hug. "Happy birthday!"
One by one, each person I invited showed up.
All but one.

The girl sits next to me. She says things, but I don't register.

We're getting a cab.

We're at my apartment.
Suddenly, she's kissing me.

He's late.
One hour.
I sit on the front porch.
Two hours.
I pretend to enjoy a game.
Three hours.
I open presents, and we pass out cake.
Four hours.
He's late.
Five hours.
Everyone has left.
Six hours.
I'm crying on the porch, Daveed tells me to go to bed.
Seven hours.
I'm crying myself to sleep.
He didn't come.

I wake up, a blonde girl I don't know, in my bed. I suddenly realized what I did, and I start yelling. "Get out! Get out!"
She's gone.
I get dressed and check the time.
4:25 am.
Shit.
I missed Jubilee's party!
Get in my car, and drive as fast as the law will allow me to her house. I knock on the door. Daveed answers it. He's so angry.

I sit up in bed, my eyes stiff from crying. I glance at the clock, and see that its 4:45 am.
I hear someone yelling.
I get up, and see the light from the living room.
I head down the stairs.
