"What yo ass on tonight?" Slim asked as we made our way through the crowded halls
"Shit besides check on the trap none. Why what y'all on?" I asked
Yeah Slim and Spade know what I do shit they my partners in this shit
"There's a little kickback in the Bronx I'm trying to check out you down?"
"Shit why not" I said walking in to Trigonometry.
I took my seat waiting for this retarded teacher to get started
Graduation was 5 months away and best believe a nigga was more than ready to get out of here and start playing college ball
Once I graduate I'll be one step closer to making my dream of playing pro ball a reality.
As I was taking notes I couldn't help but to think back to two weeks ago. I can't believe shorty ass left before a nigga woke up didn't even leave her number or anything. I honestly wanted to chill with her ass some more since I was feeling her vibe but shit guess it ain't meant to be
I mean shorty ass probably one of them bitches who only chills with people from the same background as her .
After a couple more note taking the bell rung and it was time for practice.
Practice was like a stress reliever for me besides smoking weed.
When I'm on that court it's like all my worries leave my body.
Walking to the locker room I quickly changed into my uniform getting myself ready.
Tomorrow was Saturday and we didn't have a game or practice so I was going to be able to enjoy myself tonight and sleep good ass hell tomorrow.
Walking into the gym we walked straight to the coach.
"Give me 30 suicides" Coach said making us groan that's one thing I hated was them damn suicides.
We all got in position and started doing them. I was trying get them done as fast as possible.
Finally finishing our last one we all collapsed on the gym floor tryna to catch our breath
"Man this shit is too damn much for my skinny ass" Spade said acting like he was dying
"Good job team. Now practice your lay ups" he said tossing us the ball.
After 4 hours of the intense practice I was ready to get out of here and head home.
"See you at the kickback nigga?" Spade asked dappin me up
"Yeah nigga"
I dapped the rest of them up before heading home.
Once I made it home I seen my moms was here too.
I walked in to the smell of my favorite food Pollo Guisado (Braised Chicken)
I walked into the kitchen seeing my mom slaving over the stove while my sister cut up vegetables.
"Hola mama" I said giving her a kiss on the cheek
Seeing that my mother is Dominican we speak Spanish from time to time. Shit a nigga can only say some shit in Spanish but can understand it fully since my grandmothers and them talk it.
"Hola mijo como te fue en la escuela?" (How was school)
"It was ight practice killed me though" I said stealing a piece of chicken out the pot
"Boy if you do not get out of this kitchen trying to eat all the chicken before dinner" My mom laughed trying to push me out but I took a seat at the table instead.
"What's up lil bit?" I asked my sister
"Nothing tired from practice as well"
"Couch Howard gave ya'll hell?"
"Hell yeah have my legs hurting" She pouted
My sister was a basketball player as well so if anyone understood me when I say I was given hell it was her.
"Well Ima go get ready I'm heading out to a party" I said getting up from my seat
"You mean that kickback in the Bronx?"
"Don't even think about going Heaven" I said in a stern voice
"Boy I'm going and I'm inviting Goddess" She waved me off
"Show up and see what happens" I said before I made my way out heading towards my room
I looked at my phone to see all these hoes asking me if I was sliding so no doubt a nigga was about to get himself some
I checked the time and it was 7 the party didn't start until 9 I never showed up on time so I had time for a quick nap before I had to get ready.
I dropped my bag on the floor taking off my hoodie before jumping on the bed getting comfortable dozing off.
I finally woke up from my nap around 9.
I hopped in the shower doing what I needed to do.
Walking back into my room I went into my closet seeing what I was about to wear. I picked random shit out and threw it on. Looking in the mirror I was ready for tonight.
I walked out of my room seeing moms was out and Heaven was no where to be found. He ass better not have gone to the party.
I walked to the living room seeing my little brother Tonio playing the game
"Aye lil nigga ain't it pass yo bed time?" I asked while messing up his little fro
"Man Day you know its Friday so I have no bed time" He mugged me making me laugh
"Whatever yo ass say. you seen Heaven?"
"Yeah she left with this bad ass chick Day you should have seen her if only I was a couple years older"
"Nigga you know yo ass ain't ever getting play witcho ugly ass"
"If I'm ugly why she say I'm her boyfriend then?" He smiled widely at me
"Man I'm gone ight stay out of trouble" I patted his head making my way out the apartment
I got in my car heading to the party.
After 30 minutes I pulled up to the house. It was packed asl so I knew it was gonna be bussin
I parked my car getting out.
"Hey Dave" This lil broad rubbed my chest stopping me on my way in
"Wassup"
"How about I show you in the bathroom?" She whispered in my ear
"I'll meet you there later ight" I said and she nodded
Walking all the way in I spotted my niggas Slim and Spade standing next to the beautiful Goddess
I couldn't help but stare at her attire as I walked closer to them
That girl was blessed and she knew it.
But what got me the most was that for her to be from the background she from she has no shame hanging with people from the projects.
"Wad up nigga ain't think yo ass was gonna show" Slim said as he dapped me
"Now ya'll know I don't miss out on a party" I laughed dapping up Spade
I was about to say some to Goddess but she excused herself and walked away. Of course me being the man that I am I had to turn around and stare at her ass that was looking to good
I seen her get stopped by a nigga and she was all smiling in his face and shit
"Looks like yo girl found herself a new nigga" Spade laughed
I smacked my lips going to the kitchen to get me a drink.
I grabbed my cup of Henny turning around to leave when I seen Goddess entering.
"Aye come take a walk with me" I told her as I took a sip of my cup
She simply nodded following me out. We walked down the driveway to the side walk. I honestly didn't know where we was going I just know I wanted to get to know her without people in our conversation.
"So what's up?" She asked
"None just wanted to get to know you better is that a problem?" I asked staring at her
"Depending your reasons behind it"
"And what might those reasons be?"
"If you trying to genuinely be my friend then I'm all for it but if you trying to smash and pass then you wasting yo time buddy" She patted my back and I couldn't help but laugh
"Nah it ain't even like that Ma"
"What I say about calling me Ma?"
"My bad I meant Goddess" I laughed holding my arms up in surrender "But aye why you leave before a nigga woke up that day?" I asked
"I had to get home parents didn't know where I was at" She said looking away
"So if yo parents don't want you out this way why still come?" I said taking a seat on a bench
"Because I don't see anything bad about any of this. People talk about Harlem and the projects like the people out here are so different and diseased" She said taking a seat next to me
"We are different Gotti"
"The only difference I see is the money situation other then that there's really no difference. We all go through shit. We all feel shit so why does money have to stop us from hanging with those who don't have it?" She looked me with seriousness
"I don't know its just the way life is I guess" I shrugged not really knowing what to say because she had a point. Without the money we all bleed the same and we all feel the same pain but since we broke and live in the hood our pain is put out there for the world to see.
"Well I'm not about to pick the people I hang out with because I can afford a 100 thousand dollar car and they can't. I honestly feel like people who don't have a lot are more genuine then those who do"
"There has to be a more deeper reason Goddess" I said grabbing her chin making her look at me. Staring at her eyes I could see the hurt in them
"I guess I kinda wish I lived this lifestyle then the one I do"
"Why would you rather live struggling day by day when you can have it all?"
"Why have it all when you don't have the things that's most important?"
"And what's that?"
"Happiness and Love. I have both my parents in my life but feel as if I have neither. They're never home and when they are they could care less if I'm alive or not. All that matters is their work and money. I want to feel happy and loved but how can I feel that when all I feel is like if I'm a burden?" She said with tears now falling "I see how you guys don't have money but ya'll got each other. You have happiness and love and I would kill to have that"
She stared me in my eyes as I watch the tears fall freely.
She was a perfect example on how money didn't buy happiness.
I leaned in crashing my lips into hers
Goddess was truly a beauty with a heart of gold.
