Your P.O.V
"Honeydukes sweet shop is brilliant. But nothing beats Zonko's joke shop. We never did get a chance to go to the Shrieking Shack though, you heard that it's-"
"The most haunted building in Britain, yeah, I heard." Harry says interrupting Ron, who has spent the last ten minutes talking about the Hogsmede trip.
As we ride the moving staircase up to the fat lady portrait, I notice that there's somewhat of a commotion near the entrance doors.
"What's that about?" I ask drawing the other's attention to the group of students fussing in front of the entrance.
"Huh, probably Neville's forgotten the password again," Ron scoffs.
"Hey!" Neville says from behind us.
"Oh! You're there," Ron replies sounding slightly proud that Neville hasn't forgotten the password... yet. It's bound to happen.
The staircase comes to a stop and we try to push past the crowd to see what's going on.
"Uh, let me through, please. Excuse me! I'm head boy!" Percy yells as people clear a path for him. Still at the back, Ron, Harry, Hermione and I just try to get a better look, confused by all the gasping and jittering from both the students and the paintings around our general area. "Get back... no one is to enter this dormitory until it has been full searched."
"What the bloody hell is going on?" I think aloud.
Ginny suddenly pushes through people and her face relaxes slightly when she sees us. "The Fat Lady! She's gone!"
"What?" I ask as my friends continue trying to see. "What do you mean she's gone?" I ask.
"Serves her right... she was a terrible singer," Ron says.
"It's not funny, Ron." Hermione scolds automatically.
I finally get a good look at the scene and the Fat Lady is, in fact, gone. There are tears on the picture, violent tears, and I can't help but wonder who torn it.
"Keep calm everyone. Ravenclaws, back to your common room. All right, be quiet. The headmaster's here," Percy says.
"Make way!" Filch yells pushing past us and sending me flying to the side of the staircase thus making me cling onto the railing for dear life.
A few people around look at me curiously to watch how I react. After my Potions speech, word got around on what I had said and people started treating me as they normally did. Don't get me wrong, I still get glares in the hallways, people flinch when I say my full name and most people aren't comfortable being in a room alone with me. Not to mention the fact that whenever anything happens people have to see if (y/n) Riddle's reaction, you know, in case she kills anyone. Ok, when I say it like that it sounds worse than it actually is... anyway.
Dumbledore walks up to the painting and merely stops when he sees the tears and missing Fat Lady. "Mr. Filch? Round up the ghosts. Tell them to search every painting in the castle to find the Fat Lady," he says running his fingers over the tears.
"There's no need for ghosts, Professor. The Fat Lady is there," Filch says pointing to a painting directly across from us and one floor up.
The students, us included quickly start charging towards the Fat Lady to find out what's going on making Percy quite frustrated.
"Hey! Mind where you're going! Slow down! You listen! I'm Head Boy! Come back here!" he yells as we completely ignore him.
"Keep moving!" Dumbledore says trying to get to the front. When we approach he makes his way to the front once again and talks to her softly. "Dear Lady... who did this to you?"
She cries as she pokes her head up from behind a rhinoceros. Well, not sure that's where I'd go if I were hiding from someone, but I don't judge.
"Eyes like the devil, he's got. As a soul as dark as his name. It's him, Headmaster. The one they all talk about. He's here, somewhere in the castle! Sirius Black!" she yells before crying again and ducking back behind the animal.
"Oh my Gallifrey," I say in disbelief. "Sirius Black is... here?"
"Secure the castle, Mister Filch. The rest of you, to the Great Hall," Dumbledore instructs.
The kids push past us running to the Great Hall and I watch Harry beside me, looking tense and afraid. I grab his hand and kiss it reassuringly. "You're gonna be ok. Were going to go to the Great Hall and everything is gonna be fine."
He nods and I grab my wand with the my other hand. You can never be too careful. As Ron and Hermione shakily follow Harry and I down the staircases behind the rest of the students on their way to the Great Hall, I attempt to be the brave one in the situation and take charge. I instruct Hermione to keep her eye out in case she sees someone who looks even the slightest like Sirius Black and I tell Ron to go make sure Ginny is ok. As for me, I just tighten my grip on Harry's hand as I keep my eyes on him. Until they say that Sirius Black is no longer in the castle, Harry is not leaving my sight.
**
After getting to the Great Hall we get sorted by house and years and are told to stay in our assigned section whilst they count everyone to ensure that all students are in the Great Hall.
I sit in a small circle with Harry, Hermione and Ron, obviously. The tension in the Hall is clearly very high and it doesn't help when we hear the gates being closed meaning no one can get into the school and no one can get out. Not that it's useful. Sirius Black escaped Azkaban. Let's hope Hogwarts has an outstanding security system.
"I've been in a lockdown before," I say breaking the silence.
"When?" Hermione asks curiously.
"Year three," I reply recalling the time. "It was in Muggle school though, I was... eight... or nine? Not relevant. Anyway, our whole school went on lockdown and we had to be completely silent and stay still in the dark. we had laughed throughout the entire thing."
"Well, who broke in? I assume it wasn't a mass murderer like Sirius Black," Ron says.
"Worse, actually. A wild deer," I say making them look at me amused. "The whole school was on lockdown because of a deer."
My friends laugh which makes me feel better knowing that I put them in a better mood even if it's only a brief one. After telling a few more funny moments from my younger years and answering a bunch of Muggle questions from Ron, the Professors announce that we'll be staying in the Great Hall overnight.
We all have individual sleeping bags and I climb into the one beside the rest of the quad. Hermione falls asleep almost immediately after Mcgonagall tells us to and even though he'd never admit it, Ron watched her for a few moments before dozing off which leaves, as usual, just me and Harry.
"I wanted to say thank you," he whispers so that we aren't heard.
"For?" I whisper back.
"For protecting me. Like you always do... or try to," he corrects himself.
"Yeah, well, I've assigned it my job to make sure you don't die. And you definitely don't make it easy for me!" I exclaim quietly making him laugh.
"Hey, I don't mean for it to happen, it just does," he grabs hold of my hand and plays with my fingers. "I'm always gonna be here to protect you, you know?"
I feel myself blush. "Thanks."
"I'm serious. I'll be here for you like you are always here for me," he says sincerely.
For reasons I cannot describe this makes me feel something and I look into his incredible emerald green eyes before tuning onto my back and yawning. "You promise you'll protect me?"
"I promise."
"Forever?"
"Forever and always."
And that's the last thing I remember hearing before falling asleep.
