"Poor Beca." Aubrey frowns and I sigh.
I nod. "I know, Jesse told me about her phone call with her mom." I agree as a lightbulb pops in my head. "How about we invite her over to help us with cookies?"
"Yeah, okay. You call her and I'll run to the store. Text me what we need." I nod as Aubrey grabs her keys and runs out to her car.
BUZZ.BUZZ.
"Hello?" Beca's voice was so great to hear, I miss that girl.
"Hey Beca, it's Chloe. I'm with Aubrey and we're wondering if you want to come over and help us with Christmas cookies, it's only three days away." I greet her.
"Oh, yeah, Chloe, I don't- I don't know-"
I groan. "Beca, come on! Be here in an hour." I plea.
"I'll be there."

Aubrey smiles. "She's here, I'll get the door." Beca knocks on the door and Aubrey opens it. "Hey, Beca, how's your-?"
"Great. What kind of cookies are we making?" Beca walks right past Aubrey into the kitchen.
An hour passes and we're making sugar cookies, so we let Beca cut the dough out with the cookie cutters. Beca has rarely talked or shown even a small smile.
BANG.
I run into the kitchen and see Beca smashes the cookie dough with the cutter.
"Make cookies wasn't a great idea, maybe we should've said a movie." I whisper to Aubrey.
Aubrey cringed at Beca. "I'll call Jesse."
"Yeah."

BUZZ. BUZZ. BUZZ.
"Aubrey, Beca's friend is calling." I tell Benji, who I'm on the phone with. "I'll call you back."
"Alright, I'll talk to you later."
I hang up and answer Aubrey's call. "Aubrey? Hey, what's up?"
"Um," Aubrey says frantically. "So Beca's over and smashing, uh killing the island counter with cookie cutters."
"You gave Beca cookie cutters after her Dad nearly had a heart attack and her step mom is dying?!" I yell into the phone. "God dammit, yeah I'm coming."
I drive over to Chloe's house and I knock on the door.
"Come in." Aubrey opens the door and walks me to the kitchen, where Beca is killing the counter with a plastic cookie cutter. Beca doesn't see me, so I tap her shoulder.
Shaking, Beca turns around and sees me. She drops the cookie cutter and buries her face in my chest. "Hey, hey." I feel her shaking body and shaky breaths. "Let's go home, okay." I pick her up and walk her to my car. I sit her in the front seat and buckle her in, kissing her forehead. I walk to the drivers seat and put the car in drive. "Bec."
She sighs but doesn't say a word.
"What happened in there, Bec?" No answer. She rests her head on her hand and shakes as she looks out the window. "It's okay," I assure her. "It's gonna be okay,"
We arrive at Beca's dad's house. Beca unbuckles her seat belt as soon as I stop the car. She walks into the house quickly.
"Beca!" I yell for her. Ugh, I'm gonna have to go get her car later. "Bec!" I call when I walk into the house. "I love you!"
"I love you." I hear her voice mumble from her bedroom.
I walk to our room. "Bec,"
"Go away." Well, that was a punch in the face. "I don't want you to see me like this."
"I love you Beca," I sigh. "I'm gonna see you in every form you have of yourself. When we're married you'll see all of me. Because people that love each other, know you. I know this isn't you Bec, because I love you."
