Chapter 21
"you will never know what you have until it's gone."
I been hearing that saying all day. Im in my last class of the day. I can't wait to leave. I got to go see my boo Cordell today! He broke his leg the other day and he didn't come to school. I wrote down my assignment and finally the bell rang! I raced out the room and dump my book in my locker. As I was walking out, jardsell looked at me and said "where's Michelle?" I smiled and said "I really don't know, oh yea she got checked out." he sighed and I left. I went in my car and drove off.
I had stopped to marco's abd got a pizza and I reached his house. Nobody was home besides him so I found the key under the mat and let myself in. I went up to his room and he was sitting on the floor. I put my stuff down and said "Cordell, I missed you." he turned and said "ahh babe, come here." I got on the floor and hugged him and he said "heck naw, you ain't finna be scared of me since I got a cast on my leg." I chuckled and said "I was scared I was gonna hurt your leg.". He pulled me into his lap and said "you're not hurting my leg in this position now show me some love." I kissed him and he wouldnt let me go. I backed up and said "yes, so I brought you pizza." he smiled and I got up and got his crutches. I rested them on the bed and said "get up." he leaned on the bed and started getting up. Then I helped him up. I gave him his crutches and said "I'm glad we are only sophomores cause I wouldnt go to prom with you." he chuckled and said "so we going downstairs." I nodded and we walked downstairs, slowly. I sat him down and I out a slice of pizza on his plate. He smiled and said "so how was school?" I shrugged and said "like any other day. But, so tell me about your leg. What happen." he kissed his teeth and said "playing basketball. Did me a lil dunk, came down wrong and my leg felt like it snapped. You like my cast?" I looked down at his cast again and it was black. I chuckled and said "black?" he smiled and said "ima let cayla badazzle it." I smiled and said "Awh, that's cute.".
We sat there talking then he said "I have to pee." I shook my head and said "can you hold it till your mama come home.". He looked like he had to go bad too. I sighed abd said "fine." I got up and helped him up. We walked upstairs and I opened the bathroom door. I rested his crutches on the side and he zipped down his pants. I turned and he said "this is where you come in. Just hold my waist. You know so I wont fall over." I nodded and I held his waist and he did his thang. He put his pants on and said "now, can you walk me over to the sink so I could wash up." I nodded and did so. He finally done and let's just say, I think he is lying, he could have use the bathroom all by himself. We went in his room and I helped him sit up in his bed. I sat cris cross applesauce and be said "So, I wanna go to school in the morning, can you come get me?" I nodded and he said "Good. Thank you for everything today." I nodded and said "No problem." I kissed his cheek and cut the tv on. We was watching tv and he put his hands around me and said "I love you." I looke over and said "I love you too.". My phone started playing.
(8) let's start over (8) by beyonce. I got up and got my phone it was my mama.
Me: yes!
Mom: umm so I'm looking at this email from your teacher and she said you have 2 unserved detentions.
Me: ugh. Stupid trick. She gave me a detention because I was being smart. But I'm not serving them.
Mom: well yes you are, matter of fact you either serve those two detentions or that car is mines.
Me: okay I'll serve them.
Mom: good, now are you with cordell?
Me: yes.
Mom: tell I said sorry bout his leg and I'll see you home later on bye love.
Me: bye.
I hung up and Cordell said "you better serve them detentions. You and this smart mouth!". I smiled abd said "she doesn't like me, I'm telling you." he was rubbing his hands through my hair. I smiled and said "so, it's about time I leave. I'm gonna call you when I reach home." I kissed his lips and he said "No don't leave now. I like how we was laying." I sighed and said "I can't, I have homework and I have stops to make." he smirked and said "you lying, you just want don't want to stay and kiss your boyfriend. It's okay.". I smiled and said "No, I just, nevermind, you won't understand". I got up and put my flats on. He groaned and said "please just stay till my mama comes home." I gathered my stuff and said "I'm sorry boo, but I have to get home." The reason I wanna leave is because everytime we kiss, it always get crazy and it makes me feel pressured. He looked at me and said "okay, Alright." he was upset, see I feel bad now. I kissed his forehead and he said "I know that's not the reason but okay." I hugged him and left.
When I got home, I went inside and said "hey guys." my mom looked and said "your home, so how's Cordell?" I shrugged and said "He's fine. Just a little lazy but thats him for you." I sat down beside Amari and she said "Can you take me to go skating.". I nodded and said "yes in a little bit." I walked upstairs in my bed and my phone rang. It was Cordell.
Me: hello !
Cordell: you left your jacket. Oh and are you home?
Me: Yea, I just reached. What you doing ?
Cordell: over here sitting where you left me.
Me: why you sound so harsh, I had to go home Cordell.
Cordell: Okay , I just wanted someone to be with me.
Me: where is lacy ?
Cordell: Byee .
Me: I was kidding Cordell.
Cordell: I know but you always doing that foolishness. It's not funny.
Me: okay okay did it hit your soft spot ? Dang.
Cordell: Alright. Leave me alone know.
Me: okay whatever crybaby. I have to take Amari to the skating rink so I'll talk to you later.
Cordell: girl it's closed.
Me: I have to tell her then. Let me call you back then.
I hung up and walked in Marions room. She was getting ready. I smiled and said "Hey Amari the skating rink is closed. I'll take you on the weekend." she nodded and said "okay, I'll just remind you." I kissed her cheek and walked out. I went in the kitchen and my dad said "hey you hungry?" I nodded and said "I could eat. Why what you cooking?" he sighed and said "Let's see, I was gonna do a vegetable soup." I nodded and said "that's fine with me.". He nodded and I walked upstairs.
Next morning.
I had to wake up a little earlier than what I normally do. I showered and slipped on my capris. I grabbed a white tank top and purple cardigan with my sandals. I put my hair up and gathered my stuff. I went downstairs and my momma was up. I smiled and said "well I have to leave to go get crippled.". She laughed and said "Alright, get something to eat cause I'm not cooking." I nodded and said "Bye then." I walked out and headed out.
When I reached to crippled house, I got out and went to the door. His mom must have left the door open. I went inside and said "Cordell?". I walked upstairs and he was struggling putting on his pants. I chuckled and said "Cordell, Awh poor baby." I went and helped him. He kissed my cheek and said "alright let's go, I'm starving." I smiled and said "okay, here let me go put these up and I'll come back for you." I grabbed his crutches and took them to the car. I came back and he managed to be downstairs. I out the lights and we left.
When we reached the school, I got out and opened the door for him. He smiled and daid "thank you." I chuckled and said "no problem. Oh yes after school, you have to stay with me cause I have to serve my detentions." he nodded and I got him out the car. We walked inside and jardsell said "Man, what happen to this boy?" I chuckled and Cordell said "you promise you wasn't gonna make fun of me." I patted jardsell's back and said "He will get you back, trust me." I hugged Cordell and said "see you at lunch". He nodded and said "yea yea okay bye." I chuckled and walked off.
After school, I was Sitting in my teachers room for my detentions. Cordell must have been by my car or outside. Who knows. It was almost finished and she was sitting at her desk texting.
Finally time is up and I could leave. I grabbed my stuff and walked outside. Cordell is standing outside talking to some girl. I can't get mad or assume nothing. I walked passed him and opened my car door. I put my stuff in and got in driving up to the front for crippled. I came out and opened his door. The girl was started to walk off and she said "So I'll just give you a call about that. Bye!" I was leaning on my car waiting for him to turn and come on. Finally he did and he kissed my forehead and said "I'm hungry, can we stop somewhere.". I nodded and helped him in the car.
We reached subway and I got out and got crippled out as well. We walked inside and I seen Michelle and jarsdell. They are talking! Yay! I walked over to there table and said "Hey guys. Is this a reunion?" Michelle chuckled and said "I'll call you later." she was dismissing me from the conversation. I waved bye and walked to Cordell where he was ordering.
We got seated and he said "How was your detention?" I chuckled and said "It was okay." he nodded and said "can I come to your house until my mom comes home or you can come to mines." I nodded and said "we could go to yours." He nodded and we ate quietly talking every once in a while.
After we was finished, my phone was vibrating. A text. I looked at it and it was jermaine.
Long time you haven't texted me. What's up?
I chuckled and quickly replied.
I'll text you later, I'm with my boyfriend.
Sent. Cordell was waving his hand in my face. I smiled and said "Yes?" he chuckled and said "who was that?" I sighed and said "Jermaine." he nodded acting like he didn't care and I said "Don't worry, i said I was with my boyfriend." he nodded again and I said "stop, just stop. I just told you the truth. Better be glad I didn't lie." He nodded again and said "So you would have lied.?" I didn't say anything. Then he sighed and said "Help me up. I'm ready to leave." I sighed and said "Cordell, you always do this. You get to text girls and don't tell me the conversation. I get upset then you say 'but at the end of the day you the one who is my girlfriend.' now when I do it you get mad and I'm tired of it. Your not going anywhere until you just quit doing that and I'm serious. I'll leave your crippled self here." he chuckled and said "crippled seriously? Alright, say no more. I'm out." He got up struggling and I got up too. I snatched his crutches and he said "Symone, I'm not playing with you. Pass them." I chuckled and said "quit being childish. You are so stubborn. We talked about this. Do you not trust me or something. Cordell just sit down." he balanced himself on the booth and I said "the more you be stubborn the more we stay here.". He sighed and said "I can wait all day." I nodded and said "I'm not gonna waste my time on you, come on let's go I'll just take you home." I handed him his crutches and we walked outside. I opened the door for him and helped him in. I got in and we drove off.
When I reached his house, his mom was home. I got out and somehow he manage to get out by himself. I rang the doorbell and his mom came and opened the door. I smiled and said "hey. I'm not gonna stay cause he's being stubborn and jealous. Just dropping him home." Cordell was just starring at me. I rolled my eyes and his mom let him inside. I started walking off and Cordell said "SYMONE! Im sorry." I nodded and said "just call me when your ready to talk." with that said I got in my car and drove off.
Why is it that something always has to mess up a relationship. I'm not upset and he shouldn't be upset. I reached home and my mom was home. I walked inside and said "Hey." she smiled and said "Hey Symone, I'm gonna go dash to the store to get something. Watch out for the twins and Amari." I nodded and she left. I went upstairs and laid across my bed. My phone started ringing and it was Cordell. I sighed and picked up.
Me: hello ?
Cordell: I'm sorry.
Me: I know.
Cordell: I'm not stubborn, so stop.
Me: okay.
Cordell: umm I did sound a little selfish at subway and I'm sorry for that as well.
Me: and I forgive you. But look you have to realize I'm not doing this to hurt you, I just don't like how you treat me sometimes.
Cordell: I'm sorry again.
Me: I'm getting tired of that word.
Cordell: well I can't help it. You always find my faults and wrongs so I have to apologize for them.
Me: and that's what I love about you. But we will work on it.
Cordell: I feel ya on that. Now since we are sorted can I call you back cause I'm gonna nap.
Me: uh yea, I'll be here waiting for you to get up.
Cordell: alright, bye.
Me: bye-
Cordell: wait! I - I love you .
(chuckles)
Me: I love you too Cordell.
Cordell: Good to hear, bye.
Me: Byee.
I hung up and got up and checked on the twins and Amari.
