MAX POV:
We were in Gabe's cell getting ready to cast the spell and Gabe wouldn't stop barking. Eventually Lux got pissed and snarled with as much power as she could muster.
I lowered my head and sat down in submission and Gabe cowered in the corner quiet as a mouse. Callie and Liza giggled at me and Lux turned around and smiled at me. I hesitantly stood up. "Shut up I can't help it!" That only made the witches laugh louder. Lux came over and hugged me.
"Sorry Max he was getting on my nerves." Lux said softly I shook my head. "It's fine you're just putting him in his place."
Once everyone calmed down we went back to doing the spell. Callie sat down and closed her eyes as Liza started chanting in Latin a few minutes passed of the same chant until Callie opened her eyes. They were normal. "Yeah this isn't working." Callie said clearly irritated.
"You don't have enough of an connection with him to complete the transfer." Liza said. All heads turned to me. "Whoa I'm not about to be a vessel for him. The first time didn't really make me wanna do it again."
Liza came over and grabbed my hand. "Please, baby you are the only one that can do this. Imagine if I got killed and no one came and found you. How would you feel?" I gripped her hand. "Fine I'll do it, but you guys owe me!" I pulled Liza over to me and kissed her hard making sure to leave her wanting more.
"Okay so just sit down and clear your mind I'll do the rest." Liza instructed me quietly as she calmed herself down. I did as she said and listened as she started chanting. Her melodic voice was the last thing I heard before everything went silent.

LIZA POV:
Max opened her eyes they were a dark brown. "Hello Jake we're sorry that we had to do this to you, but we have some questions." Lux said her voice dripped with authority.
"Of course Alpha I'm at your service." Jake said as he bowed his head. "You know the punishment for what Gabe tried to do, but before we carry it out we were wondering if you had a mate waiting for you somewhere." Callie asked him softly. His head hung low.
"Yes we do we met her a few years ago, but by then Gabe was obsessed with Max and he refused to acknowledge her existence. I tried to intervene, but he locked me away in his mind for weeks at a time making me very weak."
"Is she a part of this pack? What's her name?" Jake looked up excitedly. "Her name is Emily and yes she is a part of this pack or at least she was a few years ago. She's our age. She's got bright red hair and chocolate eyes. She's beautiful." He said dreamily.
I glanced over at lux and she had a tear streaming down her face. Callie was comforting her as best she could. Jake followed my gaze.
"What is it Lux?" I asked worriedly.
She shook her head. "I know who he's talking about. She came to my dad years ago and told him that her mate had rejected her. My dad basically told her to suck it up and get out of his face. My mom took pity on her and separated her from her wolf. Hoping that she could find love that way. Which is what Emily wanted. But it wasn't so she could find love. Emily killed herself that same day. Her wolf roams the territory protecting us from threats and waiting for Jake. She vowed to be loyal for life so my dad let her stay. My dad didn't even blink at the news of Emily's death he was just happy that she left her wolf to protect us. But my mom was a mess when she explained everything to Emily's parents. They left the pack right after her funeral. We go to her grave every year to pay our respects..." Lux whispered emotionally.
Jake broke down at the news. "Please Alpha let me be with her! I pledge my loyalty please don't make her suffer on my insane humans behalf. Please show me some mercy!" He begged through his tears.
Lux knelt in front of him and laid her hand on his shoulder. "I'm sorry Jake, but I am not alpha yet. I don't have the power to separate you from Gabe. I'm so sorry." He broke down sobbing and curled up on the floor.
"I can do it." Callie said softly Jake calmed down and looked up hopefully. "Really Luna you could do that?" Callie nodded. "You deserve it. Not all wolves would be able to put up with Gabe for so long."
He shot up and crushed Callie in a hug. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!" He yelled happily. Callie chuckled. "Okay Liza is going to have to put you back in Gabe's body so I can perform the separation."
Jake sat back down and closed his eyes. He was vibrating with excitement. I quickly put Jake back in Gabe's body and made sure max was alright. She was passed out, but I wasn't worried it was normal.
Lux carried her out of the cell and laid her down on a bench. I released Gabe from my spell and he shifted back into an adult man. Lux threw him a pair of shorts which he quickly put on. "You bitch! How dare you spell me?! Who do you think you are?" He tried to lunge at me, but his chains prevented him from touching me.
My temper flared and I raised my arm throwing him against the wall knocking the wind out of him. "I am Max's mate and I will do anything to keep her safe especially if it means I get to spell pieces of shit like you! I lifted my hand, hoisting him in the air holding him there. I signaled for Callie to start the separation spell, she didn't hesitate.
I watched as Jake separated from Gabe and fell to the floor. Gabe screamed in agony and fell from my grasp still chained to the wall.
Jake was a giant, but very respectful. Lux shifted and we led him out of the cells. Max was still asleep on the bench outside.
Once we were outside Lux let out a deafening howl and Jake joined her.
Once they finished a crushing silence followed. I was about to give up hope when I heard a distant howl. Jake started jumping around like a puppy and lux let out another long howl.
A few tense minutes passed when we saw a reddish gray wolf bounding out of the tree line barking and yipping happily. Jake raced out out to meet her. They collided falling to the ground. All we heard were happy yips and whimpers. It was a beautiful meeting Callie and I were both emotional wrecks crying our eyes out.
Once the two mates had calmed down they both pranced over to us. They bowed to lux and she bowed back to them. Emily's wolf rushed over to lux licking her face whimpering appreciatively. Lux nuzzled her neck lovingly.
Emily's wolf noticed us and walked us cautiously. She glanced at Jake who nodded reassuringly. She walked up to Callie first and bowed. Callie bowed back and fell to her knees wrapping the wolf in a hug.
I came over and pet her gently letting her know I was happy for her. She licked my hand and walked back over to Jake. They sat next to lux and let out one last howl before running back into the forest.
Lux shifted back and Callie handed her some clothes. Her and Callie shared a heartfelt embrace. Then we went back to the cells to get max and deal with Gabe.
We let max sleep and went back into Gabe's cell. He immediately started spewing hateful crap at us. "You callous bitches I can't believe I'm human! How dare you? Who gave you the authority to separate Jake and I?"
Lux growled and grabbed him by the throat cutting off his air supply. "My mate doesn't need permission from anyone! She has more power in her little finger than you have in your whole body so don't even question her actions!
You insignificant little worm!"
She threw him to the ground he was gasping for air. "I was t-talking to you little alpha or should I call you worthless mutt because I think that suits you better." Gabe rasped out evilly and attempted to cackle, but had a coughing fit.
Lux's eyes lit up brighter than I've ever seen. "Gabe Evans you are hereby sentenced to death for you crimes against Maxine Miller the future Beta of the Blood Moon pack. Do you have any last words?"
I saw Lux's claws extend as Gabe opened his mouth to speak.
"Fuck you Lux! You can't kill me! You don't have the..." He was cut off by Lux plunging her hand into his chest. His eyes bulged and he groaned in pain. She ripped his heart out and he fell to the floor lifeless. She tossed his heart to the ground and spat on it marching over to the sink and washing her hands.
Callie stepped over Gabe's body and went over to lux rubbing her back softly. I quickly turned Gabe to dust just like I had with the dark witch and cleaned up the rest of the mess left behind.
"Thank you Liza I didn't want to deal with that." Lux said softly as we walked out of the cell. "No problem. Now let's just get max and get outta here. I'm sick of these cells."
We rounded the corner where max was supposed to be sleeping, but when we got there all we saw was a pile of clothes. We rushed over and looked for any sign of max and what we saw made all of our jaws drop to the floor....
