Jacob's POV
"Welcome to the Rooks." I said as the, now ex-Blighter, put on the green coat, indicating that he is now on our side. Just as I finished speaking, I heard Evie shout out.
"Jacob!" I looked up at the train, only to see her holding onto an unconscious (Name), who was resting on her lap. I let out a small gasp as I quickly ran and climbed up the carriage, only to be greeted by the sight of a pool of blood surrounding both Evie and (Name). I rushed over to Evie and said,
"What happened?"
"I don't know. One minute everything is fine, and then the next she collapsed." I looked around and noticed that a majority of the blood is coming from (Name)'s stomach.
"We need to get her somewhere safer. She's been slashed across the stomach and the longer we sit around doing nothing, the more chance she has of dying." A wave of panic began to course through my body, my heart beating at an uneven pace, the urge to do something, anything, increasing with each passing second. I could feel my body begin to shake, the sounds around me beginning to fade away as I focused on (Name) alone.
"Jacob." I thought I heard someone say, though I couldn't be fully sure. "Jacob." They said once again, their voice louder than before, indicating that I wasn't simply imagining it. "Jacob!" They shouted out while shaking my shoulders. I adverted my eyes from (Name) and glanced over to see who it was that was shouting out my name.
"Greenie? What are you doing here?" I said with confusion. "Last we saw you was before we went and fought Kaylock."
"I was coming to see what happened, until I heard the commotion. Tell me, what happened?"
"I don't know. One minute, I'm welcoming someone to the Rooks and the next, I hear Evie scream out my name, with an unconscious (Name) surrounded by her own blood. We have to help her." I went to pick up (Name), only to be stopped by Henry.
"Listen, now that Kaylock is dead, these people are going to be needing guidance, especially those who will join you. You deal with them and I'll get (Name) to the hospital." He said as he began to move towards her unconscious body and began to pick her up, bridal style.
"But,"
"Jacob, I know you're worried, but she'll be alright."
"Worried isn't the only thing I feel right now. I'm bloody scared that she won't be alright." I muttered out, hoping that no one had heard me as I don't want to deal with any questions as to what I said. Thankfully, no one had heard.
"I promise to take care of her. She'll be up and running beside you and Evie in no time."
"She better be alright; we can't do this without her."
"You deal with this and I'll get (Name) to the hospital, she'll be in safe hands, I assure you." All I did was nod my head, knowing that he'll take care of her. With that, He left with (Name) in his arms, carefully jumping down from the top of the train, and called a carriage. Before I knew it, they left and I was left with Evie and those who are now known as the Rooks.
"Jacob, will you address them, or shall I?" Evie spoke up.
"You do it." I replied as I looked to the ground, only to see the strange type of gun that Kaylock had on him. I simply picked it up as Evie turned towards the people and said,
"We welcome all have joined The Rooks. As now isn't the time to establish what we need you to do, we now have a stronghold were you can stay, should you choose to." With that, the crown dispersed and my sister and I jumped off the train and made our way inside.
"Ay ya bastard. I'd rather throw me'sel to the tracks, than run Bertha another mile fer that doaty bawbag." Was the first thing we heard someone, with what looks to be a Scottish accent, said as soon as we entered the train. We looked to see a woman with light brown hair and brown eyes.
"Kaylock? He's left the station." I said to get her attention.
"Well. Hallo fancy pants! And who might you two be?" Before I could reply, Evie spoke up.
"I'm Evie Frye and this is my brother, Jacob Frye."
"Pleased to meet ye. I'm Agnes MacBean." The woman, who we now know as Agnes, replied.
"A delight." I said.
"I thought I was gettin' a promotion. I suppose I'm out of work now." As she said this, I looked towards Evie, who said.
"Come work for us instead."
"Awa an bile yer heid (away and boil your head)! You pay better than scraps?"
"I'm sure we can at least match that." I couldn't help but say, to which Evie slapped me on the arm.
"Then may I present to you Agnes and Bertha. Lady and locomotive at your service, I'll be in the next car." Agnes said as she bowed and left. With that out of the way, I immediately thought of (Name), hoping that she is alright.
End of POV
Darkness, it clouds my vision, robbing me of my vision. I look to the left, to the right, hoping to find any source of light, but nothing is in sight. I can't decide whether I'm standing or lying down, it feels as if I'm just floating. I tried to open my eyes, trying to force myself to see something other than the darkness, but my body refused to listen to me, so all I could do was lie there. Thankfully, I still obtain my sense of hearing what's around me.
"Is she going to be alright?" I hear a familiar voice speak.
"She has lost a lot of blood, but she will recover." And unfamiliar voice replied.
"How long will it be before she awakens?"
"I cannot say for I don't know. What I do know however, is that she will awaken when her body has recovered enough."
"Thank you doctor."
"No need to thank me, it's my job to help. If there is anything else you need, don't hesitate to ask." With that, I heard the sound of footsteps leaving. Not long after, I felt someone place their hand on top of mine.
"Come on (Name), wake up. There is someone who is incredibly worried about you, waiting for you to return in full health." From hearing the voice a few times now, I was able to determine that it belonged to Henry. I tried once again to open my eyes, nothing but determination coursing through my veins. It took some time, but my eyes eventually fluttered open and the first thing I see is the look of worry on Henry's face. However, that disappeared the moment he saw me awake and a look of relief flashed through his eyes. I took a quick glance around and saw that I was in, what looked to be, a hospital of sorts.
"H...Hen...ry..." I stuttered out, my throat feeling nothing but dry. He said nothing as he leaned over to the cabinet that's placed beside the bed, grabbing a cup full of water and passing it to me. I lifted my shaking arm and grabbed the cup, bringing it to my lips before taking a sip.
"How are you feeling?" Henry asked after I've had some water.
"Like I've been slashed across the stomach and lost too much blood. Anyway, when can I get out of here? Jacob and Evie must be worried." I replied as I began to get up, only to wince in pain.
"Woah (Name), you need to take it easy."
"I just want to get out of here."
"Alright I'll talk to the doctor and see what we can do." Henry got up and went off in search of the doctor, leaving me alone for the time being.
Mini time skip
It wasn't long before both Henry and the doctor entered the room. We talked for a little bit before I was finally allowed to leave, which I was very thankful for.
"Before we find Jacob and Evie, there are just a few things I need to pick up from my shop. You don't mind a little detour, do you?" Henry asked as we left the hospital.
"Not at all. To be honest, I could go for a walk." I replied.
"Alright then, let's go."
"Wait," I said, catching his attention. "I heard you earlier, saying how there is someone who is incredibly worried about me, and that they are waiting for me to return to full health. Who were you talking about?"
"Why, I was talking about Jacob. He was very worried when he saw that you were unconscious, he didn't want to leave you alone. However, I told him that I would take you to the hospital while he dealt with matters." I couldn't help but smile at his words.
"I had no idea that he was that worried."
"You seemed to have made an impact on him. He wanted to help you, but I told him that I'll take care of that while he deals with other matters, now that Kaylock is dead. Now, we should be heading off, we don't want to risk running into trouble." With that said, we walked off.
