Chapter Twenty Two: Finally, The Final.
|~Lily's POV~|
"One Direction, you will be duetting with Robbie Williams," Simon beamed. The boys yelled and high fived.
"Matt with Rihanna," Dannii continued as Matt fell off his chair.
"Three of my girls!" Cheryl smiled smugly at Simon. "Three...Cher with Will.I.Am-"
"AHH!" Cher screamed and ran around the room to huh Cheryl. "OH MY GOD!"
"Rebecca, Christina Aguilera," Rebecca Remained composed, but her hands were shaking.
"And Lily, Taylor Swift." Cheryl finished. I shrieked. I loved Taylor Swift. She was one of my idols.
"No way! Amazing!"
"Boys, you'll be singing: She's The One." Simon told them.
"Matt, here's your song," Dannii passed him a paper.
"Cher, I Gotta Feeling, Rebecca, Beautiful, Lily, a mash-up of Safe & Sound and White Horse," Cheryl said.

THE FINAL.
"Lily Tomlinson!" Cheryl roared, indicating my first song of the night. This time, I was so nervous I felt sick. The butterflies in my stomach were having a party, and as Cher pushed me gently out on stage I resisted.
"Come on Lilz," Niall whispered. I whimpered, smoothed down my aqua blue dress and walked out on stage.

I bit my lip and waited for the comments from the judges. Cheryl and Simon were on their feet, and that was enough for me. Anyway, you can't very well criticise someone in the final, I heard.
"I can't wait for your next song," Simon said, just before I tottered off the stage.
"Hey, Lilienne." Niall had a smug look on his face.
"What?"
"I have a feeling you want me back," He grinned.
"Pfft! Pfft! Pfft! What?!" I scoffed. "That's ludicrous!"
"So you didn't pick that sing to match our relationship?" He chuckled knowingly. If only his face weren't so darn perfect i would punch it! Wait, what am I saying?
"Nope," I smiled innocently.
"And you didn't pick a Westlife song cause they're my favourite band?" He folded his arms, leaning up against a chair.
"I wouldn't sacrifice my final for you!" I lied.
"Ouch," Niall clutched his heart.
"You are so annoying!" I groaned. Next up was my favourite song from the series. I took a while to choose this. Cher was singing Stay, One Direction Only Girl In The World. I eventually picked The A-Team by Ed Sheeran, wearing a fluffy White dress and White heeled shoes.
"You look carrot-tastic!" Louis complimented.
"Hot." Harry agreed.
"Ahem," Nikki coughed, and Harry put an arm around her.
"Gorgeous...." Zayn put in, earning a smack off Taz and Amber.
"You're pretty, Lily!" Abi squealed like a kid.

After the usual comments and stuff I made the 'call and vote' sign with my hand and ran off the stage. I looked round eagerly for Niall, and Cher was there instead. She was crying.

|~Cher's POV~|
"Cher," Louis said, as I turned around. I was dressed, ehm, quite eccentrically. It was for 'The Clapping Song'; my boots, my white with lipstick print pyjamas bottoms, and a red jacket. My hair looked like it hadn't been brushed.
"I'm sorry."
Just those simple words made my heartbeat flutter. Louis was sorry.
"I'm sorry, Cher. I didn't mean to upset you," He continued.
"Well, you did," I said, turning away. O couldn't let him see how much hurt he caused me.
"Cher, I'm sorry," He begged.
"I'm sorry too, Louis," I smiled a watery smile before going onstage.
|~Lily's POV~|
"Oh my Cher-Bear, don't be sad!" I threw my arms around her.
"Lily?!" Cheryl gasped. "Get ready for your duet!"
"Oh sorry!" I exclaimed, changing upstairs. I was in a dress. A black dress with long net sleeves and a silk bodice with a fake jewel where the v neck of the dress ended. The rest of the skirt part was simply black. It was completely in contrast with the White dress Taylor Swift was wearing.
"Lily Tomlinson, singing a mash up of songs, with her duet partner!" Cheryl screamer, as she took her place beside Simon.
What if I messed up? Alongside Taylor Swift? How embarrassing would that be? What if I switched into the mash up too early?
'Oh shut up and get your ass onside!' hissed my conscience.
"No one asked you," I muttered.
"Asked me what?" Taz appeared by my side.
"Never mind," I replied quickly before entering the stage for a third time. The ominous music of the starting song Safe & Sound played.

Cheers erupted as Taylor walked onto the stage, in a floaty white dress, silver heels and a black hairband tugging back her curls. She started to sing, the other song.

"Through to tomorrow is..." Dermot paused. "ONE DIRECTION!"
The screams of the boys were ear bursting. I let a happy smile creep onto my face.
"....MATT!"
My heart dropped.
"...LILY!"
I screamed as loud as the boys, running backstage. I poked my head out from backstage, my heart nearly exploding with hope. Cher, Cher, Cher...
"...."
"...."
"REBECCA!"
"No!" I screamed furiously. "No!"
I let a couple tears slip down my cheeks. "Cher..."
I couldn't stop myself. I rushed out onstage and hugged her. She hugged back.
"I love you babe," I murmured.
"Never forget you, Lilz," She whispered, and pushing me offstage. O bit my lip and ran into Niall's open arms.

"Bye Cher." Nikki said quietly, as she hugged her. Cher was leaving that night, back to Malvern.
"Bye Cher..." Abi said, squeezing the breath out if her.
"Goodbye Cherie," Taz whispered, throwing her arms round her neck.
"Bye babe. I'll miss you." Louis said softly, kissing her cheek.
"Bye bye Cher!" I said, tears streaking on my cheeks. "I love you, you're my bestest ever friend!"
"Hey, you ain't seen the back of Cher Lloyd yet!" Cher exclaimed, hugging me. She climbed into her car and was gone. My best friend.

SUNDAY.
It was the final night, a double elimination. Our audition sing was our first. I missed Cher like Niall missed Nando's.

"Two acts are leaving the competition tonight, leaving the remaining two going head to head with our X-Factor single. Who is leaving tonight? Let's see," Dermot pulled out his card and looked at it. My knees shook.
"...Matt!"
That meant either myself or One Direction were leaving tonight...might as well pack up, Lily.

"LILY!"
I couldn't even scream. I couldn't be happy. My brother and the closest person to me were leaving? Sure, I'd see them again, but...oh my gosh...
"Lily?" Cheryl tugged me offstage. I pulled out of her grasp and put my hand on Louis' shoulder. I watched the look back with them. Niall, Louis, Liam, Zayn, Harry. Solo artists. Now look at them. Niall, Louis, Liam, Zayn, Harry. One Direction.

It seemed like a lifetime. My face was nearly bursting with nerves and anticipation. In reality a couple of minutes passed. In LilyLand, a couple millennium.
