Zev's POV
"Are you sure we're going the right way? We've been walking for hours."
"I'm pretty sure we are. I mean, Alisha is the one who knows where our sisters are located. I don't think she'd lie to us, especially since the Elders sent us to confirm the location."
"Can we at least stop and take a break. My paws are killing me, and it's almost dawn."
"Fine, Zev, fine, we'll take a break, okay? Just stop whining."
"Oh sweet Jesus, thank you." I quickly went limp across the ground. "Love ya, big sis."
Topaz rolled her eyes at me, but then she laid down next to me.
The sun was slowly rising. Some sunlight was able to shine through the tall trees around us. A few birds flew by, and some other woodland creatures ran past us. If I wasn't so tired, I would've gone for a hunt.
"You just ate 30 minutes ago!" My sister barked.
"All I had was a little mouse, that's not even a snack for a full grown wolf like me!" I whined.
Topaz sighed. "Why did I have to have siblings? I could've been an only child but no, four more of you suddenly came along."
"Don't act like you don't love us." I teased her.
She rolled her eyes at me again. Then her eyes trails off into the distance.
"What's wrong?" I asked. I followed her gaze, and almost jumped in excitement from what I saw. "Is that Sapphire?"
"I think... Come on, let's go see."
We both got up, and carefully trotted over to what seemed to be my sister. We didn't go all the way up to her though, because we'd be crossing the border lines.
I examined the large black wolf, who was sound asleep. "Yup, that's her. I recognize that snore from anywhere."
"Should we wake her up?"
I thought about it, but then shook my head no. I pointed my head to the left to show my sister the human that was resting against my Sapphire's fur. That must be her mate, one of the hunters that she insists on hanging around with. I growled at the thought. How could she be so stupid to do this to herself? Not only her, but Artemis, and Carmen too.
"Zev, calm down." Topaz nuzzled me a little.
"I should just kill the human now, and get shit over with." I snarled. "We'll have one down, and two others left to worry about."
"We're not here to kill anyone. We've done our job, we know where the territory border is."
"We do?"
"Of course. Why else would these two be out here? They're on patrol, making sure there's no threat coming to them. Look," Topaz signaled to the right, "Those are special knives used to kill our kind. They belong to the hunter, of course. With those equipment, and with Sapphire in her wolf form, they were prepared for an kind of surprise attack."
"Oh, I'm Topaz, I know things, I say words."
My sister gave me a look. "You're so immature." She shook her head. "Come on, let's report back to the Elders." My sister started to run off.
I took one last look at Sapphire, and the hunter. I sighed, knowing that once we report back to the Elders, we'd soon be back for the start of what might be a bloody battle. I sighed, then followed my older sister back to our pack grounds.
Sapphire's POV
My eyes quickly shot open. I scanned around, feeling a presence around. I looked over at Luna, to make sure she was alright. She was still sleeping like a baby. She had buried her face into my fur, and grabbed a whole chunk of it in my hands. I smiled, then softly licked her face. She stirred a bit, but didn't wake up.
The sun was out and shining, signaling the end of our scouting duties for the night. I carefully got up without waking my girl, and stretched myself out, yawning in the process. The morning dew made my paws damp and a bit cold, which made an evil thought run through my head.
I stalked over towards Luna with a wolfy grin plastered on my face. I raised the back of her shirt up with my snout. Then, I gently pressed my cold padded feet against her back.
It took a while for her reactions to kick in, but Luna jumped up, screaming in the process. She started rubbing her back, chanting, "Cold, cold, cold," over and over again. I couldn't help but to fall on my side, laughing my furry ass off, which sounded more like a cackle, kicking my paws in the air.
"You asshole, that's not funny!" Luna yelled.
My laughter slowly faded. "I'm sorry, but I had to. The look on your face was so priceless!"
Luna pouted, and crossed her arms. She huffed and turned her back towards me. I pretended to be upset, and walked up next to her. I whined and rubbed my head against her side. I got no response from her. I decided to lick the side if her face. This time she looked at me. Once her eyes met my emerald orbs, I lowered my ears, and lowered my body back on the ground, bringing my head between my paws. I was submitting to her.
Luna smiled. "You're lucky I love you." She kneels down, and scratched the bottom of my chin.
"I love you too." I happily sighed. My tail was swinging from side to side. "Come on, we should probably get back before our siblings think that we died our something."
Luna nodded. I quickly went behind a tree to shift back to my human self, then got dressed. We then gathered our things, and headed back home. Of course, Jen was waiting outside, along with Sam and Darcy. Once we passed Darcy, her and Luna gave each other a look, but didn't say anything.
I rolled my eyes. "This is an omen." My wolf commented. I told her to shut up, because she was overreacting. She growled at me, but complied.
Jen walked up to her sister and hugged her. "I'm so glad you're alright."
"Of course I'm fine, sis." Luna detached from her sister. "You don't have to worry much about me, especially when I'm with Sapphire."
I lightly blushed at the comment, but Jen rolled her eyes. Artemis soon came out, and wrapped her arms around her shoulder. "It's time for us to go scout the premises." She kissed Jen's cheek, then the two of them walked off into the distance, along with Sam.
Luna and I went inside the house. I stole a quick glance at Darcy. She winked at me, which caused an annoyed groan to erupt from inside me. We saw Carmen and Griffin sitting on the opposite side of the living room and Leo and his mate were watching TV. All these people inside the house was starting to give me a headache. I dragged Luna upstairs to my room. Once I shut the door behind us, I plopped down on my bed and let out a sigh of relief.
"You look beat." Luna sat down next to me.
"I am..." I mumbled against a pillow.
I felt a shift in the bed. Then I felt Luna's fragile body curl up next to me. I turned myself so that I was now holding her close to me. "I think I'm gonna get some more rest."
"We just slept all through last night when we supposed to be awake." Luna pointed out.
"You should know by now that I'm one to sleep all through the night and wake up in the middle of the afternoon." I chuckled.
"Well, I'll let you rest, but I'm going back downstairs. I'm gonna see what's up with my little brother and your little sister."
I nodded, then released her from my arms. The last thing I remembered was her walking out the door, then everything went black.
Luna's POV
Once I made my way downstairs, I went to sit by my brother. Carmen was nowhere in sight, which was good, because I wanted to speak Griffin alone.
"Hey bud, whats up?"
"Nothing really." He responded.
"Is everything alright?"
"Yeah."
"Are you sure?"
"Luna..." He turned to look at me, no aggravated.
I held my hands up in surrender. "Just asking, geez."
My brother sighed. "I know, I know... It's just that, well... How did you react when Sapphire told you that she was basically in love with you?"
I laughed nervously. "Uh, I was shocked. But, you know how I never wanted to date any other girl who asked me out?"
Griffin nodded.
"It was because of the whole imprinting thing. The bond was so strong. it affected my social life. When we first kissed, it was like everything clicked together, like I had finally found the right girl for me." I paused thinking about the moment. "Why?" I focused on my brother again. "What's with the question?"
"Carmen told me that she imprinted on me. She basically asked me out, but I was so shocked, I just walked away from her. I still haven't given her an official answer, but I don't know what to say."
I thought for a minute. "How do you feel about her?"
"I do like her, defiantly as a friend... I'd go out with her, but I'm scared that I'll break her heart."
"It seems you already did though."
"I know, but, I don't want to date her and get her hopes up then end up crushing her in the end." I saw tears threatening to roll off his eyes.
I pulled my brother into a tight embrace. "It's okay, buddy." I cooed in his ear. "It's okay. Look, you two are still young. I think you should talk to Carmen, explain why you haven't given her an answer yet. Then, think about whether or not you'd be willing to date her some more."
"What if she hates me?"
"She doesn't hate you. Who could hate an adorable thing like you? Believe it or not, you're actually a caring guy. I know I'm your sister and I'm supposed to be saying these things, but you're a real gentleman compared to a good majority of the guys in the world."
He was silent for a while, but then he pulled away from me with a smile on his face. "Thanks, sis."
"No problem. But hey, lets keep this to ourselves. I don't want anyone else knowing that I said all those nice things to you and went all soft on you."
Griffin laughed. "No problem." He then walked off to find Carmen. I smiled to myself, and went back upstairs to Sapphire's room.
I wanted to find a way to get her back for what she did to me this morning. As I was walking up the stairs, I got an amazing idea and silently snickered to myself.
Griffin's POV
I thought about what my sister said, and walked towards Carmen's room. I knocked on the door before entering. She was sitting on her bed, typing something on her laptop.
"Hey."
"Hey." She said not taking her eyes off the computer screen.
I sighed. "Look, I'm really sorry for not answering you right away." I scratched the back of my neck. "I was just... Afraid if hurting your feelings that's all."
"Well, you ended up hurting me either way." She mumbled in a dark tone.
"Carmen, I do care for you, I really do. I have feelings for you, trust me. I jut don't want you to date me, because I'm scared that I won't be good enough, or I'll end up hurting you without meaning to."
Carmen finally looked at me. I couldn't help but to look into her grey eyes. It complemented her almost black hair.
"Griffin, I don't care. I'm willing to take that risk." She stood up, and walked over to me. We were about the same height, but I was a little taller.
"I just... I just want to think about it some more. But, no matter what, I still want to be friends. Deal?"
She thought for a while but the nodded. "Deal."
I pulled her in for a hug. Her body was so warm, not counting the fact that she was 108 degrees. Our bodies fit so perfectly together. I didn't want to let go of her, but after a while, we did pull away.
I know my feelings for her are strong, but just to be safe, I'll give myself some time before I actually make up my mind.
