---Ethan's P.O.V.---

~Five months later~

"Hey! It's Bella, slash, Bell, slash, Isa, slash, Issy, slash, Isabella."
Bella giggled. "Sorry I can't come to the phone, leave a message... BYE!"

By now, I knew the voice-mail like the back of my hand. How could I not? It's the only thing I'd heard from Bella since the accident
I groaned in frustration and despair.
It had been five months since the accident took place and four months since I last saw Bella. She had come by to tell me she was fine and to give her some space... And I had. But now I was tired. Tired of waiting.
I tried calling her again. A familiar song played whilst I waited, Starships by Nicki Minaj. I snorted at the memory; Bella hated that song, only listened to it in sarcasm.
"Hey! It's Bella, slash, Bell-" I threw my phone at the wall out of pure anger.
"Woah! What did that poor phone do to you?"
I turned around and saw Cheryl leaning against the doorway, grinning. Although she was grinning, you could see the sadness that shone from her eyes. Bella had been avoiding her as well.
"Hey." I smiled weakly.
Cheryl had been dropping by once in a while to 'check up on me'.
"So she still won't talk to you either, huh?" her grin faded away and was soon replaced with a sympathetic look.
I shook my head.
Cheryl walked over to me and pulled me in for a warm hug. I wrapped my arms around her. The hug was nothing romantic. Nothing special. Just two people who shared a mutual sorrow.
"Wow wow wow wow."  we pulled away and saw Tyler standing in the doorway. "Excuse me. That's my girl."
Cheryl rolled her eyes. "Way to spoil a moment babe."
"A moment? What moment? There was a moment?" Tyler plastered a shocked look on his face.
I swear, that dude could easily become an actor.
Cheryl rolled her eyes again as she walked over to Tyler and gave him a quick peck on the lips.
"Listen, I need to tell you guys something." Cheryl said reluctantly.
I waited for her to continue. When she didn't I rolled my eyes. "Well spit it out." I pushed her.
She bit her lip and closed her eyes. "Bella's coming back to school."
I froze. A minute passed. Cheryl opened her eyes.
Her words started to sink in.
Bella had been home-schooled for the rest of the year. I had gone an entire summer without her. I was slowly dying inside. I had had short flings with heaps of girls but none of those worked out... They weren't Bella.
"What?"
"Yeah apperantly her aunt thought it's time for her to..." she seemed to be looking for a correct way to put what she was about to say. "socialize with people in school."
"Wait, how do you know that? I thought she wasn't talking to any of us." I narrowed my eyes at her.
"Her aunt called me." Cheryl blurted out "she said something about Bella being difficult and was hoping that we could like, help her. Of course I said yes! I mean, she's still our friend and all, even if she's been ignoring us for months. Even you haven't dated properly since her so I figure you still love her and..." she trailed off and bit her lip again. "I'm rambling."
I laughed for the first time in months.
A small spark of hope kindled inside of me. Bella was coming back.

---Bella's P.O.V.---

"Ísabella, í guðanna bænum, drífðu þig! [Isabella, for god's sake, hurry up!]" my aunt shouted from downstairs.
I rolled my eyes and slowly continued putting on my red lipstick.
"Ísabella!" my aunt barged in my room.
"Jeez! Ever heard of privacy?" I snapped at her.
"Þú hefur ekkert þegar þú ert að verða sein í skólann. [You don't have any when you're late to school.]" Anna replied as she stuck her tongue out.
"I don't talk Icelandic anymore Anna." I stuck my tongue out towards her.
"Er það, já? [Oh, really?]" she raised her eyebrow.
"Whatever just get out of my room, you're the one who said I was gonna be late."
"Oh so you understand now?" she smiled. She could be extremely threatening if she wanted to.
Anna was my aunt, that is, my mother's younger sister. She had lived in Iceland for most of her life and when my grandparents moved to America she stayed behind. She was twenty eight years old and a spitting image of my mother. Blonde hair, blue eyes.
I rolled my eyes again and turned back to my mirror. I had just gotten brown hightlights so my hair was now more brown than golden. Totally felt like Ashley Greene.
"Fine! Þú labbar. [You'll walk.]" With that being said, Anna snapped my car keys out of my purse and stormed out of my room.
"What?!" I cried out.
No answer.
I groaned, walked over to my purse and started browsing through it.
I smiled as I found what I was looking for.
I picked up my phone and ignored the missed calls I had from Ethan. God, he was so needy.
No he isn't. A small voice whispered inside my head. I shook my head and focused on finding the right contact.
I grinned.
"Hey Brandon." I said with a sugar sweet voice. "Could you do me a favour?"
Who needs their own car anyways?

I arrived at school and bit my lip. I hadn't been to this place for ages.
"Here we are." Brandon stated, cheerfully.
"Thanks babe." I leaned forward on his motorcyle and kissed his cheek.
"Anytime." he grinned. "Call me?"
"Maybe." I winked him as I got off his motorcycle and adjusted my red leather jacket.
"Okay well, bye." he sounded disappointed.
I blew him a kiss before I turned around and walked towards the door to my personal hell.
Right before I walked in I pinched myself in my arm. Nope. Still don't feel anything.
I walked with confident towards my last class before lunch. Brandon and I had took a ride before he dropped me off here, hence my late presence.
I pushed the door to biology class open. The whole class went quiet as they took in my apperance.
I was wearing ripped skinny black jeans, black tanktop, a push-up bra, black stilettos and of course my red leather jacket.
I tilted my head to the right and smirked. "Hi."
"Miss..." the teacher seemed to be searching for something on his desk. Probably a note with my name on it.
I didn't regonize him so I figured he was new here.
"Johnson." I said quickly. "Isabella Johnson, former student who now came back." I added with an angel voice.
"Right! Miss Johnson." I glanced towards the student and saw the guys checking me out and the girls sending me glares. "You're late."
I focused my attention towards the teacher again. "I know." I simply said. "Where's my seat?"
The teacher looked taken back and couple of the guys chuckled.
"Uh- just sit in the back." he shook his head and the next words came with more athority. "Next to Mr. Baker."
I froze for a second. I didn't know he was in this class. I snapped out of it and simply nodded.
As I walked towards my new seat I heard the whispers.
She looks hot.
Oh my gosh, her shoes!
You know Ethan and her used to date?
They broke up after her parent's death.
Apperantly, she's been fooling around with random guys all summer.
The last one made me smirk. Word travels fast.
I sat down.
"Hey." Ethan said quietly.
I took a deep breathe before I turned to him, smiling. "Hey." I answered softly before turning away.
He looked good. His tan had gotten a tad darker and his green eyes were sparkling.
"Long time, no see." he stated.
I didn't answer.
"You couldn't just call...?" he continued.
Still no answer.
"Damn it Bella." he shouted.
The teacher, along with the entire class, turned around and stared at us with surprise. I sighed before I started sobbing, loudly. "What did I do?" I shouted.
Ethan stared at me, shocked. I turned towards him and winked him.
The teacher came running to us. "Miss Johnson what happened?" he hushed me.
"H-he-he's HARASSING me!" I forced the tears out of my eyes.
"Mr. Baker! Detention!"
"Mr. Hartley you can't be serious! She's faking it!" Ethan's anger boiled inside him as he stood up.
"Mr. Baker!" Mr. Hartley warned him.
"Bella are you fucking serious?" Ethan turned his anger towards me.
"Stop swearing!" I cried out.
Ethan looked like he was about to say something when the bell rang. I jumped up and wiped the tears quickly. Thank god for waterproof mascara, I CAN NOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH!
"I'm all good now. Thanks Mr. Hartley!" I said cheerfully as I hurried outside the classroom, knowing that every single pair of eyes were on me.

Did you hear what she did in biology? It was so awesome.
Bitch.
You should've seen it.
Poor Ethan.
I love her jacket.
Wonder who she'll sit with?
Cute shoes.
Bitch.

I chuckled as I made my way towards the waiting line in lunch.
Suddenly a blonde head popped up. "Hey! Isabella, right?" she didn't wait for an answer. "I'm Lauren."
I tilted my head to the right as I took in the girl standing in front of me. She was one of the 'it' girls. A cheerleader, to be exact.
I smiled the coldest smile I could pull off. "Bella."
"Great! Listen, do you want to sit with us?" Again, she didn't wait for an answer but pulled me towards her table. "Bella meet Jamie, Camila, Elle and Abby." she pointed at each head.
"Hey." I greeted.
The girls eyed me as I stood there, quite amused. Once they were done checking whether I was 'worthy' of their presence they greeted me with a satisfied smirk on their face.
I shook my head out of amusement before I sat down between Jamie and Camila. I guess they'd do as my lunch buddies.
"You have the prettiest hair ever!" Camila exclaimed.
"Yeah and your eyes." Elle gushed out.
"Guys," Jamie began before I could answer my compliments with sarcasm. "Hot alert." she pointed towards a table, two tables away. Did that make sense?
I turned around in my seat and saw Ethan, Tyler, Danny and Justin. I rolled my eyes as I turned back to my salad.
"They're not that hot."
"Excuse me? Girl, did you hit your head or something?" Jamie's intense brown eyes were pointed towards me.
"Yeah Bella, those guys are hot." Abby said like I was slow or something.
"Meh." I shrugged my shoulders. "They're okay."
"Bella, Danny's hot, Justin's gorgeous, Tyler is just yum and Ethan is like a Greek god or something." Lauren explained to me, stressing every word.
"Wait, what did you say your last name is?" Camila asked me before I could answer.
"Johnson."
"Oh.My.God." Camila threw her hands at me and started shaking me. "You used to date Ethan." she exclaimed.
"Ow!" I cried out, even though I felt nothing. "Yeah? So?" I rubbed my arms as Camila started hitting the table out of excitement.
"So?" Abby asked with shock. "Bella. Ethan is hot." sadness crept to her face. "Do you have brain damage? 'Cause if you do, it's totally fine! My cousin-"
"I don't have brain damage." I hissed.
"Bella you don't have to hide it, it's okay to-"
"I don't have brain damage!" I repeated, quite loudly.
"Nah, she's just a great actress." a deep, husky voice appeared behind me.
Silence struck the table as I put on a smirk and turned, once again, in my seat. Here we go.
"Shouldn't you be in detention or something?" I asked, fake sweetness dripping from my voice.
"Actually, it starts after school today." Ethan replied politely.
"Oh! After school detention?" I put on a pout. "Aw man, that must suck." I put the coldhearted smile I'd been using so frequently for the past few months.
Ethan glared at me. "What are you trying to pull?"
Somewhere inside my stomach a tingling feeling took place. No. I can't feel anything. "Nothing." I said sweetly as I stood up. "Just showing sympathy for a very dear friend of mine." I stressed the word 'friend'.
Ethan moved in closer until our bodies were basically pressed together. There was a time when that would have sent sparks throughout my entire body but now, all it did was bring back hurtful memories I had worked so hard on keeping numb.
"Oh yeah? So we're just friends then, are we?" he whispered as he ran his lips over my face, leaving a trail of soft kisses.
I closed my eyes before opening my mouth to speak. "Unless you do friends with benefit." I whispered back with former coldness spiked in my voice.
I opened my eyes and saw his staring at me with surprise before he smirked. "Is that an offer?" his inner player instincts shone through as he spoke.
Little did he know, I'd grown into quite the player myself. "Only if you can handle it." I smirked, right back.
He stared at me as I watched all the rage he had had for me in the beginning of the conversation fly away to be replaced with a mixture of shock and amusement.
"Sorry for interrupting the little sexual tension you got going on here." I looked to my right and saw Cheryl and Shannon standing there. "But I believe it's my turn." Cheryl smiled the bitchy smile she somtimes used.
I rolled my eyes. I totally forgot she had an inner bitch. "Sure." I stepped back from Ethan. "Bye ladies." I blew a kiss towards my new lunch buddies who all sat there, stunned. Well, except for Jamie who was still grinning from the little show Ethan and I had set up.
Shaking the thought of 'Ethan and I' from my head, I followed Cheryl, who was basically dragging Shannon, out of the cafeteria.
"What's this about?" I folded my arms across my chest and leaned against some locker.
"What's this about?" Cheryl copied me with anger in her voice.
I raised my eyebrows, waiting for her to continue.
"Bella we miss you." Shannon said quietly.
I got a sudden ache in my heart, hearing those words coming from her. Shannon who was my first friend in this school. Shannon who was funny, smart, crazy, beautiful etc. Shannon who was always there for me and was now trying to be there for me now, even though I spent the entire summer trying to avoid them all.
"Yeah and not to mention, your total bitch act towards Ethan this morning." Cheryl stated impatiently before raising her eyebrows and smirking. "Although you seemed to have worked that out, didn't you?"
"I don't know what you're talking about." I smiled. "And if I remember correctly, I've moved on."
Cheryl snorted sarcastically. "Sure."
I sighed, dropping all the act for the first time in months. "Look, what do you want from me?"
Cheryl's eyes widened at my sudden vulnerability. "I-I-I-" she stuttered.
"We want you to talk to us!" Shannon threw her hands in the air. "Ever since you parents died" I flinched but she ignored it "you've avoided us and we're worried! It's not healthy to shut everyone out like that."
"Oh so I can let my guards down and get hurt again, is that it?" I asked flatly.
"N-no." Shannon eyes widened the same way Cheryl's had a couple seconds ago.
"Then what?" I shouted before lowering my voice and returning to my previous cold state. "You may miss me but I don't miss you guys. I'm fine. I'm more than fine. I'm a new me. It's pathetic how all of you keep holding on to the old one 'cause she's not coming back. She's not coming back."
With that being said I stormed away and returned to my lunch table.
"What was that about?" Jamie asked me quietly.
I was starting to like that girl.
I rolled my eyes before answering. "Just some pathetic girls I used to be friends with."
The whole table laughed at my cold words before returning to their conversation about that really hot guy they saw last night at the movies. I don't even know.
