After the delightful encounter with Levi, the emotional exhaustion was gradually beginning to settle in. To be quite honest, you just wanted to be alone; it wasn't exactly fun to be constantly berated with questions.

"Hey, y/n!" Petra called after you. "Wait up!"

"What?" You asked, your voice still notably tense. "I'm sort of busy right now."

She caught up with you, panting. "I hope the Captain didn't give you too bad of a scolding; I swear that he's not usually this stern..."

You rolled your eyes. The kiss-assery was obvious among the jumbled words; did she have a crush on him?

"Petra, forgive me for asking, but do you have feelings for Levi?"

Petra reddened. "M-me? L-l-like the Captain?!"

"It's plain to see that you admire him greatly," you said bluntly. "If you feel something more, just tell him. I'm sure it couldn't hurt."

"I-I don't know..."

"I would imagine that Levi doesn't exactly have many women pining after him. Besides, what is he going to do? Yell at you for confessing?" You were trying to be sympathetic to Petra; she seemed to be troubled with her feelings, and it hurt you to see her like this. Plus, maybe Levi would learn some manners from her, should he court her.

She looked down apprehensively, dragging the tips of her shoes through the dirt. "I mean.... I guess I could..."

"What in the world, are you two doing?" A stern voice broke the peaceful nature of the conversation.

Speak of the devil.

Levi glared at you, the impact of his boots leaving a trail of dents in the mud behind him. "I told you to go meet me for training in the fields thirty minutes ago. What the hell have you doing this entire time?"

Glaring at him, you glanced haughtily to the side. "I've been talking to one of our comrades; I apologize that I didn't have the absolute pleasure of hearing you bark orders at me."

Levi's eyes flashed menacingly, suddenly filled with a newfound fury. He marched up closer to you, gripping your wrist with an intense strength.

"H-hey, watch it!" You yelped out in pain from the pressure. "That fucking hurts, you idiot!"

"Just because you're an amnesiac doesn't give you the right to shout at me. I am your superior." He said lowly. "You will listen to what I say, and right now, we're going to train.

Levi jerked your body forward, your legs dragging precariously through the grass.

"W-wait-! Levi, I can walk on my own-!"

Unfortunately, your pleas were drowned out in Levi's ears, the dirt now piling up in clumps on your boots. Your wrists? Still pulsing from the abuse it had received just moments prior to your apparent abduction.

"Shut up!" He growled at you. "This is what happens when you don't listen, y/n."

By the time that Levi had finally let go of your arm, it was already furiously red and bruised.

"W-what was that for?! You didn't have to drag me all the way to the fields yourself!"

Although you were pissed, Levi's actions had made your face flushed.

Wait... Your face was flushed? Were you into being dragged by short angry men or something? What the hell?

You glanced at Levi, who was sitting on a stone bench. His dark hair was plastered to his red face, beads of sweat dotting his forehead. For some reason, he looked... Endearing? You weren't exactly sure why he looked that way, considering he acted like a spoiled child half the time.

He made a face. "What're you staring at, weirdo?"

You turned your head, trying to seem indifferent. "N-nothing..."

Levi rolled his eyes and stood up, walking to a large wooden structure sitting nearby intimidatingly. "Whatever. Just stop doing it; staring is rude, you know?"

Hah... how ironic.

"So, Levi? What did you mean by training? I feel like it's too late to try and teach me swordsmanship..."

"Since all you've been is a hindrance to my squad, I've decided to train you so you could help us fight. Even though you're really annoying, I'd be... troubled if I were to lose another comrade, friend or not."

The sentimental tone of Levi's words was jarring; after all, it wasn't a usual for him to be speaking such grief-filled words. It was... humanizing, in a way.

"Anyway," He cleared his throat and pointed to a wooden structure,"please put on that harness."

"What is it?"

Levi walked over to the harness hanging in the center of the structure, and fiddled with some of the straps. "This is called Vertical Maneuvering Equipment, or as most people call it,  3DMG. To get a better advantage over the Titans, we use 3DMG to get around any 3D structures near the Titan to kill it more easily. This 3DMG simulator will help you get used to using the real thing."

You looked at the harness, a bit worried and confused at the same time. Levi's description gave you a little insight on the topic of the Titans, but you still couldn't fully grasp that people actually used this crazy equipment.

Shooting lines out of those huge-ass metal boxes at high speeds and heights? No thanks.

"Are you sure this thing is safe?" You asked timidly as Levi tightened the harness to fit your waist. "This seems sort of scary."

He scoffed. "Of course it is."

Oh thank god....

Levi pulled on the ropes to make your feet rise off the ground. "That is.... Unless a Titan grabs you."

"Great."

The harness, despite securing you to the wooden structure, made you feel as if you were falling, with nothing behind nor in front of you. You teetered backwards, and did an accidental backflip. You expected to hit your head on the hard dirt below, but nothing happened.

Instead, a pair of arms reached underneath your shoulders, and holding you safely in place.

"Can't have you catching amnesia again, now can we?" Levi taunted bluntly, clearly unamused.

You reddened. "Y-you didn't have to do that! I'm sure I would've been fine."

"You don't have to be so ungrateful, y/n. Not everyone is so eager to spin to their death, but I won't judge your choices." He released your shoulders, releasing you from the burden of his touch. Unfortunately, this also meant that you were now at the mercy of gravity once again.

You shrieked, flying backward in the harness while Levi watched, a mocking grin plastered on his face.

"Levi, get me down from here!"

He smirked. "Sure thing," Levi said, letting go of the rope and releasing the harness. You promptly fell on your head with a loud thump as a result, sending shock waves of pain through your body.

"Ugh... What the fuck happened to me catching amnesia again?"

Levi, who was already bounds away from the machine, let out a shrill laugh. "That's why you listen to your superior, y/n. I don't want to hear orders from you ever again."

You rubbed your neck, which was still screaming in pain.

This asshole...

I hope you guys don't leave meeeeeeeeee

jk jk

but still

A/N: My goal for the end of this book is to have 1K reads at the most, and hopefully a lot of comments! Let's see if I can make it to twenty chapters to end this story!

edited on 5/23/20

hello demons, it's me, ya boi. I finally finished with school and ap testing, so I should be free a little more than I was before. I do have summer classes to take, but gratefully because of quarantine, I don't actually have to go to physical classes this semester.

this chapter was a little hard to edit because of the shit pacing I gave this story, but ya know? we just vibin ig. Again, I'm not trying to change anything crazy as that would just be waayy too much work for my lazy ass + some people hate slow burn fics, so I'm not gonna do anything drastic. I am going to change Petra's character that's portrayed, just because I don't like how angry she is in the story when she just admires Levi as a captain :( I had a bad habit of hating girls I found attractive back when I was a closeted piece of shit. Not gonna get into it but yeah. Lol. Petra will be good girl, or at least misunderstood girl.

sorry for the long update, but I hope the edit cleaned the chapter up a bit! Any changes are good imo so

thanks <3
