Chapter sixteen: Pool Party
"You wanted to go swimming too, yeah?" He smirked, looking at me.
"Don't you dare!" I yelled. "SIMON!"
He laughed, and went to drop me in the pool, however I managed to grab onto his arm, and he toppled in too. We both rose to the surface, laughing. Simon shook the water out of his hair, and I watched as the tiny droplets of water sprayed everywhere, some of them hitting me in the face.
"Hey!" I complained, splashing him back playfully, and then ducking under the water before he could retaliate.
I swam over to where JJ was bobbing around in the water, watching us in amusement, and hid behind him. He chuckled at me.
"Hide me!" I yelled laughing.
Simon swam over to us lazily.
"Hey man," smirked JJ. "How's it going?"
"Are you harbouring a fugitive?" Asked Simon.
"What? Uh, no," replied JJ. "Sorry, we only sell lemonade." (A/N: lol this legitimately just popped into my head when I was writing haha)
"What?" Simon looked confused.
"Oh my gosh Jide," I burst out laughing. "I remember that!"
"The duck song, yeah?" He chuckled.
"Oh, right," laughed Simon. "Those videos are so old now!"
I splashed Simon again, whilst he was distracted, and he turned on me.
"Hey!" He yelled.
"Is for horses," I replied, giggling. I turned, and climbed out of the pool, and stood looking at him. "Come at me, peasant!"
Simon gave JJ a shove out of the way, and JJ ducked under water, chuckling. He swam off to the other side of the pool.
"Jordyyyyyyy it's cold," sighed Simon. "Are you really gonna make me get out of the pool again?"
"Hey, it's your revenge," I stated. "No one's making you do anything."
Simon began to climb out of the pool, but as he did so, I dived neatly over his head, and into the water again. I resurfaced, and turned, only to see he was right behind me.
"Gotcha," he smirked, grabbing me before I could do anything, and picking me up like a baby.
"No no no Simon I'm sorry I splashed you have mercy on my soul!" I yelled.
"I don't think so," he retorted.
I squirmed, and pushed against his bare chest, trying to escape, but he had a tight grip on me, and only chuckled at my attempts.
"Hmm, what were you saying earlier about muscles?" He asked.
"Alright, stop flexing," I giggled. "We all know you totally fancy yourself."
"You're not making this any better for yourself are you," he laughed.
He threw me up in the air, and I splashed back into the water like a cannon ball. Then after a moment, I felt him grab my hand, and pull me to the surface again. I looked at him, and grinned.
"Truce?" He smiled.
"Truce," I nodded. "Now let's go get Jide."
Tobi and Ethan finally joined us, and we spent hours messing around in the pool. The water was beautifully warm, and once we'd run out of energy to fight each other with, we were all floating on our backs, and talking.
"Would love to get a pool at the house," sighed JJ. "But it would have to be outside, so it would be freezing."
"And we'd never swim in it enough to warrant the cost of putting it in," said Simon. "This is nice though."
"You guys know you're welcome here whenever," smiled Tobi. "And by that I mean girls as well," he added, after thinking a bit.
We all laughed.
"I knew what you meant," I smiled. "90% of my friends are guys anyway, so 'guys' just becomes an all inclusive term."
"It's because you're a gamer, and you play a lot of sport, and you're not really a girly girl, you know what I mean?" Said Tobi. "You just fit in, you're one of the guys."
"Thanks Tobi," I smiled. "It's weird - you know I never thought I could think of anywhere but Australia as my home, but I feel like I'm at home now."
"It's people who make a home," said Ethan. Then he laughed. "Maybe this is your home away from home."
Joining in with Ethan's laughter was always inevitable. We all chuckled at him, not because the comment was particularly funny, but at the fact that he found himself amusing.
"Maybe you've just grown up Jordy," said Simon quietly.
I smiled, knowing what he was referring to. I stretched out my arms in the water, until my fingers touched the tip of his. He twisted his hand, and pulled me lightly towards him, grasping into my fingers tightly. I listened absently to the conversation the other guys were having. I felt Simon playing with my fingers, until eventually, he pulled too hard, and I overbalanced in the water. I stood up, releasing my grip on his hand. I glanced at him and he shot me a smile.
"Think I'm gonna head home to bed guys, before I fall asleep in the water," I stated.
"Want to use my shower before you go?" Offered Tobi.
"Nah, it's cool, I didn't bring clothes anyway," I stated. "I'll just dry off here, and then drive home. But thanks anyway Tobi."
"Welcome," he smiled.
I rubbed my skin dry with my towel, and then put my hoodie on to keep warm. I sat at the pool's edge to wait until I'd drip dried somewhat before getting in my car. The other guys had begun to play around in the water again. Simon waded through the water towards me, and stood in front of where I was sitting cross legged.
"Hey you," I smiled, poking him on the cheek.
"Hey you," he replied, returning my smile. He put his hands on my knees as I sat cross legged, and looked at me. "What you doing tomorrow?" He asked.
I shrugged.
"Just Minecraft videos, and GTA obviously. Oh, and soccer training. You can come with if you're bored. You should meet my team, they're all sick. One or two of them are sidemen fans as well, so they knew me, and it was awkward because I had to explain who I was to my coach, who had no idea."
Simon laughed.
"I'll be bored tomorrow, definitely, so sounds like a good plan," he said.
"Why? What are you doing tomorrow?" I asked, taking his hands in mine, and playing with them.
"The usual," he smiled. "FIFA, GTA, and a random game, plus another FIFA if I can be bothered to do it."
At this moment, Josh and Freya, obviously returning from their walk, entered the pool room. Jide, Tobi, and Ethan, who were up that end of the pool, swam to the edge to greet them, and tease them about how cute they were. They were asking for it, to be fair. Freya had on Josh's hoodie, and they had their arms wrapped around each other.
"They are so cute," Simon smiled, turning away from them to look at me again.
"I know, right," I grinned. "I think I almost ship them more than Four and Tris."
"Who are they?" Asked Simon, laughing.
I stared at him.
"You haven't seen Divergent?" I asked him incredulously.
"No, never," he replied. "Heard that it was good though."
"Come on," I stated, releasing his hands, and standing up. "Get out of the pool, we are watching this right now."
"RIP sleeping schedule," he laughed, climbing out. "I'm only watching it if you watch Inception with me."
"Our sleeping schedule is retarded anyway," I pointed out. "Wait, Inception? Never seen it."
"No, and you need to, because it's my favourite movie," he said.
I rolled my eyes smiling.
"Whatever."
We yelled goodbye to the other guys, and after Simon had dried off, we headed home to my house.
