Normal P.O.V
The three boys walked down the hallway, the lights flickering now and then.
They stopped infront of the door, taking note of all the protective seals covering it. The only part that wasn't covered was the door handles.
One of the boys gulped nervously before taking hold of the handle. He tried to open it, but it was locked.
Suddenly, someone put their hand on his shoulder, startling him. He turned around quickly to see his friend.
"Oi, let's hurry up and go." Yamanaka said as his other buddy behind him nodded. "Yeah, we'll get in trouble if the army finds out." Yamanaka started to walk towards the exit. "Lets go, Yuji" He said.
Yuji turned back towards the door. He shook his head and began to follow his friends towards the exit. The sound of the door behind him opening startled him, causing him to turn around.
He stared into the dark abyss, hearing the voices of unknown creatures calling his name...
Calling out for his heart and soul to be swallowed up by the darkness.....
Forever....
* Timeskip: A few hours later*
Mayu's P.O.V
"Oi, baka-Yuu! I got us something for lun...!!" I started to say, until I saw that Yuu wasn't alone. I darted behind the wall quickly, hoping that I wasn't seen. I took a quick peek. He was with the girl that we had saved from the vampire. She looked kind of embarrassed.
"What's she doing here?"
The girl fidgeted a bit, looking at the ground. "U-Um...thank you for saving me from the vampire the other day." She said, blushing. Yuu nodded. "Yeah..." He said as he scratched the back of his head.
Suddenly, the girl held up a small envelop. "I-I really like you! Please read this and see how I feel!" She exclaimed, her cheeks turning a darker shade of pink. I dropped the bag I was holding in my hands.
"W-Wha...WHAT?!!"
I covered my mouth, getting the sudden feeling of nausea. My knees started to feel weak, like they were made out of jello. My heart was also pounding to the point that it hurt.
"W-What is this feeling suddenly....?!"
My eyes widened in realization, causing my face to heat up.
"No way...! Don't tell me...that I'm jealous!! I can't be jealous!! Yuu-kun is my best friend, he's like a brother to me...right..?"
Yuu took the letter from the girl, who immediately ran off afterwards. She was about to close the door, when she bumped into me. We stood and stared at each other for a little while.
"Thanks for helping me as well." She said before running down the stairs. "You're welcome....I guess..." I said as I picked up mine and Yuu's lunch off the floor.
"So, it looks like you got yourself a girlfriend." I teased, startling Yuu. He blushed and shoved the letter into his pocket. "It's not like that at all! I was actually going to tell her that I couldn't accept it..." He said.
I frowned. "Awww, why not? She obviously likes you, Yuu-kun." I said as I handed him a sandwich. "I...I know she likes me. But, I can't except her feelings...because...I..." Yuu said, turning away from me.
I tilted my head, trying to get a better look at his face. "Because....?" I asked, giving him a cheeky grin. I heard him mumble something under his breath. "What did ya say? I didn't quite here that!" I said, causing Yuu to sigh in frustration.
"It's because I like someone else...." I heard him mumble. I froze.
"He likes someone else?! Is it Shinoa-chan...? No, of course not! It can't be...right?"
I swallowed the lump in my throat. "Oh really now! And who might that lucky girl or boy be?" I giggled. He turned to me. "You did not just say what I think you just said!" He exclaimed as I bursted into laughter.
"Sorry, sorry! So, who is that person anyway?" I giggled. Suddenly, Yuu grabbed me by my shoulders, causing me to look up at him. He was blushing pretty badly.
"Wait....what...?"
Yuu swallowed nervously. "M-Mayu....I...I..." He started to say, my heart starting to beat faster.
"W-What's happening?! Why is my heart beating so fast right now?!"
"Well now! I hope I'm not interrupting you two!" A voice emitted from the staircase behind us. We blushed and separated from each other.
"As expected, Mr. Hero who saved the school from the vampire is pretty popular with the girls." Shinoa said as she walked up to us. She looked over at Yuu, who just rolled his eyes and turned away.
"Are you gonna break her heart next?" She asked. "What do you mean by "next"? I haven't even done anything like that." Yuu said. I looked down at my shoes.
Shinoa giggled. "I suppose, since you are a cherry-boy." Yuu blushed in embarrassment and I couldn't help but giggle. "Shut up you!" He grumbled.
"I-I'm sorry...I can't help but laugh....!" I said between giggles. Shinoa turned towards me. "You don't really have much to laugh about either, Mayu-san. I bet your just as much of a virgin as Yuu - san is." I stopped laughing, my face turning red.
"Why that little....!!!!"
"You know you guys, virginity is "evil"." Shinoa said, looking at the scenery behind the fence.
"What does she mean by that?"
"After all, we, the Japanese Imperial Demon Army, encourage people to hook-up everyday." Shinoa said, turning back to us. Yuu and I looked at her curiously.
"The world ended once. Because of an unknown virus, causing monsters to suddenly swarm the earth, killing many people." Shinoa said as she pointed out to the city. "Past those walls are ruins and wastelands crawling with monsters. This world is no longer human-friendly."
I looked out at the city, feeling sad. I remembered all the places I used to go with my parents, my old school, the people that I used to know...they were all just...gone.
"However, we, the Japanese Imperial Demon Army, will gather the remnants of humanity, multiply, and take over the whole world!" Shinoa said, starting to skip around alittle.
"Now, give birth! Breed! Hurrah for elicit sexual relations!" She exclaimed. I gave her a weird look.
"Now hold on a sec! You expect us to go out, find someone to date, and to have kids, just like that? If you don't mind me saying, I think that's just a little too...early for my taste." I said, Shinoa turned towards Yuu and I. She gave us a mischievous grin.
"Well then. If you two don't want to go out with other people, why don't the two of you go out. I bet you both will have the cutest kids together." Shinoa said, causing me to almost fall over.
"W.....W.....WHHAAATT!!!!!"
At that moment, I could have sworn somebody lit my face on fire. "Y-You can't be serious!!" Yuu exclaimed, his face just as red as mine. I nodded furiously. "Y-Yeah, we're both still in high school!! And, Yuu-kun already likes someone else!!" I said, still trying to tame my blush.
Shinoa giggled mischievous. Yuu cleared his throat, still blushing from Shinoa's little comment.
"Anyway, I have a question to ask." Shinoa turned towards Yuu curiously. "My talent was recognized from that incident with the vampire, and I was assigned to the Vampire Extermination Unit, right?" He asked. Shinoa nodded.
"So, why am I still going to this highschool?" He asked. "Well, you can express complaints like that to the Lieutenant colonel." Shinoa stated bluntly, causing Yuu to scowl.
"Uh-oh....well, this isn't gonna go well..."
"That stupid Guren is never in his office! How am I gonna complain to him?!" Yuu asked, starting to lose patience. "It won't do any good if you yell at me about the Lieutenant colonel." Shinoa stated. Yuu sighed.
"Besides, the training for the Extermination Unit has already begun." Shinoa said as she reached into her pocket. "The training that'll allow you to obtain what you really want." She said, showing us what looked like a mix between a pen and a key.
"What is that?..."
"What I truly want.....?" Yuu asked as Shinoa began twirling the pen looking object in her hand. "This is what you truly want, right?" She asked, continuing to twirl the object between her fingers.
Suddenly, this black-orange mass started to emit from the pen looking object, causing me to back up a little.
"What the hell is this over powering demonic aura?! Wait! Don't tell me that's a....!"
The big fiery mass took form, turning into a demon. "Th-Thats..." Yuu mumbled as the demon let out a loud growl. Shinoa smiled.
"This is the demon that I made a contract with: Shikama Douji." The demon opened its mouth, the edge of a black and green blade sticking out. The demon disappeared, leaving behind a huge scythe.
"Whoa!!! That is an awesome weapon!!!"
"I wanted you both to see this." Shinoa said as she showed the both of us her scythe. "So, this is the Cursed Gear that can kill vampires with its curse?" Yuu asked as he tried to touch the weapon infront of us, but Shinoa quickly pulled it away.
"I am, after all, a member of the Vampire Extermination Unit." Shinoa stated. "If I have that, then I can kill vampires on my own..." Yuu mumbled. He looked like he was contemplating on something.
"He better not be thinking...what I think he's thinking..."
Shinoa frowned. "You can't on your own. You need to start learning what teamwork---" Suddenly, Yuu drew his sword, pointing it at Shinoa. "Shinoa. Gimme that weapon. I'm gonna use that and get revenge on those vampires." Yuu challenged. I turned to him.
"Are you kidding me right now?! First of all, What the hell is a normal weapon gonna do against a Cursed Gear? Second of all, Are you really that stupid, or is your ego that big that you think that you can do anything?" I asked, crossing my arms.
Yuu was going to argue back, but Shinoa's laughter cut him off. "You can't use a Cursed Gear of a demon that somebody has already made a contract with." Yuu smirked. "Then show me the power of that gear." He said as he charged at Shinoa. I gritted my teeth.
"That damn fool....!!"
"Jeez." Shinoa mumbled as she got into a defensive position. Yuu went to hit her with his sword, but Shinoa quickly blocked his attack, causing him to fly backwards. Yuu quickly regained his balance as Shinoa took her turn to charge at him.
She swung her scythe at Yuu as he tried to block all her attacks. Every attack he blocked caused him to stumble backwards even more.
"Dammit...I need to do something..."
The last swing from her scythe sent Yuu crashing into the fence, causing me to quickly get between them. I quickly grabbed the gun I got from Yuu (that I had decided to keep on me at all times since the vampire attack) out of my pocket and pointed it at Shinoa.
"THATS ENOUGH! I WON'T LET THIS CONTINUE ANY LONGER!" I shouted, putting my finger on trigger. Of course, I wasn't going to pull it. I only hand my finger on it as a warning.
Shinoa looked at me curiously. "Are you really going to get in the middle of this, Mayu-san?" She asked, I nodded. "Of course I am. I can't sit here and watch anymore of this." I said, keeping my eyes on the girl infront of me.
I smiled. "If you want...you can go ahead and test some of that power out on me." I said, startling her. She laughed a little. "You know that you can't beat a Cursed Gear using a normal gear, Mayu-san." Shinoa reminded me.
"I realize that. But, I'm not just gonna sit and watch my family get pushed around. No matter how stupid they may act at times." I said, lowering my gun.
Shinoa smiled. Then she got serious. "Shi-chan." She called as she swung her scythe. Suddenly, the demon was charging at me full force, letting out a loud growl. I tensed, feeling my heart starting to speed up.
"Alright Mayu! Get ready to dodge."
Before I could dodge the demons attack, I felt someone push me out of the way, causing my to fall to the ground. I quickly turned around to see Yuu pushed into the fence, which was now all bent out of place.
I quickly got off the ground and ran over to him, helping him off the fence. "Why the hell did you do that, you moron?!" I asked as he looked at me in disbelief. "I should be asking you the same thing! You go on and on about me being a moron, but here you are being a moron yourself! You hypocrite!" Yuu argued.
I crossed my arms. "I am not a hypocrite!" I exclaimed in frustration. Yuu just rolled his eyes. "Whatever you say shortstack." I was so half tempted to push him back into that fence.
"Why you.....!!"
I heard Shinoa clear her throat, causing me to turn towards her. "Are you two done arguing yet?" She asked as she spun her scythe again, causing it to turn back into the pen looking object. I sighed.
"Yup." I said as I headed towards the door. I couldn't help but look back at Shinoa and smile.
"Still. That....was awesome!!"
*Timeskip: In the hallway.*
"Anyway, if you have that gear, a vampire shouldn't be a match for you." Yuu stated as Shinoa shook her head. "Oh no, they're armed as well." She said, catching me off guard alittle.
"So vampires have weapons as well? I guess it kinda figures though."
"They're also not like the unarmed vampire that you and Mayu-san fought the other day." Yuu looked over at Shinoa in surprise. "Armed? Seriously?" Shinoa nodded. "That's why Lieutenant colonel Guren is stressing teamwork so you can move a first unit." She said.
I paused as I heard footsteps approaching us at full speed. "H-Help me! Yuu-kun, Mayu-chan!" Yoichi exclaimed as he quickly hid behind us. I looked behind me, and then back down the hallway.
"Yoichi-san!" Somebody was shouting from down the hallway. I sighed.
"Don't tell me he's being bullied again? I swear, bullies just never learn, do they?"
"What is it, Yoichi? Are you being bullied again?" Yuu asked, sounding really bored. I smirked and cracked my knuckles. "Heh, don't worry Yoichi-kun. I'll teach 'em a lesson for messin' with ya." I said as the people who were chasing Yoichi turned the corner.
I sighed.
"It's that Yamanaka jerk again."
Yamanaka stopped infront of us, trying to catch his breath. "Please wait, Yoichi-san." Yamanaka pleaded after he finally caught his breath. "We apologize for bullying you, for real, so please make us your disciples." His buddy next to him said. I looked over at the both of them in confusion.
"Wait...diciples? What on Earth is he blabbering about? And hold on a second...wasn't there supposed to be three of these guys?"
"W-W-Wait , I really, um, I can't be someone like that! I just can't be!" Yoichi exclaimed as he came out of hiding. Yamanaka looked at Yuu and I in excitement.
"Oh! Hello Boss! Hello Madame!" He exclaimed, catching us off guard.
"W-What the...did he just call me "Madame"?!"
"I'm Yamanaka! Satoshi Yamanaka, the one you saved from the vampire!" Yamanaka exclaimed again. "Boss?" Yuu mumbled as Shinoa leaned against the stairs railing. She looked like she wanted to leave.
"My, you two seem to have gotten a lot of friends lately. I feel kind left out." Shinoa said, sounding like she was bored. Yuu didn't say anything. He just looked at her and then quickly turned back towards Yamanaka.
"Anyway, just the other day, you guys were bullying Yoichi. How could you possibly ask him to make you his disciples?" Yuu asked, causing the two to look in the opposite direction.
"Th-That's true, but right now, we need your guys's help bad." Yamanaka said, sounding very troubled.
Yuu chuckled. "So just like that, you'd bow your head and ask for help from a guy that you bullied? Delinquents these days have no pride at all." Yuu stated as Shinoa let out a soft giggle.
"Yuu-san, you sound so patronizing ." Shinoa said sarcastically. Yuu glared at her. Yamanaka looked down at the ground nervously. "We know we have no right to ask when we did such things, but...." He said, taking a look at Shinoa real quick.
"Why does he look so...nervous?"
Yamanaka started contemplating. Then, he swallowed and took a deep breath. "Yuji, our friend, went inside the Forbidden Chamber and never came back." He said, catching Shinoa's attention completely.
"The Forbidden Chamber?" Yuu asked curiously. I bit my lip.
"That doesn't sound good..."
"And since I heard that Yoichi-san is getting into the Vampire Extermination Unit--" Yamanaka started to say until Shinoa cut him off.
And boy, was she mad.
"Ah-ha. So, you guys broke into the army's Class-1 restricted area?" She asked, shooting a glare at Yamanaka. He backed up a bit and then looked down at the ground. "Th-That's..." He started to say again, but Shinoa quickly cut him off.
"I don't need an excuse. I bet you broke in as a dare or something, right?" She asked as she walked up to the two boys. They both looked at her nervously, afraid if they were to say another word they would be in even more trouble.
"People who enter that are to receive a very severe punishment." Shinoa said, walking past the two boys.
"A severe punishment? Does that mean...?! Oh god I hope not!"
"T-Then Yuji's...?" Yamanaka asked, sounding both very worried and scared. Shinoa turned and looked at him. "He's probably been captured by the army." Yamanaka looked scared. "Oh no...can you please do something?!" He asked.
"The death penalty is also possible." Shinoa said harsly, startling all of us. Shinoa turned back around. "Please give up." She said, about to walk away. I gritted my teeth.
"Just give up? Just give up?! Like hell!"
I stormed up to Shinoa and grabbed her by her shoulders. She looked at me, completely startled. "Listen here. I don't care if these guys broke the rules or not. I could care less. But, that is their friend. So I can't just stand there and listen to you tell them to freaking give up." Shinoa was about to interject, but I ignored her.
I walked up to Yamanaka and put my hand on his shoulder. "Oi, Yamanaka. Don't worry about Yuji, I promise I'll get him out of whatever he's gotten himself into." I said. He nodded nervously.
I started charging down the hallway. "W-Wait a minute! Mayu-san!" Shinoa objected. I stopped and turned towards her.
"I'm not gonna wait. I will go alone if I have to." I stated, getting ready to walk off again. "Screw whatever punishment Guren is going to give me later, I'm going." I said.
I heard footsteps behind me. "Oi, wait up!" Yuu said as he caught up to me. "You know, you're wrong if you think I'm gonna let you go to that Forbidden Chamber by yourself." He said, a serious look in his eyes.
I wanted to tell him to turn back around and go with Shinoa to get Guren, but....I guess this time Yuu had a point. I sighed and then smiled. "Alright. But, you better not do anything stupid this time. Other than that, Guren won't be the person you're gonna be dealing with." I stated bluntly.
I heard Yuu chuckle nervously. "Whatever you say." Shinoa started chasing after us. "Wait you two! Mayu-san...Yuu-san!" She shouted.
"You both are such idiots!!"
*Timeskip: a little while later.*
"Uuggghhh! Why are there so many stairs?!"
My legs felt like they were going to fall off as we walked down the 5th, seriously long, staircase.
The four of us, Me, Yuu, Shinoa, and Yoichi, we're all going towards the Forbidden Chamber where I hoped Yamanaka's friend was.
I looked over at Shinoa. I really hoped that she wasn't going to report my actions to Guren, but then again, a part of me kinda didn't care.
I sighed in relief and then in frustration as we came to the end of the staircase, only to turn onto another one.
"My legs feel like jello..."
I looked over at Yuu and grinned. Without warning, I lightly jumped on his back, causing him to stumble a little. "Oi! What the hell do you think you're doing?" He asked as I laughed. "My legs are getting tired. You don't mind carrying me the rest of the way, do you?" I asked, giving him the puppy eyes.
He opened his mouth to say something, but he just sighed. "Fine, but you owe me one." I giggled in triumph as Yuu carried me. I heard Shinoa giggle. "Lieutenant colonel Guren was right, you two are perfect for each other." She said, making the both of us blush.
"W-Will you shut your trap already...! Damn you, Guren..." Yuu mumbled. I blushed and buried my face in Yuu's back. My heart was beating really fast.
"D-Dammit..."
Yuu cleared his throat. "So, anyway Shinoa, what was that whole Forbidden Chamber thing about?" Shinoa turned towards us, giving us a little giggle.
"Haven't you heard about the seven wonders of this school? A piano that plays on its own, a moving anatomical model, and the Forbidden Chamber area that you should never open. " She said as she continued walking.
"Seven wonders my ass." Yuu mumbled. "It's a restricted area that the army manages, right?" He asked. Yoichi turned towards Shinoa. "So, Yuji-kun went in there and know he can't get out?" He asked as Shinoa turned towards him.
"Probably, that place is actually a training facility for the Vampire Extermination Unit members. If untrained personnel enter, they could get possessed by a demon." She said, catching my attention.
"Oh crap! I really hope he hasn't been possessed."
"Huh? Demon?" Yuu asked curiously. Shinoa turned towards him. "Like I said, the training for the Extermination Unit has already begun." She said as she motioned for us to follow her.
"We're moving on to the next step. Please, follow me." She said as we came upon another flight of stairs. "I really hope so, the leech on my back is starting to get heavy." Yuu stated as he shifted me around a little.
I glared at him. "For your information, I am not that heavy. You are actually a whole hell of a lot heavier than I am." I said as Yuu chuckled. I puffed out my cheeks.
"Hehe. You're such a block-head. But...you're my block-head."
After we finished going down the stairs, I got off of Yuu's back. We later on came upon a hallway. "An underground shrine? Why is there an underground shrine beneath the school?" Yuu asked as we reached a door that looked like it was really old.
"Well, we just call it a shrine." Shinoa said as she opened the door. I grumbled in in frustration.
"Nooo!! Not another flight of stairs!"
Suddenly, a cold and ominous wind blew through, blowing my hair out of my ponytail. I felt a small shiver go down my spine. Feeling uneasy, I grabbed Yuu's hand, holding it tightly.
"You alright?" He whispered. I nodded slightly, swallowing the lump in my throat. "Yeah...I just got a bad feeling..." I whispered back.
"I really hope nothing bad happens...."
"Some time ago, there was a giant space under Shibuya to prevent the river from flooding." Shinoa said as we continued going down more flights of stairs.
"Seriously?! How many stairs are there in this building?! I bet this was all Guren's stupid idea. That jerk!"
"The Vampire Extermination Unit chose there as a training area. Actually, this entire thing is a training area for the Extermination Unit, and those unaffected by the demons evil energy are pulled into the Unit." Shinoa said as she turned towards us, causing us to stop.
She smiled. "Basically, the purpose of this school is to conduct a large-scale human experiment." Yoichi swallowed nervously as my eyes widened.
Shinoa let out a small laugh. "Did you really think a peaceful school existed in a messed up world like this?" She asked as she continued walking.
We finally reached our destination, a small knot starting to form in the pit of my stomach. The door was covered with so many warding spells that I couldn't even see the door itself.
"Who the hell would be stupid enough to..."
I quickly looked over at Yuu and then sighed.
"You know what...never mind."
From here on, only people who were called by the Extermination Unit or people called by the demon can enter." Shinoa stated.
Yoichi turned towards Shinoa, a worried look on his face. "Then Yuji-kun...?" He asked, Shinoa shook her head. "We didn't call him, so the demon may have consumed his heart by now." She said as I swallowed nervously.
Yoichi's eyes widened. "I-If your heart is consumed, what will happen?" Shinoa looked at him. "You will become something worse then a vampire. A man-eating demon with no intellect."
I froze as Yoichi backed up a little. "That's why you need thorough training. Especially training for you heart." Shinoa said. I looked over at Yuu, seeing a determined look in his eyes.
"Yuu-kun...?"
"That's why I wanted to show you three the frightfulness of a Cursed----" She started to say, but Yuu cut her off.
"The point is not to lose to a demon, right?" He asked as he walked towards the door. "I need power in order to get revenge. If I can get that power, I don't care if it's from a demon or a devil." Yuu said as he grabbed the handel.
Yuu opened the door and started to head inside. Before he could take one step through, I quickly grabbed his arm and pulled him back. He turned towards me curiously.
"What is it, Mayu?" He asked as I shook my head. "I don't know why...but when we came down here I started getting a bad feeling. Like we shouldn't be down here, that I shouldn't be down here." I said, gripping Yuu's arm tighter.
"I don't know what it is that's making me feel this way...but if you're going in there, you're not going in there alone. No matter how much you want revenge." I said as I looked up at him.
"I could tell by just looking in his eyes that he wants me to stay here and be safe, but I really don't want to let him go in there alone."
Yuu opened his mouth to say something, but I cut him off. "Please Yuu-kun! Don't go in there alone, I'm begging you!" I felt like I was gonna cry, and I didn't know why.
Suddenly, Yuu flicked me in the forehead. "I was gonna say, alright you can come with me, but you cut me off before I could say anything. Jeez." He said as I rubbed my forehead.
I sniffled and nodded. "Okay!" I said. Yuu smiled and then went back to being serious. "Alright, but, I only want you to get involved if things start to get really bad, okay?" He said as I nodded.
"H-Hey, don't just go in!" Shinoa exclaimed as Yuu and I stepped into the training area.
There were so many weapons. Swords, axes, and spears were all sticking out of the floor. I focused my gaze on the person standing in the middle of the floor, axe in hand.
I pulled on Yuu's sleeve. "Yuu-kun, look!" I said as I pointed to the person. "You think that might be Yuji?" I asked. Yuu nodded. "Only one way to find out. Stay here." Yuu said as he prepared to jump down into the arena. Shinoa quickly grabbed him by the shoulder and pulled him back.
"Just watch from a distance and don't do anything. He will be rescued by the Extermination Unit." She said as Yoichi came and stood next to me. I looked over at him, seeing a worried expression on his face.
"Dammit...I hope the Extermination Unit gets here soon.."
"No one has made a contract with that axe yet, right?" Yuu asked, catching Shinoa's attention. Yuu turned towards her and grinned. "Then that's mine!" He said as he jumped over the railing. Shinoa tried to stop him, but failed.
"Yuu-kun. Be careful...." I mummbled, gripping the railing tightly. I had this over powering nervousness in my stomach, making me feel like I had to vomit.
"Why...why is this place making me feel sick..."
"Argh! Yoichi-san, please go call the Moon Demon Comany for back up. There are barracks at the back of this place." Shinoa said. Yoichi quickly nodded. "Right!" He stated, getting ready to head for the exit.
I suddenly fell to my knees and started coughing. Shinoa ran over to me, putting her hand on my shoulder. "Mayu-san! Are you alright?! She asked as she helped me up. I nodded a little.
"I-I think so...I just...I don't know. I started feeling this way as soon as we got in here..." I said, trying my best to breath.
"Dammit...the air in here is affecting my asthma...
I quickly stood up, using the railing for support. "I'm okay, Shinoa-chan. It's just my asthma..." I said, startling her. She went to say something, but I stopped her. "I've dealt with this before...so I'm alright. The only one we need to worry about is Yuu-kun." I stated, gripping the railing tighter.
I looked at Shinoa from the corner of my eye. "Shinoa-chan...if Yuu-kun does anything stupid, stop him immediately." She nodded hesitantly.
"Please be careful..."
When Yuu reached the training arena, he charged at Yuji and drew his sword. "Gimme that axe!" He shouted, taking a swing at Yuji.
Suddenly, Yuu's attack was blocked. As Yuu's attack was blocked, a blackish-purple mass emitted from the axe, causing Yuji to scream.
The possessed Yuji swung the axe, almost hitting Yuu. Yuu quickly dodged, stumbling backwards a little. I stood and watched, ready to jump into the arena and help when I had to.
"That's amazing, but it's weaker than Shinoa's scythe!" Yuu said as he readied his sword. I gripped the rail tighter, trying not to fall over.
"Now, Shinoa-chan!!" I exclaimed as Yuu went to charge at Yuji. Shinoa quickly dropped down, blocking Yuu's path with her scythe. He turned towards her, looking quite annoyed.
"Hey, don't butt in." Yuu stated bluntly. Shinoa shook her head in disappointment. "My goodness, how poor is your teamwork? If you touch a Cursed Gear with your bare hands, the demon will take over you, and you'll become a demon like him." She stated, refusing to move her scythe out of his way.
Yuu glared at her. "I won't lose to a demon." He stated. Shinoa glared right back. "Yes, you will. You can't defeat a demon yet. The reason being is that you have a weak heart." Yuu looked like he didn't care.
"Demons feed on your dark desires. They'll take advantage of your desire for revenge. That's why, despite your overwhelming combat skills, Lieutenant colonel Guren won't give you a Cursed Gear yet." Shinoa said, as Yuu put his sword back in its sheath.
"Oh no...what does he have planned now...?"
Yuu smirked. "Bullshit. Then I'll prove to you that I can defeat a demon." Suddenly, Yuu threw his sword aside. My eyes widened as I realized what he was about to do.
"Yuu-kun! Are you crazy?!" I shouted as I jumped over the railing. I landed on the ground, stumbling over as I landed. I grabbed Yuu's sword off the ground and started to chase after him.
"That moron! That stupid, stupid, STUPID, moron!!!"
"Mayu-san, please stay here. You are not in any condition to fight!" Shinoa stated as she blocked me from going towards the arena. I gritted my teeth in frustration.
"She's right...but..."
The possessed Yuji saw Yuu charging at him and readied to attack, the axe in his hands starting to glow a blackish-purple color once again.
When Yuu got into The possessed Yuji's attack range, he swung the axe. Yuu quickly dodged the attack and took a hold of the axe. When he did, he kicked The possessed Yuji in the gut, causing him to let go of the axe.
"He did it...he took the axe...right?"
Suddenly, Yuu fell to the ground. My eyes widened in horror. "YUU-KUN!!" I yelled as I ran towards him.
"What the hell just happened?!!..."
Yuuichiro's P.O.V
"All right! I took the weapon....huh?" I looked at my surroundings, realizing that I wasn't in the Forbidden Chamber anymore.
I was back in my old house....in the underground vampire facility...
"Yuu-chan..." A familiar voice called my name, causing me to turn around. My eyes widened as I saw my family. But...something wasn't quite right though...
"What's wrong? You were spaced out. Hurry up and sit down. Our dinner will get cold." Mika said as he motioned for me to sit down.
"They're....all here?"
"Yeah, Yuu. Don't ruin my cooking." Akane said, pouting a little. I couldn't help but stare. My family was here...they were all here...
But...why do I feel like someone is missing...?
"Hurry, Yuu-Nii. It's yummy!" One of the kids said, giving me a big smile. I nodded slightly and sat down.
"Here, eat it while it's warm." Akane said as she put a bowl of soup infront of me. I didn't pick up the spoon, I just sat and stared at it.
I looked at Mika, Akane, and the kids, looking to see who was missing.
But...I just couldn't put my finger on it.
"Isn't it great, everyone? Yuu-chan is with us today." Mika said as he looked at the kids. They nodded and smiled. "Yuu-Nii never comes over".
"Oh yeah, Yuu-chan. What happened to your revolution?" Mika asked as I went to take a bite of my soup.
"Wait...what?"
Mika chuckled. "Jeez, don't tell me you forgot. You said that you would become strong and kill the vampires, making a kingdom here for the humans." I put my spoon down.
"That's right...I did say that, didn't I...
"That's right, Yuu-Nii! We'll wait for you forever." The kids said excitedly.
Akane smiled."Hey, Yuu. You haven't eaten at all." Mika nodded. "That's not good, Yuu-chan. If you're going to become strong, you have to eat well." He said.
I nodded slightly and picked up my spoon. "O-Ok." I went to take a bite, but I quickly stopped myself.
"No...something is not right..."
"Were you guys all alive?" I asked, making Mika laugh a little. "What are you saying? Of course we're all dead." He said, causing me to drop my spoon.
"Wha...oh, that's right...."
"We were all killed by the vampire, and only you and Mayu-chan ran away." Akane said, my eyes widening in realization.
"That's who was missing this whole time!! How could I forget about her like that! Ugghh, I'm such an idiot!"
"N-No! We didn't run...!" I started to say until Mika cut me off. "You could have saved us and taken us all with you, but you only took Mayu-chan. I wonder why?" He asked.
I went to say something, but he cut me off again. "That's right! It's because...you are in love with her." I blushed and shook my head.
"That's not...I mean...I..."
"You did run away. And on top of that, you didn't get revenge for us." Mika said, suddenly appearing behind me.
I felt him wrap his arms around me. "Come on, Yuu-chan. Get revenge for our deaths. I'll give you all the power you need, so, accept me into your heart..." He said, the room starting to grow dark.
"Revenge..." I mumbled as only the images of my family being killed ran through my mind.
"Yes, revenge." Mika said, hugging me tighter. The room started to grow darker every second.
"You're right...I need power to gain my revenge.." I said, the darkness starting to draw me in. Mika chuckled. "See? So just accept me already."
"That's right...I do want revenge...."

"But who are you?"
Suddenly, the darkness around me broke, shattering like glass. The demon behind me let me go. I stood up and pushed him against the wall.
"Mika....Mika isn't that kind of person!" I exclaimed, giving the demon a glare. He started back at me, surprised that I was able to break through the darkness.
"He's not like me. He wouldn't tell me to get revenge. He's always smart, but he's stupidly nice to everyone, and he would take on all the burdens himself..." I stated, feeling like I was going to cry.
The demon went to hug me again, but I pushed him away. "And you know what...you were right. I am in love with Mayu! I love her so much that I would do anything for her..." I said, the room around me starting to crack and crumble to pieces.
"But, that doesn't mean that I would ever leave Mika and the others behind!" I yelled.
"This stupid son of a bitch!!"
"So, who the hell do you think you are?!!" I yelled again. The demon looked at me like he was freaked out. "Stop, Yuu-chan..." He pleaded. I just glared.
What was making me even angrier was the fact that he still was using Mika's voice and face.
I gritted my teeth. "Shut up! How dare you try to imitate my precious family! What the hell do you even know about them anyway?!!" I asked, feeling all of the anger in me start to grow stronger.
Suddenly, the demon let out a low growl and disappeared, leaving me alone in the broken world.
Then, everything went black. I looked around, trying to search for the faint voice I heard when the demon had vanished.
"Yuu-kun!!!"

I slowly opened my eyes, seeing three pairs of worried eyes starting back at me.
I sat up as best as I could, my head feeling like it had been through a blender. "Yuu-kun...? Is that you?" Mayu asked as she put her hand on my shoulder.
I smirked. "Who else would it be, shortstack?" I asked, causing her eyes to light up. She smiled and hugged me. "Thank goodness you're okay!! I thought the worst when you keeled over!" She exclaimed, sounding like she was about to burst into tears.
I hugged her back tightly. When we parted, she smiled...and then popped me in the back of the head.
"O-Oww!!! What the hell was that for?!" I shouted as I rubbed the back of my head. She frowned and crossed her arms. "That was for not only being an idiot and scaring the day lights out of me, but for also calling me shortstack!" Mayu said as she stuck her tounge out at me.
"Why that little...!!!"
Shinoa was staring at me dumbfounded. "There's no way! Did you come back all by yourself?!" She asked. I looked at her curiously.
"What do you mean by "come back all by myself"?" Shinoa and Yoichi looked at each other and then back at me.
"Well, um, the demon was showing you hallucinations." Shinoa said. Then she smiled. "But, you broke free with just the power of mind and pushed it out, without using the contract spell." I looked over at the axe, that was laying on the ground next to me.
"Huh? So does that mean that the axe is mine?" I asked. Shinoa shook her head. "No, it doesn't work that easily. There are procedures to make a contract with a demon. Lieutenant colonel Guren will decide which gear to give you." I smirked.
"But I defeated a demon." I said as Shinoa looked to the side. "Yes...well, um..." She mumbled. "Even stupid Guren can't ignore that, right?" I asked. Shinoa sighed in defeat.
"Uh, um, well I suppose." She said as she stood up. "You did save your classmates, too. Tomorrow, you'll probably start coming here to the Vampire Extermination Unit's trying school." Shinoa said.
I pumped my fists in excitement. "All right!" I shouted. Mayu giggled and hugged me. "We did it, Yuu-kun!!" She exclaimed as I hugged her back.
I looked at my hand and faintly smiled.
"Finally...Finally, I've come this far, Mika."
Mayu and I stood up. I looked at her and smiled. She did the same.
"I'm finally gonna learn how to kill a vampire here."

Normal P.O.V
The silver-haired vampire walked down the hallway, nearing one of his comrades. He had some very important news.
"Mika, Mika, Mimika." Ferid hummed as he stood behind the hooded vampire. "Ah, I knew you would be here. Did you get the report?" He asked. The hooded vampire shifted a little, but didn't budge.
Ferid chuckled. "Apparently, they found your precious angels that you've been looking for. As anticipated, their being used by those dirty humans." Before Ferid could say anything else, the vampire turned towards him, causing his hood to fall off, revealing his blonde hair.
He pointed his sword at Ferid, the blade touching his throat. Ferid just smiled. "By "their" I mean Yuuichiro Hyakuya and Mayu Shiranui." The blonde-haired vampire just glared at Ferid, his cold sapphire eyes shooting daggars.
"Now, how are you going to gather the threads of your story, Mikaela Hyakuya." Ferid asked.
Mika already knew what he was going to do...
He was going to rescue his family from those evil humans...
Even...if it killed him again in the end....
