It had been a few weeks and it was like all of a sudden everyone was in a relationship. I guess no one could resist, after initiation.
Emma and Logan hooked up at the celebratory party and ever since then they had been inseparable. Literally, every time I saw them they are together.
Will and Christina had also been inseparable. Although they tended to fight a lot.
Amy and Ace did have a strong relationship, but that was before Ace went and hooked up with a girl at a party, just a few days ago. I keep telling Amy just to dump him but she just decided to be distant. Meanwhile, Ian had been trying so hard to get Amy's attention.
Matisse and Edward were still star crossed lovers, especially seeing as Edward was let back in. Matisse even organised a small surprise party back in the dorm for his return. Peter didn't show up though.
Kaden finally asked Jem out. Kaden even assembled a bunch of flowers together for Jem (which is a very un-Dauntless thing to do), seeing as he had spent a week away from her out guarding the fence. They were just too cute.
And of course, everyone knew about Four and Tris and Eric and I.
At times Matisse, Amy and I would sit with Eric and his scary yet flirty friends. I had also heard that they were all single except for Jack. Zane had his eye on this one girl though and she was beautiful. I was trying to help him 'get' her as well, because I am a nice person.
And of course Ian had his eyes on Amy. Literally all the time. Even if we weren't sitting with them, he would always look over to our table.
I had also been talking to Eric about jobs and getting into leadership. And he had been talking to me about getting rid of Four and Tris. He really had his mind set to it. But it looked like it wouldn't be happening. Eric and I had approached Max about it but Max said he couldn't lose the both of them. They were too 'special' to the faction.
Beef between Tris and I had died down but recently, after finishing up our punishment, it had started up again when she 'accidentally' bumped me and 'accidentally' let the word 'slut' slip out of her mouth. We couldn't afford to go to Max after what he had warned us about our fighting. Which really sucked because Tris was really getting on my nerves. And Four seemed to be getting on Eric's nerves. Well, Four was always on Eric's nerves. I found out that, apparently, the beef between them was because of certain incidents during their initiation. I hadn't asked Eric about it because I didn't know how to bring it up. Especially with him continuously stressing about some 'top secret' leadership thing.
Some nights I spent time with Eric, but most nights I stayed in the dorm.
Tonight I was going to stay the night at his place though. Apparently he had something 'important' to tell me.
*knock knock knock*
"Heyyy. Come in" he said as he opened the door welcomely.
"Hi" I said in return as I entered the apartment.
There was a book lying on the coffee table near the couch. "Been reading?" I asked as I placed a bag of my stuff down on the ground.
"Yeah" he said as he took a seat on the couch, gesturing for me to do the same.
"So what's up?" I asked after he had placed a light kiss on my lips.
"I wanted to talk to you about leadership" he started.
"Yeah, I also have a tiny request for you as well" I butted in before he could say anything else.
"Sure. What is it?" he questioned, seeming a little stunned.
"Well, you know Jem?" I started.
"From your initiation group?" he questioned.
"Yeah. Well she wanted me to ask you about whether she could possibly get a job to do with training the initiates" I pondered.
"Why doesn't she just ask me herself?" he challenged.
I looked at him as if the answer was obvious. "Because she is scared of you".
"Ok fine. I get it" he replied, before thinking about the request. "Ok well I'll have to talk to Max about it and maybe she could help out. We can't have her running things on her own yet. But that wouldn't be considered a full job" he continued.
"Yeah but she already has a job. She works at one of the clothing shops" I said as I laid back a little.
"Ok, well let her know Max and I will think about it" he said.
"Ok thanks soon much" I said, trying to be as cute as possible. Knowing I had just put more on his plate. "Now, what did you want to talk to me about?".
"Well, I guess I've got some very big news" he started up. I looked at him suspiciously. "As you know, when you reach a certain age here at Dauntless you can no longer stick around-"
"I didn't know that but continue..." I interrupted. Eric frowned at me. He hated it when I interrupted him like that.
"As I was saying, when you reach a certain age you either have to live with the factionless or you kill yourself. Most people just go to live with the factionless but only the truly brave people will commit suicide. Because of their dedication to the faction. Now, Max is coming to that age and he has talked to me about it and he is going to endure suicide for his way out" Eric paused for a moment. I could tell he was down about this, for Max and Eric had built a strong friendship over the years.
"Hey, you alright?" I asked softly as I placed my hand on his arm.
Eric dismissed this though and continued to speak. "With Max gone there will be a new over all leader of Dauntless to be chosen... And he is to choose from one of the five other leaders. Ashley, Richard, Megan, Tori or me".
"Oh my gosh Eric! That's awesome! You could actually get what you have been dreaming of!" I said as I jumped up and hugged him.
"You reckon?" he questioned.
"Of course! You have the best chance" I proclaimed.
"Well there is more to it" he started up again and I sat back down. "Each time one factions leader is denounced or discharged from their position, all of the factions need to have a re-ellection. So this means, with Max leaving, each faction will need to re-ellect another leader. But most just re-ellect the same one".
"I am so excited for you now" I exclaimed.
"Be excited for yourself as well babe" he said, while smiling at me, as if he was hinting at something.
"Wha- wait, what do you mean?" I asked in utter confusion.
"Well... If I do become the new leader I will have to choose another person to take my place..." he explained, still smiling at me, showing his pearly whites.
"No!" I almost shouted. He was hinting that I take his place.
"Yes!" he shouted. "You could totally do it, and anyway, you would have me by your side".
"But has that ever happened. An recent pass initiate becoming a leader?" I questioned in disbelief.
"It's only happened once before" he explained, still smiling.
"With who?" I questioned curiously.
"With me" he answered.
"Really!?" I replied.
"Come one Lize. You've always wanted to be a leader" he urged.
"Well, I'll think about it. Plus, you never know, you might not get the job" I evilly smirked at him.
"Oh really? Is that what you think?" he taunted back.
I just shrugged and looked away, trying to hide my grin. Then I remembered something... Throwing Tris out. Oh, and Four.
"Wait a minute! If you do become leader, does that mean you can finally get rid of them? Four and Tris" I questioned in rush.
"Most definitely" he evilly grinned, scooting closer to me.
I just smiled at him. "We are so mean" I commented,
before I kissed him.
