Skyla’s P.O.V
It was decided, I was going to act like Sebastian was dead to me. I knew that that would get under his skin and I really, really just wanted to tick him off. Lightly biting my bottom lip, I began to realize that it was a childish idea. Yet, it irked me that he thought he could run my life. I bet you that he thinks that if he yells jump, I’ll reply with ‘how high?’... Nope, that wasn't going to happen. I wasn’t going to let him run my life ... nor let him think he can.
Sticking my chin up in the air, I smiled. Yep, he is going to learn no one is in charge of me.
Walking to the middle of the room, I sat down on the cherry wood floor and faced the door. With a grin plastered on my face I watched the door ... waiting for the moment he comes in.

“Skyla ... Skyla, wake up,” I heard a voice whisper. I cracked opened my eyes to see that Daniel was hovering over me with a small smirk.
“Hmmmm...”
“Hurry up, I am breaking you out of here,” Daniel said as he tossed me a green hoodie.
Looking at it, I furrowed my eyebrows. “What?”
“I’m helping you escape here. Now, hurry up and put that on. We need to get out of the house before Gage wakes up and does his thirty minute walk around.”
Even though I was in a state of confusion due to beginning woken up in the middle of a deep – dreamless -- sleep, I sat up from the floor and quickly put on the hoodie.
Standing up, I stretched for a second because my back was hurting from falling asleep on the hardwood floor. “Where are we going?” I asked him before we exited the room.
“I don’t know ... lets just worry about getting out of here first,” Daniel said in a rushed tone.
Deciding not to ask him further questions, I followed him out of the room and down the hall. When we got to the living room I saw Gage passed out on the couch. He was snoring like a pig and I also noticed that he wasn’t in his tux and sunglasses. Instead he was wearing a plain white tee and some jeans. I really wanted to creep over and see what his face looked like without glasses, but Daniel had a grip on my arm and was dragging me out of the condo.
Once we were in the elevator and the door closed, Daniel gave a really loud sigh.
I looked at him with an arched eyebrow. “What is it?”
“Uhhh, nothing ... it was just that I was worried we wouldn’t get out of there without getting caught. Gage is usually a light sleeper…”
“What are you saying?” I asked.
Daniel looked wide-eyed for a second before composing himself. “Saying something? I’m not saying anything it is just that ... oh, you know what ... never mind.”
“Daniel ... what is going on?” I questioned as I started to get a weird vibe from him.
“Going on? Nothing is going on,” he nervously proclaimed. With slightly shaky hands he rubbed the back of his neck.
The elevator dinged as it stopped at a floor. I thought it was the lobby, so I looked forward and was seconds from walking out of the elevator, but I saw that it wasn’t the lobby. A few people come in the elevator and all started to talk amongst themselves as the elevator door closed and continued to its destination -- the lobby.
When we reached the foyer, I walked side by side with Daniel. “You are lying to me,” I spoke under my breath, but loud enough for him to hear me.
“Drop it,” he fired at me.
I stopped in my track for Daniel has never spoken to me like that.
It took him a full second to notice I wasn’t walking next to him. Turning around, he looked at me. “Skyla, come on...”
“No, not until you tell me what has you so nervous and on edge.”
Daniel walked up to me and looked me directly in the eye. “You want the truth?”
I gave him a single nod, “yes.”
“We are going to kill Jack. Sebastian has arranged you and me to go to the Bahamas on some remote resort. We have connections that are going to cover our track so Jack will not know where you are...”
“Who exactly is going to kill Jack?” I asked.
Daniel broke eye contact with me. “Our flight leaves in thirty minutes, we should get going.”
Pools of water found its way into my eyes as I began to realize who was going to commit murder when it comes to Jack Linen. “How can you let him do it?! Can’t you all hire people to do what Sebastian wants to do?! What if...” I knew I couldn’t think about all the things Jack would do if he catches Sebastian before Sebastian tried to murder him.
“Calm down, you are going to draw attention,” Daniel hissed at me.
I looked at him with all the anger I could muster. “I don’t care! You,” I gave Daniel a hard push on his chest, “are an idiot!” I proclaimed as I started to try and throw punches at his chest. “How could you?!”
Daniel grabbed my arms and looked me dead in the eye. “Do you not think I tried to stop him? I wanted to hire people for this ... he is determined Skyla! Don’t you see that he loves you and is going to murder someone? For. You.”
I glared heavily at Daniel, “I understand his crazy reason to do this. I would have done the same thing ... but that doesn't mean that I’m not mad at you, right now. It is evident you didn’t try and stop him hard enough.”
“You said you understand why he is doing this ... then tell me if I tried to persuade you not to go and kill the one threatening your loved one ... would you give into my persuasion or decide that your life is nothing if they are not safe?...” Silence elapsed over us as I started to realize I would have done the same thing Sebastian is doing. “That is what I thought,” Daniel muttered as he released my arms.
“Have you been in love before?” I questioned Daniel as I trailed behind him.
He looked over his shoulder at me, “huh?”
“What you just told me sounded so emotional. Especially when you said ‘then tell me if I tried to persuade you not to go and kill the one threatening your loved one ... would you give in to my persuasion or decide that your life is nothing if they are not safe?’...”
“You just said that word for word, if I am not mistaken,” Daniel joked as we walked into the parking lot.
I rolled my eyes, “I can sometimes remember lines like that. Especially from books ... emotional quotes get me ... But, hey, you didn’t answer my question.”
“Oh ... no, I’ve never been in love. Yet, the person who said that was.”
“‘Person that said that’?”
“I didn’t make up those two questions. Sebastian asked me the same thing when I tried to beg him not to kill Jack personally.”
“He said that?” I quizzed as Daniel unlocked a white 2014 Honda Accord.
“Yeah, he did ... He loves you Skyla. I know that you too have not really known each other for a long time ... but Sebastian gets attached quickly to certain people. Usually they are the wrong kinds of people. Yet, I think now he knows that he loves you and you are the right kind of person someone wants in their life...”
My face dripped down in a deep frown as I thought about how much Sebastian cares about me and how much I will never be able to repay him...
“Come on, we are going to be late.”
Nodding, I got in the car while deep in thought...
