"That's it babe, take it easy," Liam whispered as he rubbed Emily's back. She was a little over two months pregnant and had been struggling with terrible morning sickness. She coughed over the bowl and took a few deep breaths. "Alright now baby?" Liam asked pulling back the few strands of hair that had fallen over her face. She nodded a little still trying to catch her breath. Liam leaned forward and flushed the toilet and took Emily in his hands and carried her back to bed. He laid her down and got into bed behind her. He pulled her into his chest and rubbed circles on her back. Emily cuddled in close to Liam when she noticed that he was a lot warmer then he normally was.
"Liam," she said sitting up.
"Lay down baby," Liam said trying to pull her back down. She put her hand on his head feeling how warm he was.
"Li, you have a fever," she said running her fingers through his hair.
"I'm fine, please lay down," Liam stubbornly said. Emily shook her head.
"I'm going to take your temperature. Stay here," she said standing up.
"Emily come back, you need to rest," Liam called after her. She ignored him and went back into the bathroom and grabbed the thermometer from the cabinet and a glass of water for Liam. She went back and sat back down on the bed.
"Here," she said lifting Liam's head and putting the thermometer in his mouth.
"Em, I'm fine. You're the one the needs to rest," Liam protested. Emily continued to ignore him and waited for the thermometer to beep. When it does she pulls it out of his mouth and looks at it. She sighs when she reads the numbers, 102.
"Liam this is pretty high," she said looking at him sadly.
"I'm alright," Liam insisted. Emily gave him a look and Liam sighed. "Ok, maybe I'm not alright."
"What's wrong?" Emily asked running her fingers through his hair.
"I'm sore, everything hurts. My throat is sore, my head hurts, my stomach is a little upset, but really I'm alright," Liam explained.
"Think you've got the flu Li," Emily said softly.
"Maybe I do, but you still need to rest. You're not well either," Liam insisted. Emily sighed and agreed. She put the thermometer but in the bathroom and laid down back in bed. Liam put his arms around his wife and sighed. She rolled over and put her head on his chest.
"Sorry you don't feel well, Li. Why didn't you tell me?" Emily askes softly
"You don't feel well either. I was more worried about you," Liam answered sweetly.
"Morning sickness is a little bit different then the flu Li," Emily chuckled.
"Still," Liam almost whispered, letting his eyes shut.
"Relax, you need to sleep too," Emily said. Liam sighed and both fell back to sleep.
Emily woke up first with a familiar sick feeling in her stomach. She sat up and took a deep breath but it wasn't helping.
"Shit," she muttered to herself. She got up and made her way back into the bathroom and lowered herself in front of the toilet. She braced herself and waited for the inevitable. She coughed once and groaned a little. She pulled back her hair to keep it out of her face. She coughs again and gags.
"Emily?" Liam calls. Before she could answer him she gags again. Liam rushes into the bathroom. "Oh sweetie," he whispered. He couches down next to her and places his hand on her lower back. She gags one last time before the retching started. Liam rubbed her back until his own stomach started to turn. Normally very strong, being sick himself Liam found himself struggling to keep his own stomach in check. He groans a little but he doesn't move.
"Liam," Emily starts when she gets a break. "Liam go, I know you're sick. I'm alright, please go," she begs. He would normally protest but his stomach tossed around leaving him no other option but to leave his wife alone in the bathroom. Liam sat down on the bed putting his head in his hands taking slow deep breaths trying to calm his own stomach down. He didn't hear Emily come back into the room because he was completely overtaken by nausea. Emily quietly set a trash can down in front of him and sat down next to him and gently stroking his hair that had become damp with sweat.
"You ok baby?" Emily whispered to him. Liam nodded slightly still trying to be strong. Emily moved her hand to Liam's back and rubbed large circles on it trying to comfort him. Liam gained control of his stomach and calmed down. He looked over at his wife. "You alright Li?" she asked.
"Yeah I think so," he answered. She leaned forward and kissed his head.
"Lay down," Emily told him he did as he was told. They both laid back down again.
"I love you Emily," Liam whispered before he drifted back off to sleep. Emily smiled and kissed his head.
"Love you too Liam." Emily spent the next few days taking care of her sick husband until he was back on his feet and feeling much better.
