Chapter 4
"So we'll be hanging for five days straight!"
"That's wonderful", I said.
Rachel's parents and brother were going to visit her aunt in France, and that meant that Rachel would be all alone. But Rachel couldn't take care of herself; she could barely make a salad without burning her kitchen down. So she invited herself over to my place and she was going to stay there for four nights.
"Don't forget that we're going to the mall today", she reminded me when I drove into the parking lot.
"Right", I said before I parked my car close to the school entrance.
I noticed that most of the cars were driving out of the parking lot and students had happy smiles pasted on their faces.
"What's wrong? People are smiling at school", Rachel joked before she stepped out of my car.
I quickly did the same and hurried up to a few students that were walking towards their own cars with Rachel following me.
"Ehm, hi. What's going on?" I asked a girl with pastel green hair.
"We're getting a few days off because of the sudden outage", she answered in a happy manner.
"They will write on the school website when we can come back", another girl next to her said.
She actually looked quite sad over the fact that there was no school.
I smiled at the girls before I left without saying anything more. I felt that the green haired girl was in a bit of a hurry so I just let them go. My mind was distracted by other thoughts instead. Why would the school make us have a few days off just because of an outage? Our school didn't even care when a part of it was burned into ashes, they just moved all the lectures to another side of the school.
"Days off because of an outage?" Rachel asked like she had read my mind.
I smiled at her without her noticing. She could be quite clever, even if she lost a few brain cells each week because of all the drinking. You could say that I was a bit proud, but only a little.
"Well, more time at the mall!" She exclaimed happily.
I take back everything I thought, you can't have any faith in humans.
"Yay!" I said, trying to sound happier than I was before we both stepped back into my car.
Rachel then took out her phone and wrote a quick text before she quickly put it back into her bag in a secret manner. I raised an eyebrow at her and she turned to look at me.
"Drive?"
I sighed and just followed her orders and turned my car on. The radio suddenly began to play a Muse song and I must say; they're pretty good for being humans.
"Oh not this weird shit again!" Rachel said before she changed the channel and Nicki Minaj was playing. Rachel then turned the volume up and she started singing along. She got to be kidding.

When we finally arrived at the mall I quickly shut my car off and the music stopped before I got out. Rachel picked up her bag before she stepped out as well.
"Sometimes I think that you don't like Nicki Minaj", she said.
"What made you think that I would?" I asked her, but she had already hurried off towards the entrance of the mall in her short skirt and high heels.
I have always wondered why humans always wanted to walk around in clothes that made them so weak. They were already weaker that most of the different spieces, so why would they want to get even weaker?
I made my way to the entrance where Rachel was texting with someone again. When she saw that I was closing in on her, she put her phone back into her bag and grabbed my arm before she dragged me inside.
"Where to start?" She asked herself out loud before she hurried towards the only Topshop in town.
It wasn't big, but it was big enough. It was actually a good shop to buy nice clothes in, but I had different things on my mind than clothes and accessories. What was Rachel hiding? She was the type of girl that would tell her best friend everything. I knew more about her than she did about herself, so what could be so secret that she wouldn't be able to share it with me?
"I think you should try this on", Rachel said holding up a black dress.
"I don't know..." I said, but she didn't listen.
Rachel put the dress in my arms and pushed me towards the dressing rooms.
"Try it on now!" She said before she closed the door behind me.
I quickly took my shirt off before I pulled the dress over my head. Rachel was right, it made me look better, indeed. It was a cute fitting dress that marked the waist line pretty well before it went loose in a cute A-skirt.
"Is it on?" Rachel asked before she opened the door a bit to check on me.
She then opened the door even wider before she hugged me in a tight hug.
"You look so cute! Buy it! It's a must!" She exclaimed.
"But-"
"You know what? Don't change back! You're going to wear that today! Take your trousers off. I hope your legs are shaved!" She said before she walked out of the dressing room leaving me alone in there.
I sighed quietly before I took my shoes off and pulled my trousers off. I was happy that I actually had shaved legs, but my outfit was now more alike Rachel's outfit. I felt weak and exposed.
"Done?" Rachel asked before she once again walked into the dressing room.
"I know that you don't like heels, so I won't force you to wear a pair. Besides, that outfit looks cute with a pair of Converse", she told me before she grabbed my pants and shirt and walked out of the room.
I quickly put my shoes on before I followed her to the cashier.
"Hey, my friend would like to buy this dress, and walk out with it, if that's okay?" Rachel asked the girl behind the check disc.
She looked at me with a confused look before she nodded her head.
"Sure, that's okay. Can you turn around please?" She asked me.
I quickly turned around so she could scan the dress. She then grabbed the skirt part of the dress and took away the white alarm object.
"That's 28 pounds please", she said and I handed her the money, "Thank you, have a good day!"
"You too", I answered politely before I walked away with Rachel following me.
"You look gorgeous", she said when we walked out of the shop.
"Thank-"
"Let's go to Starbucks!" Rachel said before we hurried off again.
Devil, she was acting as if she had never gone shopping before. Who was she trying to fool? The people working here always recognise her!
***
"So Rachel, what's actually up with you and your secret texting?" I asked her.
We were sitting at a café resting our tired legs. I thought it would be a good place to ask her about the texting instead of sneaking around in her purse, and I think it worked. Rachel looked around before she bent over the table to get closer to me.
"Don't tell anyone, but there's a guy..."
"A guy? Is that what you're trying to hide? What is the bad part? Is he your cousin?" I asked sarcastically.
"He's 24", she said.
"He is what?!"
"It's not that big of a deal..."
"Maybe not, but your parents will freak out if-"
"That's why I don't want you to tell anyone. Mom asked me who I was texting with and I just said that it was you."
"When did you become so bad?" I asked in a pleased manner.
"I don't know, this guy just brings out the bad side in me", she said while she was laughing.
I bet she was trying to sound funny, but there was definitely something wrong with this guy. It was pretty weird for a random guy showing up and bringing out the bad Rachel. I've been trying to do that for ages, but the only bad thing she was able to do was to go and party at nights without lying to her parents. She wouldn't lie if they asked where she was going, she would tell them and see if they would let her go or not. She wasn't the lying type, she never was, until now.
I took a sip of my Frappuccino and I was just about to ask what his name was when I heard a scream.
"Put your gun down!"
"I was ju-"
"Put the bloody gun down!"
I looked at the guy who was holding a gun. He was surrounded by seven other policemen and they were all pointing their guns at the guy in the middle.
"What do you think is happening?" Rachel asked.
"I don't know."
And suddenly we heard gunshots and the man with the gun fell to the floor and people were screaming and running away.
"Oh my God!" Rachel screamed before we both stood up.
I grabbed my drink and stepped closer to the policemen. I didn't really feel scared or anything until I saw who the guy that had shot him was, Phoenix.
"Blake!" Rachel said before she ran over to the policeman. What the hell?
"Hey, Rachel", he said when he saw her. He didn't even look at me, as if he hadn't noticed me.
"What happened here?" Rachel asked him.
"We think that he was the killer that we've been looking for", he explained.
I looked over at the body and saw the puddle of blood. The body was lying motionless on the floor, and I couldn't feel his soul anymore. Dead.
"So you had to kill him because you thought that he was the killer?" I asked Phoenix and he finally looked at me.
"I don't like killers, so I kill them. Weird, isn't it?"
"You're aware of the fact that you're a killer yourself?" I asked him.
"Aren't we all, deep inside?" He asked and looked down at me.
I didn't like the way he treated me. He pretty much knew what I was, so why does he think that I would feel threatened by him?
"Angel, he did what he had to do", Rachel said before she looked back at the Phoenix in a dreamy state.
I looked at Phoenix and then back at Rachel. Wait.
"Excuse us", I said before I grabbed Rachel's arm.
"Don't tell me that he's-"
"Yes, isn't he all dreamy and sexy?"
"Rachel, he is a bloody-"
"Hunk?"
"Killer!"
"Aren't we all?"
"Stop quoting him."
"You know what, you're just jealous."
"Me? Jealous?"
"Yes."
"No."
"Yes."
"No, I'm not. Let's just go home now, we will talk about this later tonight, let us leave", I told her before she nodded and we walked back to Phoenix.
"We'll leave now, but see you later", Rachel told him and he smiled at her.
"I really do hope so", he told her.
I grabbed Rachel's arm and pulled her with me before I threw a last glare at Phoenix. He waved at me with an evil smirk before he turned around to walk away.
