Emily's POV
I sat down and she broke out into a smile.
"I freaked you out didn't I?" She asked.
I rolled my eyes, but sighed in relief. "Yes you did! That's not funny!"
She handed me a cup of coffee. "It kind of is. Your face was priceless."
I shook my head. "Whatever. What are you really doing here?"
"I came to talk about dinner, Rob said you wanted us to go because of Danneel's friend. I honestly don't know what the hell you're talking about?"
"Look I'm probably being paranoid, but how is it going to look for me to show up alone with Stephen at his friend's dinner party?" I questioned.
"You are being really paranoid, Em. You and Gen hit it off that night at Katie's house, remember?"
I recalled the night Italia was talking about.
Flashback
I walked over to Stephen, who was talking to Jared, I had only met him a couple times before, walking around on set with Stephen. They had become good friends and Katie had worked with him before on his show Supernatural.
"Hey, you having fun?" He asked when I reached them.
I smiled. "Yeah, I just can't find Willa and feel kind of lost. I don't know everyone here."
"Well I can fix that." Jared said.
He looked around for a second and startled me when he yelled, "Gen!"
I turned around to see a short brunette walking our way.
I looked at Stephen and he smiled at me, grabbing my hand to reassure me. I always felt sparks when we touched, but he was married, I couldn't act on it and his wife was pregnant which made me feel even guiltier over my feelings.
"Emily, this is my wife Gen, Gen this is Emily, she works on Arr---" Jared was quickly cut off by Gen's shrieking.
"Oh my God. I'm totally going to fan girl right now. I apologize ahead of time. I didn't know you were here, I was hoping to meet you, I love Felicity! She cracks me up." She looped her arm through mine and led me away from the boys, I turned back to Stephen and he was laughing with Jared.
End of Flashback
"Yes we did hit it off, but that doesn't change the fact that Cassandra is going to find out about this dinner that she's not invited too." I said, trying to talk Italia into agreeing with me.
She rolled her eyes. "Either you want to be with Stephen or you don't. Em, it's simple. You are head over heels for him, and I know he feels the same way. Cassandra needs to realize that her marriage is over."
"How is Cassandra supposed to realize something that she has no clue is happening?" I countered.
"Actually. I just told her this morning."
My head snapped to the door and Stephen was standing there.
"I will let you two talk." She rushed out and Stephen locked the door behind her.
"What are you talking about? You didn't say anything all day."
He smiled. "Well I couldn't necessarily say anything in front of the makeup department, or the whole crew."
I nodded. "That's true, but I still need an explanation."
He sat down and grabbed my hands. "Italia is going to pick up Mav from Cassandra in a couple hours, Cassandra is then going to fly to LA to spend some time with her family. I will stay here in Vancouver with you and Mavi."
"Ok? That still doesn't explain how you and Cassandra are separating."
He wrapped his arms around me. "It kind of does. I'll be here and she'll be there."
"So you're divorcing her?" I questioned.
He put his head down.
"Stephen."
"I can't—" I pulled away from him. "Emily. Come on." He tried to come closer to me, but I put my hands up.
"Look I know this is new. I know that putting your whole family on the line for your co-star is serious and especially when you have a daughter, but don't get my hopes up, just to break my heart, that's not fair to me, Stephen."
He sighed. "I know it's not, but what am I supposed to do here. I can't just tell her I fell in love with you and want a divorce, it's not that simple."
I rolled my eyes. "Actually it is. I don't want to do this to you, but it's either her or me, you need to remove Mavi from the situation. You either love me, or you love her, it can't be both of us."
"How am I supposed to do that? Cassandra is the mother, she will win the custody battle. I can't offer Mavi a stable home. I live most of my life on an airplane."
"Now you're just making excuses. You live most of your life on a plane because Cassandra is constantly making you fly from here to LA, just so she can keep her lavish lifestyle and make you strain yourself." I argued.
"I don't want to argue about this, I want us to enjoy this time we have together. Uninterrupted time."
I threw my hands up. "You just don't get it. This isn't real! None of this. You will always go home to her."
"I just need time, Emily."
I took a deep breath. "Maybe you should just go to this dinner tonight and we'll talk tomorrow."
He shook his head. "We're not leaving like this and I thought Rob and Italia had convinced you to go?"
I gave him a questioning look. "How did you know that already?"
He smirked.
"I am going to kill her." I said under my breath.
"Come on, Em. We'll have fun tonight. I promise." He pleaded.
"No. I am not going to give in. You should go, before you're late. I still have some stuff to take care of here." I lied.
He was about to speak when my phone rang. I didn't recognize the number, but decided to answer anyway, to avoid any further comments from Stephen.
"Hello?"
"Hey Emily! It's Gen." Oh great, now I really wasn't going to get out of this. I looked at Stephen and he was trying to hold in his laughter.
Stephen's POV
Emily walked into her room while glaring at me. I unlocked the door and Italia was standing there waiting.
"How'd it go?" She asked.
"She's pissed." I admitted.
She shook her head. "I told you not to go with that plan. Cass is a touchy subject and you know it."
"How else was I supposed to throw off her suspicions?" I asked.
She shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know. Anything, but that. Did you talk to a lawyer?"
I nodded. "I'm hoping for the best. I'll tell her after her surprise party tonight."
"Don't you think you should tell her before?"
I shook my head.
"I swear sometimes I think you're a bigger idiot than Robbie." I laughed and went back inside. "I'll see you there."
Emily walked back into the living room area and gave me a menacingly glare.
"This was you wasn't it?" She asked pointing at her phone.
I nodded. "I really want you to be there tonight. No matter what the issues are between us."
"Whatever. I have to get dressed."
I smiled and kissed her on the cheek.
"I love you." She didn't say anything, but I knew after tonight this would all be worth it.
Emily's POV
The whole ride to Jared's house I was silent. I couldn't understand how Stephen thought that any of this was a good idea and it seemed like the argument we had didn't affect him at all.
"You ready?" He asked, taking my hand.
I nodded and got out of the car.
"Are you sure this is the right thing to wear?" I asked worried. I was in a simple t-shirt, jeans, and sneakers, Stephen was wearing a Nocking Point shirt, jeans, sneakers and a beanie. To me we were really underdressed for a dinner party.
We knocked and there was no answer.
"I guess we should just go in?" He said and I nodded.
He opened the front door and gestured for me to go in first.
As soon as I walked in the lights flickered on and everyone jumped out. "SURPRISE!"
