Lucas raced through his open bedroom window. He took off his shirt and lay in his own bed, making it seem as though he had been sleeping there since last night.
At 7:45, Lucas woke up. He put on a blue shirt, some pants, and went to brush his teeth.
After that, he went to the living room and gave his parents a side hug.
"Oh, hey honey!" Mona Friar said surprised.
Tristan Friar chuckled, "How bout we listen to some morning music? Your mom is still in a daze."
Lucas took down his box of Cheerios, "Sure."
Tristan walked to the iPod dock and pressed "Shuffle"
Oh say, can you see, By the dawns early light?
"Seriously, dad?" Lucas laughed as he took a spoon of cereal
Tristan sat down and shrugged, "It went on by itself!"
"It's a nice thing to do, salute your country, you know?" Mona said.
"Whatever," Lucas shrugged and continued eating his cereal.

Maya finally decided to change into an orangish yellowish shirt and jeans. It wasn't her best outfit, but it was alright.
She picked up her phone, plugged it in to the speaker, and clicked "Shuffle".
Oh say can you see, by the dawns early light?
"Why is that still on my phone?" Maya said and walked over to delete it. "A terrible cover of it also."
Maya took out her blueberry muffin from the fridge and started picking on it.
"Oh say can you see, huh?" Maya laughed.

Lucas put his cereal back and got his shoes on. He usually went to the field to play soccer, baseball, or football. He got into his 2002 Toyota and started his drive to school. It wasn't the hottest out there, but it was a car.
One day, he was gonna get Maya in there and take her on a trip. Lucas really liked Maya. Like really really liked. He wanted her love so badly. So badly. Lucas had managed to kiss her once, and that was one of his favorite moments of his life.
Junior Prom:
Maya was standing near the punch looking really gorgeous in her black lace dress with her best friend, Riley Matthews. Riley was okay, just not amazingly awesomely great like Maya was. They were giggling about some thing, but Maya was looking extremely adorable. So I kinda got excited and mischievous. I prank called Riley and told her to come to the front of the school. Then I went up to Maya.
"I need to show and do you something." I said to her.
Maya squinted her really beautiful eyes, "What?"
"Come with me," I smiled.
I led her to the parking lot. I smiled at her. "You probably know what I've been experiencing with you."
"What?" Maya said confused.
I sighed, "Look I'm getting a boner," I really was about to.
"And?" Maya asked.
I smiled, "I need you and your love."
"What the hell?" Maya asked even more confused, "I know you do, but like stop!"
That was it. I had to do something. Her lips were looking really desirable. I went down and kissed her. Good times...
Maya tried to let go but she kept in accidentally kissing back. I could tell she was turned on.
Finally she managed to let go, "What the heck, Lucas? What was that for?"
"You." I said satisfied.
Maya sighed, "Stop being a creep, my god!" and ran back inside.
That was fun. And I couldn't help but think how good she tasted.
Maya tried to avoid him a lot after that. She couldn't. He texted her "I love you" every night, he he tried to call her, he left voicemails, he left flowers occasionally in her locker, he tried to follow her places, he challenged her to Bejeweled Blitz on Facebook constantly, etc. Lucas knew Maya inside out by now.
Lucas got out of the car and went into the field. There was already a soccer game going on midway, so he shot some hoops alone.

Maya wrapped the rest of her muffin in foil and put it in her lunch bag. She grabbed her backpack and went for Riley's house to pick her up to take the subway.
Maya and Riley lived a few blocks and avenues away, but they were in two separate neighborhoods.
Maya lived in a more, well trashy side of town; whereas Riley lived in a really pretty, kinda expensive brownstone neighborhood. Riley was scared of Maya's neighborhood as she was used to the safety and prettiness of hers. It wasn't Maya's fault she couldn't afford that stuff though.
Maya buzzed Riley's apartment and went in. She knocked on the door.
"Maya!" Riley hugged her immediately.
Maya squished by Riley, muttered, "Hey..."
"I'm ready, lemme just grab my bag! Bay window?" Riley asked.
Maya smiled, "You know that we always do Bay Window."
"You mean, Bae Window." Riley grabbed Maya's hand and they ran to the Bay Window.
Maya chuckled once they got there, "Seriously, Bae Window?"
"I tried, buddy." Riley nudged Maya, "So anything happen in the hours we weren't with each other?"
Maya thought of her Lucas incident, "Nah." Riley always tried to push Maya and Lucas together because she thought it was so sweet for a boy like him to go out of his way to love Maya.
"Did your dad call back?" Riley asked.
Maya sighed, "You know the answer to that."
"You need to let him know that you still love him! That's why he won't answer!" Riley said as she grabbed her bag.
"I tried," Maya hesitated, "He's still mad, I guess."
Maya had recently yelled at him on the phone, saying that he couldn't ever be a good father if he tried, and he should never have even cared. She didn't regret it though. He was always going to be a terrible father for her. A good father wouldn't leave his daughter and have an affair with another woman. Maya needed him though. She needed to hear his voice and know that someone was stable in her family.
"Shall we go?" Riley asked.
Maya shrugged, "Yeah."
Maya and Riley crawled out the window and got on the subway to John Quincy Adams High School.
Once they got out into the school courtyard, there were a ton of eyes on Riley and Maya.
Maya nudged Riley, "Why are they staring at us?"
Worries filled through Maya's head. Could they have found out about the little incident?
Missy Bradford came up to them, "Riley you've been elected as cheer leading captain and student council president!"
"What!" Riley said astonished.
"Come again?" Maya asked.
Missy smiled, "Everyone's looking at you guys because Riley's been elected for both! It's such a surprise to us all judging from the fact that your dad said he wouldn't rig it!"
Riley raised her eyebrows, "He didn't rig it, Missy."
"Everyone here knows he did." Missy replied.
"He didn't rig any of it," Maya snapped, "Just accept the fact Riley is better than you for once, Missy!"
Missy squinted her eyes at Maya, "Seriously her?" and went off.
"I'm questioning my dad." Riley said and ran off.
"Riley, no!" Maya called. "Don't listen to her!"
A finger tapped Maya's shoulder. "Bet you thought all that commotion was for you, huh?"
"Shut up, Lucas." Maya answered.
Lucas smirked, "Babe, we should tell people about our love."
"We aren't in love." Maya chuckled.
"Not yet." Lucas replied, "Anyway, I need you to be my girlfriend."
"Not a chance, Cowboy." Maya scoffed.
"Ah, those names," Lucas took a large breath. "Do it or everyone will find out that the votes were actually rigged and that we've sleeping together since middle school."
"None of that happened, asshole." Maya crossed her arms.
Lucas smiled, "It's gonna become a truth if you don't agree to be my girlfriend."
Maya thought of her little reputation, "Fine. When do we start?"
"At lunch, I'm proposing. But I'm gonna give a few terms and conditions." Lucas said slowly. "One. You need to act satisfied. Two. Don't tell anyone that you aren't really in love. Three. You still need be my girlfriend after school. Four. You can still be in love with that Josh boy you were drawing last week and date him if you wanna ask him out. Just not at school. Five. That's coming later cause I'm out of ideas." Lucas finished.
"How do you know I drew Josh last week? And that I liked him? And why are you letting me like him?" Maya asked immediately.
Lucas smiled, "I care about what you care about. If you are in love with someone I'm gonna find out and support you."
"Thanks." Maya said blankly as the bell rung.
