I hear faint sounds of beeping and people talking, the room feels sort of like its spinning. Where am I? I can't move my body; I can only open up my eyes. I squeeze them tightly then open them slightly to reveal a hospital room, but how did I get here? Ethan rushes to my side and grabs my hand,
"Baby, I'm so happy you're finally up! I've been waiting; well I and the baby have been waiting for you." He smiles down upon me; it takes me a moment to realize what he had just said. I reached down to feel my now hollow belly; there was no more baby in there. I frantically start to look around the room, Ethan had left my side but only for a few minutes. When I focus on the door there is a baby being wheeled in on its little hospital bed, I can't grasp what is happening right now. How did I miss the whole birth of my first child? The nurse reaches in and grabs out my beautiful baby girl and places her in my arms. She makes a soft noise and slightly starts to suck on her bottom lip. I can't help but run my fingers through her head full of dark hair, then over her little eyebrows. I slightly stroke next to her eyes causing her to flinch. I've fallen in love so fast and I've only been holding her for all of two and a half minutes. A tear splashes down onto her fragile head, I wasn't aware I was crying. Ethan comes over and puts his arms around the both of us. My eyes become heavy I try to keep them open, but much to my dismay they slowly start to shut.

"Marie, baby come on please wake up."
Was that Ethan? Why does he sound so worried, I'm right here.
"Come on Marie, you can do it just open your eyes."
Ethan, I'm trying, it's not working. I felt his touch on my arm but I just couldn't move. Then it happened, he kissed me ever so softly. My eyes slowly drifted open, first thing I see is Ethan, "Oh my god, Ann, John, she's awake! Hurry!" Ethan yelled to them outside the room, they came rushing in immediately. They looked at me like I had been dead and come back to life,
"Marie, say something please speak to me." Ethan pleaded with me and the foot of the bed,
"Where's my baby?" I looked around the room in a panic; they all looked at me like I was crazy. I was very confused,
"She's in your belly, love. You haven't had her just yet." Ethan said as he placed his hand over my bump. I reached my hands down to feel her still inside me like he had said. I brought my hands up to my head and ran my fingers through my hair letting out a deep breath.
"Why am I in the hospital?" I asked as I rubbed my hands on my belly, trying to take in the last few hour's maybe even minutes with her inside me,
"We called the ambulance after there was the blood; you slipped out of conscientiousness on the way over here. We've only been here about two hours, I felt so bad sitting by your side and you were in pain. I couldn't do anything to help you or to take pain away. You would have contractions even though you weren't all here, your body would sometimes cringe in pain. I had to sit here and watch that, it killed me." Ethan had tears in his eyes as he held my hand up to his mouth and kissed it gently. My eyes teared up,
"Has anyone ever told you you're the best husband in the whole world?"
"Not lately." He joked as he came up to lie next to me in my bed; there wasn't a lot of room.

My parents had gone to get food and go home for a little while. The doctors said it could be a few more hours before there is progress or I have to push. Ethan and I just lay in bed, watched TV, and debated names.
"Can I hold your leg when you're pushing?" Ethan asked,
"No, I don't want you down there when the baby is coming out. Awkward enough I have to show my lady bits to the doctors, I'd rather not have you down there too."
"I've already seen that though." he trailed off, I didn't respond. I don't really want anybody staring down there when I'm pushing. We had a few moments of silence before Ethan broke it,
"What do you think she is going to look like?" Ethan asked as he we laid on our sides and he wrapped his arm around my belly.
"I have a feeling she will look a lot like you, I'm crossing my fingers."
"Well I hope she looks just like her mum." Ethan replied and kissed my neck. I may be is some serious pain and severely uncomfortable, but him kissing my neck felt so good.
"Do that again, babe." I begged, he laughed and did as I asked.
"Come on baby, get some sleep. You'll be pushing in a couple hours." he replied and kissed my neck one last time.
We both fell asleep for a few hours then it happened, at 1:55 a.m. it hit me,
"Ethan, Ethan baby wake up, ouch, call the doctor please." I grunted through the sentence, trying to make my words clear so he could understand. I tried to keep my breathing under control. The doctor rushed in with a few nurses. Ethan hopped off the bed but stayed by my side. He stood by my head and stroked the hair away from my forehead. The doctor put my legs up on the straddles and the nursed held my ankles,
"Actually, I really want Ethan to hold one of them." Ethan looked me in the eyes with tears flooding his, he rushed down to grab my leg and hold it in place.
"Alright Marie, on the count of three I want you to push, understand?" the doctor called out to me, I nodded in reply.
"One, two, three, alright Marie push now."
I pushed with everything I could, the pain was so unreal. It was almost unbearable; since I lost a lot of blood when my water broke the doctors didn't know what was wrong. They didn't know if it had something to do with the baby or me, but they didn't want to give me an epidural just to be safe. Ethan stroked my thigh and looked up at me,
"You're doing so good, babe. Just a few more times."
I pushed for another thirty to forty minutes,
"One, two, three push." The doctor yelled once again,
"I can see her head, she has so much hair. Come on Marie, push." Ethan said so happily, I would love for him to be in my position right now.
Tuesday, October 11, 2:17 a.m.
"Happy birthday little one! Congratulations Ethan and Marie on a healthy baby girl." The doctor cheered as he held up our little baby. He wrapped her in a blanket and brought her up to me, he placed her on my chest. That moment, when she first touched my body I can't explain the feeling I felt. It was like the world all made sense now, like I finally had a purpose in the world. Ethan came right up to me and kissed her head, even though she was covered in blood.

"Marie, there is someone here who would like to see you." the nurse said as she brought in my baby girl after being cleaned up,
"Here you go, what are we going to name her?" The nurse asked ready to take note for her birth certificate, I looked up at Ethan and he nodded confirming the name we picked last night,
"We're going to name her Maci Jaye." I smiled up at Ethan tears in both of our eyes; she passed us over our little girl.
"Macie Jaye Hunt, born Tuesday, October 11 at 2:17 a.m., five pounds, two ounces. You put your mommy through hell today trying to push you out, I was so surprised to see how little you were." Ethan laughed and leaned in to kiss me then Macie, our little family is now complete.
He came back up to me to kiss me again, I smiled in the middle of it,
"I love you so much Ethan."
"I love you too Marie, and our little Maci." he kissed me again,
"Together forever." he breathed out slowly as he intertwined our fingers.
"Don't make any promises you can't keep, babe." I reply winking at him. He grabs me and pulls me tighter into his embrace,
"I promise you, I will love you and Maci every day of forever." His voice is husky and I notice his eyes are watering slightly. He leans down and kisses me passionately. I can't help but smile; he's mine forever.
