Scott held Mitch's hand as they walked down the hall, Mitch with a huge smile on his face.
Scott looked down at him for a second, and then frowned at him. "Why do you look so excited?"
"People are staring at you."
Scott glanced around the lobby they were now standing in, and sure enough.
Several people were looking at Scott.
Whether it was because Scott was half naked, or because he and Mitch were a very attractive couple, he didn't know.
Scott tried to cross his arms over his chest, but Mitch stopped him and held his hands. "Oh, stop it."
Scott looked at a few other people who were looking at him and blushed.
Mitch giggled. "Look how cute you are. All flustered. Let's get you some coffee."
Scott nodded, and briefly kissed his necklace out of habit.
Mitch skipped over to the counter at the small coffee shop in the lobby of the hotel. He instantly started ordering for Scott and Avi, and then turned to question Scott. "Were you serious about the coffee? Or should I just get what I usually do?"
"Get your normal order. I'll give you some of mine if you really want to try it."
Mitch nodded and ordered for himself, before stepping out of the way to let Scott pay.
The female barista smiled at Scott and leaned forward to whisper to him. "You two are really cute together. By the way."
Mitch heard her, and he giggled. "Thank you! You're nice."
She smiled at him, and Scott walked a few steps to his left to grab the coffee being handed to him from the other barista.
Mitch accidently checked him out when he moved away, and the barista smiled at him. "You're both super attractive. How cool is that? You're like a power couple."
Mitch giggled at her and leaned over the counter. "You know what's crazy about that? He's insecure about himself."
The female Omega gasped. "How?!"
"I have no idea!"
Scott walked back over and handed Mitch his drink, before kissing his temple.
Mitch smiled at the barista. "Bye! It was so nice to meet you!"
She waved at him excitedly and watched them leave.
While walking out, Mitch asked. "I thought Omegas weren't supposed to work jobs where they might come in contact with scary Alphas?"
"They're not. But she has another person working there. An Alpha, I'm pretty sure. So she's fine."
Mitch nodded a few times, glad to be understanding things now.
Scott took a sip of his own drink, holding Avi's in his other hand. "Is it good, Mitchie?"
"Yes, Sir."
Scott nodded and smiled at him.
"Why do you ask? If I said no, would you get upset or something?"
Scott chuckled a little. "No, I just wanted to make sure. I'd probably take it back and get you a different one."
Mitch shook his head at him as they walked down the hall towards the pool. "You're so funny."
Scott handed Mitch his coffee. "Go ahead and try some, baby. Before Avi sees you."
Mitch took a sip, and then went to hand it back, but changed his mind and took another sip. "That's actually better than I thought it would be."
Scott laughed and snatched it out of his hands. "I need this coffee more than you do, Mr. Energizer Bunny."
Mitch giggled at him. "I'm way cuter than a bunny."
"You're not wrong."
When they walked back into the room with the swimming pool, there were more people than before.
Kirstie had made friends with one of the Omegas in the pool, while Avi just watched from his seat on the edge of the pool.
Scott set Mitch's drink beside Avi's jacket on the table, before sitting down next to Avi and handing him his coffee, while Mitch jumped into the pool with Kirstie.
Scott set his head on Avi's shoulder while they watched the two Omegas.
They watched Mitch speak to another Alpha about being a male Omega, and then saw him turn around to play with Kirstie again.
Avi set his free hand on Scott's knee. "I'm proud of you, Rookie."
"Why?"
"Look at him. Look how confident he is. He just spoke to an Alpha without looking to you for even a second. He walked past a ton of people in only his swim trunks, and didn't get self conscious once, as far as I saw. You did that, Scott. You're the entire reason that he is comfortable in his own skin. And that's something that he will have forever. Thanks to you."
Scott smiled a little as he watched Mitch laugh at something one of the other Omegas said, his tiny hand coming up to cover his mouth while he laughed.
Avi took a quick sip of his coffee. "That's actually amazing. He couldn't even look in a mirror before he met you. Jesus, do you have any idea how much you've impacted his life?"
"Oh, stop it."
Avi shook his head. "Not likely."
********
Scott got up momentarily to go to the bathroom, which was down the hall from the swimming pool.
Avi didn't even think about it until he'd been gone for almost five minutes.
Avi tried to ration with himself quickly, not wanting to leave both Omegas alone.
He walked over to his jacket and took his phone to call Kevin.
Kevin was at the swimming pool in almost less than a minute.
The moment Kevin walked into the room, Avi pointed at the two Omegas and then ran down the hall to find the Alpha bathroom.
Avi threw the door open to see Scott, splashing his face with water.
Avi came to his side quickly. "What in the Hell are you doing in here?"
Scott just shook his head, hunching over the sink.
Avi looked him up and down before shaking his head. "Talk to me. What's wrong?"
"Stop it. Just, stop it. Leave me alone."
Avi saw Scott's phone sitting on the ledge of the sink, and he tried to piece it together. "Did your parents call or something?"
Scott stared down the drain, refusing to answer.
"Was it one of your siblings? Maybe a relative? Something about Mitchell?"
When Mitch's name came up, Scott grit his teeth, finally turning to look at Avi. "Stop it."
"Scott, you need to tell me. Especially if it's about Mitchell."
Scott shook his head. "His cat is sick. Mike called to tell me."
"Why couldn't you just tell me that? There's something else, isn't there?" Avi asked, finally figuring it out.
"Mike said... He said that there was a break in. And... The day after, the cat got sick. He thinks someone in Mitch's old pack did this to his cat. Slowly taking out the things he loves."
Avi shook his head slowly. "But... They're all in jail..."
"Not all of them."
Avi stared at him. "You're kidding."
"I really wish I were. Jamie is locked up for sure. But I think he's the only one." Scott said slowly, almost trying to figure it out for himself.
Avi took a deep breath. "How am I supposed to tell Mitchell this? Or Alexander?"
Scott shook his head. "I don't know. But I need to see him. Right now."
Avi nodded and lead him out of the bathroom, towards the pool. "Scott, you're in this as bad as they are. That pack is targeting everything that makes Mitchell happy. And you're it. You're his everything. And what's worse, is you're pretty close with Alexander too. If they got you, it would impact both of them. You're the stone that takes out the birds, ya know?"
Scott shook his head. "I don't want to talk about this."
Mitch waved at Scott as soon as he saw him, and Scott waved him over.
Avi set his hand on Kevin's shoulder when he sat down next to him. "I need to talk to you."
Mitch ran over to Scott, standing near the front door of the room. "Hi!"
"Baby, I need to tell you something... It's about Wyatt."
"Kitty? What's wrong with kitty?" Mitch asked with a pout.
"He's.. Sick, Mitchie."
Mitch tilted his head a little. "Kitty caught a cold?"
"Something like that... But, honey... There's more." Scott started sadly.
Mitch just stared at him with wide, curious eyes.
"Um. Your old pack... There were four Alphas, right?"
Mitch nodded once.
"Only one of them went to jail. Jamie... And that was it. He violated his probation, and was charged with sexual assault or something. But the others are still out there... I don't think you're safe, Mitchie."
Mitch frowned at him and shook his head. "But... Todrick said..."
"I know. I'm so sorry." Scott said quietly.
Mitch frowned for another second, but then smiled a little. "But... You'll protect me. Won't you?"
"I'd lay down my life, honey."
Mitch smiled a little wider. "And I trust you. I believe you can beat anything. So it's going to be okay."
Scott nodded slowly, agreeing only so Mitch wouldn't have to be afraid.
