"Julian here. What do you want?" His word's slurred.
"To talk..." I said cautiously and slowly. The smell of a mix of wet dog and pine trees came flowing from the house. I called that smell "Wolf Smell."
"Well, you can do that when Julian gets back." He said, still slurring and leaning against the door.
"Okay, let's go." I said. Grabbing his hand.
"Where?"
"You are going to bed, and I am going home." I dragged him towards the stairs.
"Well, who do we have here?" A man asked Julian. He looked about 20, blonde hair and ocean blue eyes.
"Back off Chris. She's mine." He said, walking towards Chris.
"Upstairs!" I yelled at Julian. He turned on one foot and began making his climb up. I pushed him up, making the process alittle faster.
We finally made it up the stairs. He began walking away from me, into the room on the far left. I looked out the window and saw the sun rising. I watched it for a few moments, but was interrupted by a crashing noise.
I turned around to find Julian running into a desk, then fell face first onto his bed. I walked over and pulled the covers out from over him.
"No." He said as he swatted them away.
"Julian, you need sleep." I said as I forced them over him. He rolled onto his right side, so he was facing me.
"Chloe." He whispered. I crouched down so we were face to face. "I'm sorry." He said before he fell asleep. I kissed his cheek and made my way downstairs.
I made it half-way down the stairs before Chris showed up again. "Hey there." He slurred.
Ugh, why was everyone so drunk?! "Hi." I said harshly, though he didn't seem to pick up on it.
"Where ya goin?"
"Home." I said, looking over his shoulder. I saw a girl, about 5 and a half feet tall, with brown hair and greenish eyes staring right at me. I could see her eyes very well because of the dull lighting, so I couldn't tell if she was mad at me for talking to Chris.
"You're a wolf right?"
"Yeah. So?"
"This is your home. Alpha gives all wolves refuge here." He said like a game show host.
"But, he didn't invite me here." I said, suddenly very interested in our conversation. Sure, he may be drunk right now, but there's always some truth behind words spoken when drunk.
"Wierd." He said, leaning backwards. He grabbed the banister just in time before he fell down the stairs.
I heard high heels clicking up the stairs. I looked over Chris's should again and found Brown-Haired Girl walking towards us. "Chris." She said sweetly. "Go back down to the bar and leave this girl alone." She finished harshly. Dang. This girl's awesome!
"Chill out, Sierra. This doesn't involve you."
"You're bothering this poor girl. Is he bothering you?" She turned and asked me.
"He's-"
"See?" She turned back to Chris. He walked down the stairs and Sierra and I watched as he made his way to the bar, pushing everyone in his way.
"Oh my God, thank you SO much!" I told her.
She laugh and said, "No problem. He does that all the time. Alpha made me make sure he doesn't do it as often."
As Sierra spoke of Julian it made me think of him. He was upstairs, sleeping, hungover, and I was down here, were I'm probably not even allowed.
"Hey, this is the place where Julian let's wolves stay right?"
"Who's Julian?" She looked at me with a raised right eyebrow.
Damnit. "Alpha. I heard a rumor that was his name." I lied quickly.
"Oh. Well, yeah. He let's other wolves stay here." She said.
"Then why wouldn't he let me live here too?" I accidentally wondered out loud.
"Wait, you're a wolf, too?" She asked, surprised?
"Yeah, couldn't you tell?" I asked. I could smell Wolf on everyone here.
"No..." Her voice trailed. "Only a True Alpha can smell other..." She gasped and grabbed my wrist. She looked around for something, and then pulled me into a coat closet. "You're a True Alpha! That's why he won't let you live here!" She whispered to me.
"True Alpha? What does that even mean?"
"Keep your voice down! It means you can smell other wolves. You can can't you?" She paused, and I nodded. She squealed and jumped up and down. "I found the True Alpha!" I heard her say.
"What do you mean you "found" me?" I asked her.
"Huh? I never said that." She said.
"Yeah, you did. I heard you." I said.
"Unless you can read thoughts, too?"
"I highly doubt I can read thoughts too..." I said almost laughing at the thought.
"AHA! You can! You are the True Alpha! I thought that! I didn't say it!"
I can read thoughts? And I'm the only one who can smell other wolves? I'm a True Alpha? Which I still don't know what the hell that is...
"Okay, Sierra, slow down. What's a True Alpha?"
She took a deep breathe and said her words in a rush. "Okay, in like the 1800's, when the first of us were first made by some freakish chemical, he was the First True Alpha. As soon as he figured out how to make more wolves, he did. He made 25. A few days after they were changed, they got made at him. So they ran away. Well, their DNA was inside him, so he was able to track them all down by their smell. Hence, you're ability to smell us out. He also was able to track them down by their thoughts. The chemical gave him all kinds of powers. Like super speed and strength, smell, sight, mind-reading. and, he could even turn invisible."
"Invisible? Seriously?!" SWEET! The super speed and stuff I had already, but I could turn invisible?!
"Just kidding. He couldn't turn invisible." She said with a laugh.
"Continue the story!" I whined.
"Okay, okay. Soon, he fell in love with this girl. She fell in love with him, all that stuff. Soon, they had a baby. The woman was bitten sometime during their dating years, or months whatever, so the baby's powers were heightened even more. As soon as the Original Pack members found out, they killed the True Alpha and his wife. They didn't have the heart to kill their baby, so they raised it. The baby boy grew, and fell in love again. The Original members tried to kill him before he and his wife had a child but they failed. More pack members were made, and the True Alpha's continued to have kids. But they were all boys."
She paused and looked me up and down. "What was you're dad like?" She asked me.
"I don't know, he died when I was really little." I replied.
She gasped. "The Pack members killed him!"
"Oh, please." But, right now, the idea didn't seem so crazy.
"You know what this means right?" She said, bouncing on her toes.
"What?" I said totally lost.
"You're the first girl True Alpha!" She whisper-shouted.
Julian popped into my head. That's why he didn't want me here. He knew this would happen. He knew I'd find out who I am. And he was only a few rooms away.
"Thanks Sierra." I said as I gave her a quick hug. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I had to go kill someone." I said half-sarcastically.
"Who?" She asked.
"The Faker Alpha down the hall."
