The animosity between Tameka and Parish grew as the days went by. Edna was still upset about the two breaking her mother's vase. Apryl wasn't around as often because she spent more time with her boyfriend.

However, Ebony was sort of in a good mood. She had a great day at school and received compliments from the other kids all throughout the day. It was the first day she hadn't been bullied, and it made her feel good. Finally, she didn't feel alienated by her peers.

Throughout the day, Ebony listened to music on her iPod and read inspiring quotes on the internet. She had read them once, but this time, it actually meant something to her. It felt good to be surrounded by positive energy.

Tameka was doing the laundry and cleaning the house. As she carried Ebony's folded clothes up to her room, she spotted her mother sitting on the porch. Tameka automatically knew something was wrong.

She sat the basket on the bottom stairs and went outside. Edna sat in a rocking chair, humming to herself.

"Hey, momma." Tameka greeted. Edna looked up at her with sad, puppy eyes and looked back down. It broke Tameka's heart seeing her so distraught.

"What's the matter, Momma? What happened to you? Are you okay?" She asked, sitting in the rocking chair next to her. Edna sighed before responding.

"The other day, when you and Parish was fighting, the vase my mother gave me broke." Edna explained. Tameka instantly felt guilty.

"Momma, I am so sorry. I didn't mean to break it. I apologize fully for my actions. I feel so bad. Please forgive me." Tameka begged.

"Aw, hush. It's okay. It just brought back memories that made me wish I still had my mother. Sometimes I wish she had met you guys before she passed away; saw me maturing into the young woman she molded her into." Edna replied.

Edna's mother, Rosa, died when Edna was just 17. It tore her heart to pieces. Her and her mother were extremely close. Her mother made plans to be there along every big milestone in Edna's life:prom, college, marriage, and children. It was only unfortunate God called for his angel too soon.

Rosa was killed by her jealous ex-boyfriend. He was upset she had moved on, and killed her. That tragic event hurt Edna in the worst way ever. Since the incident, Edna wasn't the same. She used to be jolly, nice, full of joy, vibrant and very humble.

After her mom died, it took her happiness, sunshine, spirit, and soul. The only other joys that came to her life was Tameka and Parish. Eventually, they grew up, lived their own lives, had their own children, and Edna was lonely again.

"Mom. I'm so sorry. I bet she'd be so proud of you. Regardless of any decision you would have made, she would always love you. She still does." Tameka comforted her. Edna nodded.

"I know, baby. Sometimes, when I see you, it reminds me of her. You both are built the same, talk the same, walk the same, and have that same fiesty attitude. I always thought you were a special delivery from my mom because.....everytime I saw you, I saw her. Even your looks are the same. I always wondered why I had that special love for you." Tameka smiled at her mother's kind words.

"So, what about Parish?" Tameka asked. Edna huffed, her whole attitude changing.

"That witch. She is just like her daddy. Both of them mean as a whistle, have that smart ass mouth, and that mean ass face. That's probably why we didn't get along because she was too much like her no-good ass daddy. Sorry bastard."

Just then, as if on cue, the front door flew open. Parish stood at the door, and she appeared to look shooken up.

"What dummy put the laundry basket on the bottom of the stairs?!" Parish screamed.

"I did, but if you gotta problem with it, you should have watched your step. Or maybe got off your black ass and did it." Tameka jumped in.

"Oh, shut up. Fat heifer." Parish spat.

"Fat?!" Tameka asked as if she didn't hear her correctly.

"That's right. I said it."

"Fat? Bitch where?! I am THICK. Know your words and use them accordingly. Let's not body shame, because bitch, you one sandwich away from anorexic. Try eating that food you cook and double up on it." Tameka fired back.

"You got one more time to call me a bitch, I swear." Parish warned.

"Biotch. B-i-t-c-h. Bitchy bitch. Bitch and witch. What you gon do? You can't beat me. The fuck." Tameka teased. Parish took one of her flip flops off and threw it at Tameka. Instead, it ended up being Edna straight on her nose.

"What the fuck?!" Edna shouted. Parish ran.

"You better bring your skinny ass back here, motherfucker. Got me fucked up. And I just went to church earlier." Edna hollered. Tameka got up to go chase after her mother.

Ebony went to school the following feeling pretty good. She hoped her day would be as lucky as it was the other day. Today, since Apryl wasn't at home again, she tried to mimick what she saw her older cousin do.

On this lovely day, her make-up was another natural and limited look. She couldn't really find a lipstick that complimented her dark complexion, so instead, she applied a thin coat of lip gloss.

Her outfit was a black and white Tupac graphic tee, black jeggings and black heeled wedges. She wore a black trench coat and black studs to tie the look together. Her hair began to sweat out the straightened look, so she took her puffy hair into a low Aaliyah inspired ponytail.

When Ebony looked in the mirror this morning, she felt beautiful. She thought that even without Apryl's help, she managed to look decent. Maybe I should look girly more often, she commented mentally. Tameka even mentioned she looked like a beautiful grim reaper.

Summer was slowly fading away, and fall was quickly approaching. Where Ebony lived, once fall hit, the weather instantly became really cool. Luckily, her outfit protected her from the chilliness as she stood outside for her bus.

The slowly and torn school bus stopped in front of Ebony. She climbed onto the bus and sat in the very first seat. Ebony lowered her head and listened to music on her iPod. Kids on the bus began to whisper. Too bad Ebony hadn't turn the music on, so she heard what thet said.

"She look good....finally!"

"Where she get money from to dress like that?"

"Her outfit is cute. She's pretty for a darkskin girl."

"What's her name anyway?"

"I wonder if she down to fuck. She badd."

Ebony rolled her eyes at the ignorant comments. It wasn't necessarily the nicest thing someone could say, but it was way nicer than what she had been receiving a week ago.

Once the bus arrived to the school, Ebony rushed off. She wasn't in a rush to get to school; the bus began to reek all different types of funky odors and Ebony wanted to simply escape.

Following her usual routine, she sat in the courtyard and watched other children socialize and walk around. Ebony always wondered what it was like to have friends. All she was used to was being to herself. She yearned for a friendship but however, was not desperate for one.

A tiny girl sat next to Ebony. The girl looked pretty nice, but Ebony couldn't quite see her face. Her head was hung so low. Curiousity seeked in Ebony, and she wanted to at least attempt to make friends.

"Hello. Good morning." Ebony greeted, smiling. The girl finally lifted her head, revealing exactly what she was trying to hide from Ebony. A full grown mustache.

"Hello. Good morning to you, too." The girl greeted back. Ebony was taken aback by the deep bass in her voice. She legit sounded and looked like a guy.

"Not trying to be rude, but are you a guy?" Ebony asked.

"No. Why did you ask?" The girl responed. Um, because you have a thick mustache and a deep voice, duh. Ebony said sarcastically in her head.

"No reason. I think I forgot to put in my contacts this morning, so excuse me. I can't see that well." Ebony quickly lied. She didn't wear contacts and she didn't need them. A guy walked up to the girl with his hands behind his back.

"Take this, you grown man looking ass bitch!" He screamed, throwing an egg at her. The yolk streamed down her straight, black hair, soaking the young woman. She gasped deeply as everyone turned to her and laughed. Ebony's mouth dropped in shock. The girl ran away, crying hysterically in a deep voice. Ebony cringed, feeling embarassed for the girl.

"Aye, you sexy. Call me when you wanna sit on this dick, chocolate princess." He called out to Ebony. She froze in fear. Heads turned to her, making her feel extremely uncomfortable. The bell instantly rang. Kids got up and rushed to the doors into the school.

Ebony slowly walked to class as everyone passed by her, walking with their friends. She hoped no one saw her being a loner, but someone was watching her. That person was waiting for the right time to approach, and they finally made the decision that today would be the lucky day.

The drama is just beginning! ;)
