caleb pov
"here's what i don't get. elijah moves around during the day, which means the original people knew the secret of the day ring. now, why would klaus want to lift the curse of the sun and the moon?" i said suspiciously.
"to keep the werewolves from lifting it. if a vampire breaks the sun curse, then the werewolves are stuck with the curse of the moon forever. and vice versa." slater said.
"but werewolves are extinct. except for emily of course." maya said.
"true. so far it's just a few rumors but-"
"not such a rumor." i said.
"rosewood?" they said.
i nodded, "plenty of doggies in there."
slater smiled, "god i have got to visit this place. it sounds awesome." he said.
elijah pov
"awesome doesn't even begin to describe it." caleb said as i listened to his annoying voice.
"can we stop the curse from being broken at all?" he spoke again.
i fiddled with the coins in my hands.
"well what do you mean?" the man asked.
slater, i presume.
"well, if we rendered the moonstone useless and stopped the curse from being broken..."
"well yeah, probably." maya said.
"but why would you wanna do that?" slater said.
"tell me how." caleb said, a playful grin on his lips.
"you think i'm gonna help you figure out how to do something that will piss of the originals? and keep me from walking in the sun?"
"you wanna walk in the sun? well i can make that happen." caleb whispered.
"if you help us." he added.
i smirked and tossed the coins, shattering the glass.
caleb pov
maya and slater screamed and fell as the sun singed their skin.
i looked out and looked for who did it.
slater ran away and i took my jacket off, "let's go." i said to maya.
she cried out and i helped her stand and when we got into the hallway she fumbled.
i picked her up and carried her bridal style to the car and put her in, "you're gonna be okay." i said.
"i know."
"who was behind that?"
"i don't know. where's slater?"
"probably iowa by now. who the hell knows." i said.
"he's not behind this. he's a good guy. he wouldn't betray me." she said, ranting.
"well then who did it." i said.
"it's klaus don't you understand?!" she said and sobbed.
i stared at her and she sobbed, "you don't know this man. i'm dead. we're all dead!"
she sobbed into her hands as she healed and i blinked, shocked.
this guy is legit.
i rubbed her arm and closed the door, getting into the driver's seat.
aria pov
i watched as spencer got me another drink and she glanced at me and my phone buzzed.
i looked down, stop staring at me you pervert. ~S
i looked up at her and laughed.
she smiled and shook her head.
alison pov
i stared at where courtney just was and sighed, getting my stuff to leave.
"alison." emily's voice said.
i jumped, "emily. what are you doing here?" i said.
"i could ask you the same question." she said, worry spilled on her face.
i sighed, "hanna told you."
"no, she kept your secret but it didn't take long for me to figure out what was so important that, you'd have to keep it from me." she said, sounding hurt.
"i knew that you'd stop me."
"babe listen to me. whatever she said to you is a lie. do not listen to her. she is a liar alison-"
"what if she isn't?" i cut emily off.
she stared at me, bewildered by my offense against her.
"you didn't here what she said emily."
"you don't have to worry. i'm not gonna let anything happen to you." emily whispered, grabbing my face gently.
"that's the problem...you won't." i said.
i walked closer to her and looked into her brown eyes, "but you'll die. how is that any better?" i said.
"there's nothing you can do emily." courtney said.
"i haven't even told you the best part of the story." courtney said, staring straight at emily.
"i decided to go back home and see my family in bulgaria...but when i got there the carriage was broken and people were dead. i ran inside and my whole family...dead. my momma..." she started tearing up but held it together.
"he killed them. my whole family. just to get back at me for running." she said, a cold expression on her face.
"whatever you do to escape klaus, he will get his vengeance on your friends, your family, on anyone that you ever loved." she hissed.
"no. no hey look at me." emily said, turning me to her.
"do not listen to her okay?" she whispered, brushing her hand over my cheek.
courtney chuckled, "always the protector. but even you must realize she is doomed emily." courtney said with a sly grin.
"there's nothing you can do to stop it." she added.
"unless of course...you have this." she said and held up the moonstone.
"what?" i said.
emily chuckled and grabbed me by the arm, "oh no, there it is, see? the ultimate lie isn't it? you spun this whole thing so that we would have to get the stone from you didn't you?"
she shook her head, "i didn't spin anything emily. it's the truth." she said, almost hurt by emily's words.
"no. let me guess. you want to trade that stone for your freedom? you manipulative, psychotic, bitch."
courtney scoffed, eyes teary, "my freedom? that's where you're wrong emily. i don't want my freedom. because when klaus shows up to kill us all and trust me, he will...i'll be in the tomb, where no vampire will enter because they can't get out. but no, according to you i'm a psychotic bitch. witch may be true, but at least i'll be the safest psychotic bitch in town." she bit back at emily and disappeared into the tomb.
caleb pov
"i'm sorry about today caleb." maya said.
"i believe you."
"i wish we could save alison. i owe it to emily." she said and sighed.
"yeah you left emily, broken hearted. you know you were the 2nd girl that she has loved that died?" i said, drinking some whiskey.
"you remind me of travis." she said, changing the subject.
i made a disgusted face, "why? why him?"
she giggled, "because. he always talked a big game. he was always working an angle but underneath it all he was the best friend anyone could ever hope for." she said, sitting across from me.
"hmm. and where did that get him?" i said.
she walked over to me and stood, now looking down at me, "dead. and my loyalty to him almost got me dead too." she said.
i poured another glass and gave her one, "to friendship." i said and drank.
she sighed, "she cheated on you...didn't she?"
"hanna?" i asked.
"yeah. with that other girl. cece."
i hung my head, "how did you know?"
she chuckled, "well. by the look on your face you aren't happy. i can just see it. you okay?" she asked.
i sighed, "nope."
she nodded, "understandable."
flashback
"hanna!" i shouted.
"han you home babe?" i said.
"han everything will be fine." cece's voice said.
"i'm a werewolf! i don't...i killed lucas cece!" hanna said and sobbed.
"hey! look at me hanna. i'm here okay? i won't leave you. ever. caleb is here."
she looked down, "i actually...i don't know if i feel anything for caleb anymore...i like someone else." she said lowly.
"oh yeah? who?" cece asked, clearly nervous.
hanna sniffled, "you..."
i widened my eyes and went closer to watch and cece stared at hanna.
they leaned in and then kissed.
i frowned and backed up angrily.
i quickly left before i witnessed more.
end of flashback
"i feel bad...the way you care about her." maya said.
"and why is that?"
"because. we need to survive. and to do that is to just...not care anymore." she said, swirling her drink in its cup.
i scrunched my eyebrows, "caring gets you dead huh?"
"it might just be time to turn the switch off on your emotions."
i turned to her and stared at her beauty.
"i will if you will."
she stared at me and placed her cup down.
i stood up, speed running to her and she stood.
i stared into her brown eyes and smashed our lips together.
her hands went around my cheeks, then my neck and i slammed her to the wall, nibbling at her neck and took her shirt right off.
